A strange cat has just climbed into my bedroom

I'm in bed happily reading my book and a cat has just climbed through the window and settled down on my feet.
Neither of our neighbours have a cat. I have no idea where it's from.
It's a very pretty cat so I think I will let it stay, at least until dh comes up and throws it out.

My friend told me recently that a cat in her village has its own Facebook page with many friends, because it goes in and out so many houses and follows people all over the place. People are desperate for this cat to come and visit them!

Beamur · 06/10/2020 20:54

I keep some Dreamies by the front door for my neighbours cats.

There is a cat in my area that walks from his home to Asda. He sits at the main entrance normally. He accepts meals & treats. He's adorable! Everyone knows him, he's on Facebook a lot, he's called The Asda Cat. Here he is on his Insta

I love these threads. Cordelia was assuming a very strange position on the stairs today.

I have a load of "Where the hell did that cat come from?" stories but only one with a recent picture.

When I first moved here, it was the end of a pleasant summer and I had the windows open a lot. Minding my own business one evening during the first week or so, all of a sudden, a beautiful Chocolate Burmese casually hopped through the window. It gave me a brief glance then started to wander around as if it owned the place, which I'm sure it thought it did, making a soft things inventory. Just as I was uttering "What the fu...", a second Chocolate Burmese also jumped in and went on patrol in the other direction. They visited occasionally for the next month or so then must have moved, sadly.

Nearly 20 years on, and many invading cats later including two I went on to own, I now have another Chocolate Burmese trying every trick in the book to get into my flat. I have gently rebuffed her (I don't really want to, she is lovely) so she has gone with the next best option of hogging my garden chair all summer. If it wasn't for her, I would have been Working From Garden during lockdown.

I can't give any advice about what to do about your visitor - but he/she does look very contented.
Sadly my visting cat doesn't behave in quite such a civilized manner...

@QueenOllie

That cat is superb! His poses are epic.

QueenOllie · 07/10/2020 13:22

@BovaryX they're as thick as thieves. He visits at least once a day, usually three times

Gosh they are both very handsome! Does Not Your Cat have an owner? He is a superb interloper...

QueenOllie · 07/10/2020 14:08

He does! I scanned him for a microchip after he had been loitering around a while. He lives about 1/2 a mile away but his owners have children who annoy him and no cat flap so he's shut outside 24/7

Soubriquet · 07/10/2020 14:27

I used to have a black and white cat called Colin come and visit

Colin was not my cat, but he treated it like his second home

His owner worked all day, and as soon as he left, Colin would immediately come round and enter through the window we would leave open for our cat.

Our cat was not impressed but eventually put up with him.

Colin would come in, sleep and pinch the cats food. When owner would finish work, he would race home pleading poverty Grin

When we got a dog, Colin was very offended and refused to come round anymore.

We have moved since

Loving these stories! This is my cat/prawn. She’s been very (paw)ly lately and as you can see, it is all too exhausting!

My husband hates me telling this story but I don't care. He is allergic to cats and is also scared of being scratched or bitten.

Years ago we were staying with his parents. I was woken in the night by him getting out of bed. I asked if he was okay. He said there was a cat in the room and went to wake his father to eject it. FIL duly obliged.

I asked why he had bothered his father and not asked me. "You'd be sarcastic" he replied. 😂 I'm way more sarcastic about a man in his thirties waking his dad up. 😂😂

Toddlerteaplease · 07/10/2020 15:03

@ColleagueFromMars yes. Methinks she doth protest to much!

LadyLindaT · 07/10/2020 15:24

Aww. The cat/prawn. She's lovely. Wishing her well.

MissConductUS · 07/10/2020 15:34

I have one that loves to climb trees. The other two are too comfortable on the sofa to be arsed breaking into the neighbor's house. Grin

Three threads of loveliness for you. If by 'loveliness' you mean 'determined and repeated home invasion'

People don't own cats. They become cat servants.
