A strange cat has just climbed into my bedroom

I'm in bed happily reading my book and a cat has just climbed through the window and settled down on my feet.
Neither of our neighbours have a cat. I have no idea where it's from.
It's a very pretty cat so I think I will let it stay, at least until dh comes up and throws it out.

It could have fleas . I'd be removing the cat, then stripping the duvet. How wide do you leave your window open that vats get in....

doctorhamster · 06/10/2020 16:49

Congratulations on your new cat op! He/she knows the windows open at night now...

MissMarplesHandbag · 06/10/2020 16:52

@QueenOllie - please keep ‘em coming! 😂👍🏻

I call my cat in the other night and he came home with a friend;there was a beautiful black cat following him up along the street and down the driveway.I had to stop in from coming in the house;I don't think the 3 dogs would have appreciated a visiting moggie.

barberousbarbara · 06/10/2020 19:37

This is not my cat. He comes in, sleeps for a few hours then leaves. He will also demand cuddles.

I split working from home or on site (normally) and during a period of time working home alone in the day I started hearing noises upstairs loads in the day. I’d man up and check but never found anything.

One lazy Saturday morning my daughter got out of bed mid morning and as she woke the very nosey but timid cat from the next road appeared from under her bed and made its way out of the window.

Mystery (and daily paranoia and jumpiness) solved. Sadly we had to make sure he couldn’t keep coming in as we have small animals. He does occasionally sit on the roof outside to nose in though.

OnCandyStripeLegs · 06/10/2020 19:46

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats now this is how you treat strange cats that show up at your house Grin

JingsMahBucket · 06/10/2020 19:52

@GaiaLady that's a beautiful little lion of a cat.

shesgonebatshitagain · 06/10/2020 20:00
@Nikhedonia he is king of the weird poses. This was his reaction to seeing a human in the bath for the first time
He reminds me of the creatures in Beatrix Potter’s “ Ginger and Pickles” here Grin

One of my three girls goes next door about the same time almost every day if she can sneak out and reappears about half an hour I suspect grub is involved.

I hate to tell you this op but I think your ‘cat’ is really a wallaby 🦘

FiveGoMadInDorset · 06/10/2020 20:13

When I went away for two weeks once my old cat moved into the pub.

Our neighbours cats have both been in my house once, encountered The Princess and I don’t think have even been back in the garden

Gingerkittykat · 06/10/2020 20:21

This is NOT the OPs new cat.

It looks like a well looked after cat who is just a bit of a CF. Don't feed it because you don't know what kind of allergies or special diet it is on and it will just encourage it back.

Send it back out of the window again and post the picture on a local FB group or missing cat page to ask who it belongs to so you can connect.

LindaEllen · 06/10/2020 20:26

Hahaha that's amazing! This is exactly the kind of problem I wish I had right now! (Although, does he know he should be social distancing with people outside of his household?!)

MinnieAnonyMouse · 06/10/2020 20:29

My neighbour and I both have CF cats who are friends. They like to visit each others' houses, steal food, have a handful of dreamies and a cuddle. My DCat is brazen and likes to knock on the windows to they let him in. Theirs is stealthy and likes to sneak in through the cat flap and wander round silently. DNeighbour and I have an agreement that this is fine and dreamies are provided on demand to appease our cat gods.

Foggyday124 · 06/10/2020 20:30

I went to a funeral once of a young adult man. It was quite distressing for me as I liked him. When it was time to go to bed I asked my mum if I could sleep in her bed as the day had shaken me. I was nowhere near falling asleep when I started feeling a moving pressure on the duvet covers. I yelled and screamed (thinking it was ghosts/monsters...) and when my mum arrived we realised that it was the neighbors’ cat, freaking out because of my reaction.

GaiaLady · 06/10/2020 20:31

@JingsMahBucket i know.

He is a prince.

My cat goes wandering and sometimes comes back looking as if he's been combed.
I opened this thread to see if the visiting cat was him (it wasn't)

I open threads about awful neighbours too, in case it's me...

kingsleyhimself · 06/10/2020 20:34

loving all these cat pictures!! keep them coming!

Iwantcollarbones · 06/10/2020 20:36

This is not my cat but was a lovely companion whilst I was waiting for my round to start on Friday

My dcat plays at being unfed and neglected.. I would not have been wised up about his home hopping were it not for the perfume his other dcat slave wears. Out of circulation since the 70's I reckon...

Our neighbours cat used to knock on my door to come in and play with DDGrin.

Goldensunnydays81 · 06/10/2020 20:44

My cat spends most of her time at another house up the road, she comes home for food but is mostly found there! She sent me a picture of their neatly made bed with a lump under the covers where my cat had snuck under them!
