He's just a terrible old wanker with extreme right wing views is he?

I don't know very much about him apart from he comes from the famous Fox family, he was married to Billie Piper, he was in the TV series Lewis alongside Kevin Whately, and he made a racist arse of himself on Question Time last year.

So what's he up to now? Has he gone even more off the rails?

Ukip for culture. Oxymoron.

He’s a racist, sexist abuser. Anyone voting for him is supporting racism, sexism and domestic abuse. They’re also agreeing that NRPs shouldn’t have to pay maintenance.

I'm sure the shit-stirring, destabilise everything other than their own power base oligarchs who threw him some spare change will figure it money well spent (and well laundered).

@Gancanny

Words "woke", along with "snowflake" and "Karen", are used by people who don't have a robust enough argument to defend their viewpoint. As soon as they realise how flimsy their convictions are they start flinging around the latest buzzword insults in order to distract people from that fact.

The emperor has a big gob but still no clothes.

This, with bells on.

I’m no fan of Fox’s or his beliefs but woke blokes are often some of the most rabidly misogynist (see abuse of ‘terfs’ and James ‘I know more about womanhood than women’ O’Brien. Phrases such as ‘pregnant people’ and ‘menstruators’ are supposed to be ultra woke.

And the authoritarianism of cancel culture and no platforming is about as far from progressive as you could get. It’s the woke who say ‘no debate’ and aim to bully and silence anyone who disagrees with them. ‘Woke’ young staff at Spotify want Joe Rogan banned from their platform and young staff at JK Rowling’s publisher were refusing to work on her new children’s book because she dared to say women exist as a biological reality. Author Gillian Philip was sacked because she liked a post by JKR. How can anyone think this behaviour is progressive, or even on? It’s like a very chilling cult.

An opportunist too, IMO.

I thought he was doing ok to start with and that the QT thing was a rookie error (didn't watch), but reading this has reminded me of the Trigonometry blokes night in, and the Rebecca Front debacle, and this is why I had forgotten about him.

I think there is an appetite for a new party, because people are fed up and there are no visible adults in the political parties. This is probably not it though.

His views are far from right wing if you actually educates yourself. He disagrees with Katie Hopkins ect and his plan is totally valid. Sick of people not educating themselves on matters, yes I am a Labour supporter.

I don't think the answer to the misogyny directed towards gender critical feminists and their supporters is Laurence Fox though! Intelligent, persistent, organised campaigning by the likes of A Woman's Place and dare I say many of the people who contribute to Mumsnet's own FWR board are slowly but effectively turning the tide there. LF seems to be trying to create a whole new career out of nothing much, all stemming from that time he made an embarrassing fool of himself over his white male privilege.

Nope, hes very right wing and I dont know why people still push this 'actually im/they are neither left nor right' shit when its clear to anybody with eyeballs. Is it meant to look like you are on a higher intellectual level above silly partisanism?

From Marina Hyde’s mincing in the Graun:
“ Perhaps the rebel element was provided by Fox’s decision to promote it by showing he has had the words “Freedom” and “Space” tattooed on his hands. On Sunday, Laurence posted a single picture with his fists pushed together so the new inkings read “Freedom Space”. Which I guess is preferable to “Living Space”. Even so, there is a sense that political and historical literacy are not going to be his strong points.”

If you think this is a nice boy with something to say that people need to hear, and not the usual rich, white, male, misogynistic, shit stirring dog whistler...you’re deluded. Please don’t fall for this.

What is his plan? To "reclaim" Britain. Anyone who says there is no such thing as white privilege when they are the epitome of white privilege can go fuck themselves as far as I am concerned.

@Ghosts2020 Honestly, this is an attempt at manipulation - don’t get taken in. A very unpleasant and very sad white man, possibly with an alcohol or drug problem, being exhorted to ‘tell it like it is’, then funded to start a party? It’s textbook. He is ALREADY mimicking Nazi ideas (Freedom Space...Lebensraum). We’ve seen how this shit unfolds. He gets on the telly a lot and spouts off his ideas, which will gradually become more overtly racist. There’ll be a march, five blokes carrying pints and a scabby dog. He’ll have his massive breakdown. Meanwhile we see society become more and more fractured, divide and conquer and all that.

@TheSandman I fear you're correct. Loads money to be made by exploiting the gullible. And he's a nice looking lad too, what a bonus. Photogenic right wing nutter. What could be better. We need to order in some brain bleach for what's coming. Look at USA, a president begging for a race war. Oh democracy; it's going to be a historical footnote.

@Crankley

Haven't they changed the name of this place to Wokenet yet - it can't be long in coming.

In case you were unaware it's perfectly possible to stand against injustice and racism without being woke. Stupid name anyway.

I wasn’t aware. The only time I’ve heard the word (rather than read it) was from a couple of UKIPpers. That’s why I said ‘unless I’d misinterpreting‘, I still don’t really get what ‘woke’ is except a term now used by the right to be rude about those who are alert to injustice and racism. It’s not really possible to claim british culture/values are under attack and stand against injustice and racism, those two things don’t gel. To claim british culture is under attack is what Fox did, so he’s not standing against racism or injustice, is he? Which means those who vote for him aren’t either. He doesn’t actually understand racism or white privilege and he isn’t willing to listen or learn. That isn’t loving or understanding, whatever he believes.

Of course he can claim he’s not right wing, but his many of his views are right wing, nationalist and missing the point. I can claim I’m a blue pot of honey from the planet buzz berry, but it doesn’t stop others saying ‘hang on a minute, you’re a human from Earth’. There isn’t anyone to reclaim British culture from, no one is stopping us sipping a cuppa and chatting about the weather or apologising profusely for bumping into each other in a shop. We can all still merrily have a Sunday roast, celebrate VE Day and form an orderly queue. What Fox seems to be against is being asked to listen in regards to his white male well-off privilege, which suggests he’s just unable to take criticism, think outside his own experience and apologise - not someone I’d want making decisions for the country and not a political party I’d have any respect for. He cannot argue tolerance and then claim he won’t date any women any 35 because they’re too ‘woke’, he cannot claim to be full of love and reason but disregard all negative aspects of british history or the time it took to have good laws around many issues - including child labour and shutting workhouses - because that is neither reasonable nor motivated by love. In short, I don’t see anything he’s doing as positive or based in actual sense.
