Just trying to live a meaningful life in an increasingly bizarre world in which nothing makes sense any more.

@larrygrylls you’re wholly missing the point of this thread and misrepresenting the views of those on it.

Not engaging further, but it’s boring and unhelpful.

ISaySteadyOn · 02/10/2020 08:40

I genuinely believe that the 4 Horsemen of the Apoplex (thanks, just asking! ) have no care or thought for women and children. They like the ego boost they get from increasing restrictions.

I am politically homeless atm in 2 countries precisely because I can't find a party that really truly has anything nice or helpful to offer mothers.

I don't consider myself a Covid denier. The virus exists, but I think there was a disproportionate response to the danger it posed. And I think, overall, the damage and destruction that the restrictions are causing to society and community are worse than the virus.

WouldBeGood · 02/10/2020 08:45

@ISaySteadyOn yes, I agree with you.

I also find it depressing to have no one to vote for. I’m holding out some hope for Labour now, but depends if they will stand up for women’s rights.
@Reedwarbler I bet he's never known a 93yo who falls frequently have balance clinics by phone either.
Video physio with a dyspraxic 9yo is interesting...

Unfortunately not mine this time but for your amusement....

@Reedwarbler. My dentist's loos were closed as well so spent last 10 mins of my filling and 20 min drive home doing a wee dance. Plus in town last week struggled to find a bog big enough to fit a pushchair in or one where I felt safe leaving it outside. It must be a nightmare at moment if people have ibs or a weak bladder

WouldBeGood · 02/10/2020 09:00

@Littlebelina I was just thinking we were lacking rude fruit and veg pics 😂😂

It felt like the time...

TabbyStar · 02/10/2020 09:02

It is people on this thread, even if they are personally reluctantly obeying, who are making it so much worse for everyone else.

The people who are insisting that customers wear a mask on the fewer than ten steps to their table at my daughter's cafe are making it worse for the staff because it's now exacerbated a climate of fear and many people have stopped coming in since it was introduced, risking them losing their business, even though 0.04% of the population were diagnosed with covid-19 in the district in the last week. It depends on your situation as to what's better or worse.

Worldgonecrazy · 02/10/2020 09:02

Now we have all had our real position mansplained....

You silly ladies, if only you would listen to the man..,,

I other news I have decided the weather is actually a really good barometer of whether the Ds feel they have the upper hand or not.

My MP wrote back to me and told me that obviously her colleagues are lying when they say they have not had a chance to subject new regulations to scrutiny...

The weather is matching my mood today.

ISaySteadyOn · 02/10/2020 09:03

@Littlebelina Grin. A joy to behold.

Worldgonecrazy · 02/10/2020 09:06

I’m just thinking about trying to eat that strawberry without choking with laughter 👄

JamSarnie · 02/10/2020 09:08

*Now we have all had our real position mansplained....

Grin😆😆😆👏

I never see any inappropriate fruit or veg. I suspect I need to stop buying from supermarkets and move to farm shops instead Grin.

Well the bad weather has arrived so I am hiding inside for the day.

WouldBeGood · 02/10/2020 09:10

Thanks @larrygrylls so well put, I can see you’re a teacher. I see now that I am wrong.

Ibake · 02/10/2020 09:12

So much has suddenly become clear.

@Littlebelina marvellous! Now can't remove imaginings of how to wantonly eat. Especially as normally served with cream...

Ibake · 02/10/2020 09:16

I've just used the most devastating of MN put downs on Twitter - did you mean to be so rude? #proud

WouldBeGood · 02/10/2020 09:20

Remember the sexy bit in Tess of the D’Urbervilles where she eats the strawberries with the blackguard Alec...?

thenightsky · 02/10/2020 09:30

Not had a chance to use this one for a while...

(Hope pic attaches)

Reedwarbler · 02/10/2020 09:34

@countrygirl99 no that is totally ridiculous, as is so much about this situation.
My 93 year old fil (severe alzheimers) was admitted to hospital earlier this week due to unbearable pain in one of his knackered knees. He/we have repeatedly been told that he is too frail to have a replacement now, and would not survive an anaesthetic due to his dodgy heart. Within 24 hours of being in hospital this poor befuddled old man, who has never broken a bone in his life, has fallen out of bed and broken his femur. They had to operate. he is still unconscious as far as we know (this lack of care includes not keeping you fully informed, and difficult to get them to answer the phone). This will probably kill him. Sorry, nothing to do with covid, but I am just very cross at the moment and felt like venting.

Vintagelovingmum · 02/10/2020 09:34

Currently sitting working out how I'm supposed to leave my ebf 5 month dd2 somewhere as 'due to covid' children are not allowed to accompany you into any type of appointments now even if she's in her car seat and asleep which is not very helpful when I have nobody I can just leave her with, but of course I doubt Whitty, Vallance or Boris have ever had this issue.

Sometimes I wonder what would happen to the world if all the women just left the men to it, childcare, shopping, household management and all! Even with 'equality' it's still generally all falls to women

That's a great strawberry! I'm sad we didn't produce any rude or funny vegetables this year, it's on the top of my list to attempt next year

SirSamuelVimes · 02/10/2020 09:43

(I also suspect that most of us are politically homeless at the moment, in terms of having a party to support.)

Yes.

Thanksitsgotpockets · 02/10/2020 09:46

So we had our foray out to a restaurant last night.
We had already decided that if it looked too busy with not enough space between tables we'd come away.
Or if they'd interpreted the rules in the most miserable way possible and it wasn't looking like a relaxing night we'd come away.

We failed at the first hurdle as couldn't go in without downloading a track and trace app to our phone, which I would prefer to take a watch and wait approach to, to see how people are getting in with it first.
I can't see how a restaurant like this will survive. It's not a family restaurant and it's in a restricted area where only members of the same household can eat out together.

We ended up going to our backup plan restaurant, which is lovely but we were ready for a change and they must be sick of the sight of us by now.
We were the last people in at 8.50 and while the staff weren't rushing us, we started to feel a bit funny rattling around in there on our own.

My elderly FIL has been in and out of hospital recently, due to covid they kept just sending him home..

anyway now he has finally had some scans due to the GP finally writing, and he has all matter of life threatening problems, including

emphysema
AAA (aneurism in the abdomen)
pulmonary embolism (having meds to try and break this down)

So wrong that all this has taken so long due to covid...and they just sent him home in such a bad way...Angry

Orangeblossom7777 · 02/10/2020 09:50

Interesting that view on masks from the bear grillys man person, DS says he doesn't mind wearing one 'it is a minor inconvenience to me' he said. However we are all different and some find things harder than others.. here the school is in charge of enforcing mask wearing and provides them..

WouldBeGood · 02/10/2020 09:52

Luckily, my ds has his teachers to tell him he’ll kill them if he doesn’t obey the rules. He’s twelve.
