Just trying to live a meaningful life in an increasingly bizarre world in which nothing makes sense any more.

Still finding ti kind of strange that although Nicola is dementing about taking care with travel to NE England, in reality dad can go there and have a bubble across the Border due to the rules there Grin He might not, but I mean I bet the train would be really quiet...it is not like going into a city or town.

[quote Orangeblossom7777]also..

"There is no limit on how far you can travel in England for your support bubble but local is best, the government says.
Bubbles can be cross-border with Scotland and Wales."

Well thats ok then, he can tell anyone that cares to ask that they are their support bubble. Good to hear.

Trains have been busy despite it all here. The Edinburgh train will go on to London eventually so you have to allow for those people too. DS2 has been up to Edinburgh and it was pretty busy, someone even nicked their reserved seats and wouldnt budge.
RealityExistsInTheHumanMind · 01/10/2020 14:46

@Willow2017
last time someone did that to me, I told the guard and they sat me in First Class.

Ds2 and his mates didnt want to hunt down a guard and make a fuss so they went elsewhere, think they finally found a seat before they got to Edinburgh Grin

@DominaShantotto

Aaah my uni timetabling gremlins... how we love you.

There's nowt like randomly changing a 9am lecture at the start of next week to a one timetabled in a room on campus to keep us on our toes.

I've done my diary in pretty pens and all that - you can quit that crap NOW!

Oh that would give me the rage. Feckers ruining your diary

Thanks, yes apparently he needs to book a seat on the train before going. (checked with Scotrail) buses and trains still seem quiet here on way to Bristol but that is maybe due to home working I think. MIL was on a bus yesterday and said she was the only person on it (double decker) like a huge taxi!

DominaShantotto · 01/10/2020 16:06

Well, just to document this "high quality of blended learning" university experience...

We have been told that, for us to be able to prepare well in advance of live sessions, all work for the week will be uploaded by 4pm on the Thursday before.

It's Thursday, it's past 4pm... still waiting on module staff for some modules - bodes well for later on in term when people have more stuff to do!

R.I.P.

Used to play her albums all the time when I was going through my divorce 30 odd years ago. It was either Helen Reddy or Meatloaf depending on my mood.

Will probably get banned again now after what i posted on the Corbyn vs Cummings thread. One of my deleted posts the week i got banned mentioned a posters voting preferences. And ive just done the same again.

SirSamuelVimes · 01/10/2020 20:06

See you in a week, Helena! I get my bans from the fwr board. The ban hammer comes down quickly over there!

justasking111 · 01/10/2020 20:33

Is a ban a badge of honour though Grin

I had a haircut today woo hoo. Just a dry cut at 7pm she managed to fit me in had to wait six weeks for it. Panicked when N Wales went into lockdown today but hair salons are safe for now. I have booked again for beginning of December, gawd living dangerously now.

ISaySteadyOn · 01/10/2020 20:37

On FWR, it is. At least ime of lurking.
Would you agree @SirSamuelVimes?

Yeah I'd say so, also pretty much an inevitability considering the hoops we have to jump through.
BogRollBOGOF · 01/10/2020 20:43

I did my fringe today. It seems to need doing monthly anyway. I'm never far off from the Claudia Wrinkleman peer and blink Grin

I'm fine getting by on the MN do.
I've bought dye in too. I get bored in the winter and use the tempoary 24 wash dyes and then fade back to my natural tones.

The DCs seem to need doing again.

DorsetBlueMovie · 01/10/2020 21:03

Ooooffff!!!! First time I've sat down all day. Small glass of red and a terry's chocolate orange hurrah!

I have had a really bad experience with my GP surgery today, my asthma has been deteriorating and my annual review was a tick box form a few months ago. My peak flow had dropped another 10 points this morning, so I rang the surgery. I was offered a call back from the asthma nurse. I was happy with that as she can prescribe and is often more helpful with asthma than the doctors.

I waited for 6 hours, rang the surgery and was told that I was on the list and the nurse would definitely call when she got back. I asked whether I would be able to collect a prescription if needed as it was getting near closing time at the local chemist, “No, we’re not letting anyone in, it will be sent to the chemist”

I still haven’t had a call and I am tempted to drop them in it by ringing 111 in the morning if I feel as unwell as I did this morning. It took me about 30 minutes on hold to get through twice. Chris Whitty repeated his claim yesterday that the NHS was open, I don’t suppose he has had to use it lately ☹️

If nobody is allowed in what are they actually doing?

justasking111 · 01/10/2020 21:15

Had to wear a mask for a long time at hairdressers. When I have to do this I get a sore throat, is this common?

WouldBeGood · 01/10/2020 21:24

I now get my hair done at my house, it’s great

Plus, back when I was at school, getting caned was a badge of honour for the boys

I would. How long are younsuppjsed to wait or are you just supposed to wait till you need an ambulance save them the trouble?
Maybe email Mr W and your mp and let them know he is taking bollocks too?

Evenstar · 01/10/2020 21:45

@Willow2017 I have been wondering that myself. I have a pulse oximeter and it was bleeping merrily earlier, but I am OK at the moment. I know I can’t just leave it. It seems unless it’s Covid you can go away.

Willow2017 · 01/10/2020 22:29

Take care of yourself. Keep an eye out , I know how quickly asthma can turn from DS1.
Phone 999 if you dip more sod GPs and 111.
