Guess how much DH weighs

Wigeon · 11/09/2020 20:46

So I am going to add DH (with his permission!) to the Zoe app which is helping researchers track what’s going on with Covid in real time (you report whether you feel well/unwell every day).

However, to add him I need to state his weight and he hasn’t weighed himself in about 20 years. We don’t own scales. His trousers waist measurement is usually 32”/34”, and he’s about 5’9”/5’10” tall.

Anyone any idea? I literally don’t even have a ballpark idea of what an adult male of his build /height weighs!

11/12 stone id guess

TuMeke · 13/09/2020 02:14

Excellent thread OP! And I’m pleased to be less wrong in the international sport of guessing-other-people’s-husbands‘-weights than I thought I might be Smile

Susannahmoody · 13/09/2020 02:20

Very cool thread 👍

CatherinedeBourgh · 13/09/2020 09:18

Baby grand, of course.

SummerHouse · 13/09/2020 10:11

@mumsnetHQ a classic if ever there was one.

worriedwellworrier · 13/09/2020 10:16

Loved reading this!!! The graphs are AWESOME!!!

Savoury · 13/09/2020 10:19

Oh I do love a chart thread even more than I love a parking diagram thread!

Well done OP for being such a great sport.

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 13/09/2020 10:31

A while ago MNHQ (somewhat controversially) asked for weekly nominations for the best MNetter, or something... I’m definitely nominating @Wigeon.

SummerHouse · 13/09/2020 10:59

Tis an absolute joy of a thread. We need more of this. Thank you @Wigeon

frustrationcentral · 13/09/2020 11:14

I'd say about 11 stone

Wigeon · 13/09/2020 11:55

Aw, thank you everyone Flowers!

I have enjoyed these kind of threads before, so although I expected about 5 responses, just to estimate his weight, when it all took off I thought I’d give something back, y’know... Smile

I was the outlier at 15 stone.

I'm amazed he's so much lighter!

OH is 5'7". 32" waist trousers. Looks similar build to your DH. He's 14 st:/ 88kg.

Most odd, but there you go.

Is your OH very muscular? This man doesn't look very muscular and his legs are quite short in relation to his torso (the legs are the heaviest part of the body) so it's not surprising he doesn't weigh very much.

I love threads like this ❤️

mrsbyers · 13/09/2020 14:50

12 stone

AldiAisleofCrap · 13/09/2020 15:02

Excellent thread, I love the mathematical accuracy.

Wigeon · 13/09/2020 19:17

My DH isn’t very muscular at all, agree that might well explain why more muscly men of the same height/rough build are heavier.

ChavvySexPond · 13/09/2020 19:29

Just under 11 I would say.

ChavvySexPond · 13/09/2020 19:29

@Butterer

Is this going to be like a 'guess the weight of the cake' competition?
I do hope so!
ChavvySexPond · 13/09/2020 19:30
@Butterer re “guess the weight of the cake competition” - I could actually get him to go round a neighbour’s in the morning to get weighed (assuming most people have bathroom scales?) - maybe I should and then I can award a prize to the nearest guess?! I mostly just wanted to add him to the app tonight before I forgot, but could actually get him properly weighed and then we’d all know!
I'm invested now and want to know. GrinWink

I'm also surprised at the low weight but I'm skewed by DPs extremely muscular build.

His thighs are nearly as big as my waist and we did a military lean body mass calculation once that showed that, even if he was extremely fit and lean, he'd still be over 14 stone at 5'8 at his build.

Well done OP on the bar graph A*.

Ernieshere · 13/09/2020 20:41

I was the 16 stone outlier, I based it on the fact that Im around 11 stone and he looks more solid than me.

I think I got disqualified.
