@BakewellTarts
Ooh please ask your colleague about Tenerife
What it was like
Which resort and which hotel
We are holding off booking our flughts

Dowser · 25/08/2020 19:56

Flights as well
Oh bugger!

BakewellTarts · 25/08/2020 19:59

@SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito

I've got to say, my plan is to avoid testing as much as possible.
Me too. And as others have said we will test if we have any of the three symptoms detailed as being Covid as opposed to those for any other virus.

Will do. He said he had a good holiday in spite of the covid stuff. Masks very much worn everywhere including getting to sun loungers on the beach and by the pool. He's just finishing quarantine.

BakewellTarts · 25/08/2020 20:03

@justasking I could get onboard with gargling alcohol...G&T or a nice wine would work for me!

Willow2017 · 25/08/2020 20:07

Well i am kind of gargling wine every night i just swallow it too because i hate waste😉

BakewellTarts · 25/08/2020 20:09

@chocolatesweets like @TheOrchidKiller I would take the girls out every day when they were small whatever the weather and often to various groups. I kept me sane. I can't imagine the last 6 months with kids that age either it must have be very hard.

@flower11 Flowers sorry to hear about your DD. Our eldest has been struggling with mental health and lockdown. So much so that we are getting private counselling to help her. Its really tough. Counting down the days to going back to school here too.

Could MOUTHWASH cut the spread of Covid-19?

DH has bought a bogof of Corsydyl so name your price, a bottle to the highest bidder!

They mentioned ethanol, so imo we all need to buy vodka and gargle with that.

I won't be spitting it out after gargling. If the gargling's not effective at least I'll be drunk for the winter.

wanderings · 25/08/2020 20:16

Sigh. Hearing PM on Radio 4 this evening, it looks like the decision has practically been made with muzzling secondary school children, and was probably made weeks ago. It's following the exact same pattern as muzzling shoppers:

  1. Queen Nicola mandates it - tick.
  2. Saint Boris hints that it might become compulsory, to test the public reaction - tick.
  3. The media will be crammed full of pictures of muzzled children in classrooms, to normalise it - tick.
The inevitable will happen. Saint Boris simply won't dare to upset the still-terrified public. I doubt if there was the "growing pressure" which the BBC reported, but they've now turned it into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Oooh thats an idea i could stock up at work tomorrow and become one of those "EBay entrapaneurs" (or profiteering selfish bastards as they were known as on here with hand gel)

Stay drunk avoid hangovers is a good motto🤣

Wanderings
It's the blind leading the bloody blind.

Dowser · 25/08/2020 20:26

@PourMeADrink
I thought toiletries were very sparse in tkmaxx monks cross on Sunday
Everything well spaced out on the shelves
Only about 2 of each item, if that

A big sign up,on the window
We can only allow 162 in the store

I bet they wished they had 162 in
I reckon I’d be over guesstimating if there were 80

Still it was a good place to ride out the the torrential downpour

Dowser · 25/08/2020 20:30

@BakewellTarts
I took my three out every day because it was so much easier
We reached the point where they would beg me to stop in and play with the kids round the doors.
If we were in, I was always clearing up after them, out was so much easier.

justasking111 · 25/08/2020 20:32

Wales is officially wobbling on the mask schools fence. But listening today I am not hopeful. Funny when we do not need to wear masks to shop, eat have a day out. I suspect they are looking forward to autumn and the mutterings union ridden government workers.

HeIenaDove · 25/08/2020 20:40

FUCKING MASKS. I put my hand up to scratch my chin and felt a tiny spot SHIT I went to the mirror and two spots have appeared in the last hour and and a half. Since i took the mask off. One of them is really painful. I wore a mask for a bit longer today and last Friday because i popped to Boots both times. It was really humid in there today. Its not just spots with me though...........I dont care if its only a couple of spots. its the risk of impetigo. I dont think ive taken the head off it. Which puts me at a bigger risk having had recurrent facial impetigo. I cleansed my face when i got back and these spots wernt there then. They have come up in the space of an HOUR. One of them is really sore.

I had the mask on for just over two hours. No more!! Back to mask on for 20 mins and Tesco only.

Now ive got the worry of impetigo coming back which our fucking Government told GPs not to prescribe antibiotics for. If it colonizes again i will get it more than once

Well i expect treatment because it will have been caused by fucking Government policy.

HeIenaDove · 25/08/2020 20:42

Ive put even more cleanser on it. Cant really do anything else.

CruCru · 25/08/2020 20:44

Oh for fucks sake. I’ve just read the new headline in the Times.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 25/08/2020 20:49

Boris has u turned on masks in secondary school. Ffs.

Bollss · 25/08/2020 20:50

Ffs Boris! Why does he give in every single bleeding time

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 25/08/2020 20:51

Because he's got no backbone. He just does whatever seems like it will be popular and will require no work or investment from the gov.

TheOrchidKiller · 25/08/2020 20:52

To be followed by

  1. Shaming of kids who are exempt from wearing masks
5.Kids not wearing them deliberately to get sent home 6.Roolz about what constitutes an appropriate mask in a school (eg anything offensive banned)- fair enough but teachers have enough to deal with without this too, & parents have the added stress of getting appropriate face coverings 7.Masks available to match school uniforms at hideous prices
  1. cases going up because it's autumn but kids getting the blame for not wearing masks correctly, or outrage that cases have gone up despite the masks in schools but no consideration that the two things aren't related.

@Willow2017
Stay drunk avoid hangovers is a good motto

It would look great written in green/ yellow with hazard stripes, pinned to Boris' lectern.

HeIenaDove · 25/08/2020 20:56

@TheOrchidKiller Yep That list is pretty much it

But can i add another

  1. Poorer kids being told "we are all in this together" ...............oh but only when it comes to masks.
WouldBeGood · 25/08/2020 20:58

I’m up for STAY DRUNK AVOID MASKS!

WouldBeGood · 25/08/2020 20:58

Oops.. Freudian, I meant HANGOVERS 😳
