Slightly embarrassing - what to do with my peanut butter?

I’m in my 40s
I’ve just bought my first jar of peanut butter and am ashamed to admit I’m feeling intimidated by it.
But fuck it, this is anonymous, so I thought I’d ask you all how to eat my peanut butter. Please give me your suggestions.

I’m not into baking, by the way, but am willing to try making something basic. Very basic.

I like peanut butter Hagen Dazs. A lot. Is peanut butter and ice cream a thing?

Should I just eat it on toast? Will it be claggy?

Is there a nice savoury thing I could try? I like chicken satay but wouldn’t order it IYSWIM

What’s the best way to eat it????

Put it in a bowl with a spoonful of Nutella & microwave for 45 seconds for the nicest sauce for cake & ice creams

Lovely in toast with jam too

labyrinthloafer · 30/07/2020 21:53

On toast with sliced or mashed banana Smile

Dizzywizz · 30/07/2020 21:54

On toast! With lots of butter/marg (I use dairy free). Fresh baked bread is the best, but I have it on normal wholemeal daily...it’s relish! What brand have you got?

I like it in porridge.

(Or by the spoonful under the cover of darkness)

ClaraLane · 30/07/2020 21:54

Eat it out of the jar. Spread it on slices of apple. Spread it on toast with lashings of butter.

OryxNotCrake · 30/07/2020 21:55

I have it with apple slices as a snack. Delicious!

Fairybio · 30/07/2020 21:55

On hot toast. No butter. A little raspberry jam on top. Served with a cup of tea.

Dizzywizz · 30/07/2020 21:55

Delish, not relish!!!

HelloCanYouHearMe · 30/07/2020 21:56

On sliced apple or a big tablespoon mixed in with pancake mix before cooking. On toast with jam.

Mixed with geek yoghurt and fresh fruit for breakfast

With bananas in sandwiches or on toast
With jam in sandwiches or on toast

As peanut satay

gamerchick · 30/07/2020 21:56

I love it on toast. Sparingly though as my arse and hips don't. Give it a shot. It's nice on a rice cake as well as a quick pick me up.

I've never cooked with it though.

MikeUniformMike · 30/07/2020 21:56

If you are waiting for a phone call, make a peanut butter sandwich and take a bit bite.

ScribblingMilly · 30/07/2020 21:57

I mix it with tamari/soy sauce, oil and coriander for a noodle sauce. Nice with fish fingers.

Megan2018 · 30/07/2020 21:57

@dun1urkin I bought my first jar in my 40’s too-to give to the baby! I still haven’t tried it, she loves it though. The texture weirds me out (ours is the super natural no salt pure sort), I imagine it’s revolting.

bornninthe80s · 30/07/2020 21:57

Send it to me Grin my husband and I (and our 2 year old) have already finished the kilo we bought last week.

What brand?? Crunchy or smooth? We need to live this with you.

Regulus · 30/07/2020 21:57

Put it on a mouse trap and watch the carnage?

DariaMorgendorffer · 30/07/2020 21:58

Spread it on chocolate-covered rice cakes.

Sauerkrauted · 30/07/2020 21:59

Celery dipped in peanut butter
Peanut butter Asian noodles
Peanut butter and ham sandwich
Porridge with peanut butter
Ice cream with peanut butter
Apple dipped in peanut butter

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 30/07/2020 21:59

I spread it on pieces of dark chocolate.

ILiveInSalemsLot · 30/07/2020 21:59

On oatcakes or crackers is nice.
Peanut butter and marmite on toast is so amazing that it now comes ready mixed.

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 30/07/2020 22:00

It’s great on toast, especially the seedy granary kind. Ds likes it with Nutella, I prefer just the pb. No butter! It’s also nice with apple slices as a snack. Or a spoonful added to a smoothie. There are really basic cereal bar recipes on Pinterest, with oats and things, too.

Sauerkrauted · 30/07/2020 22:00

Not peanut butter and ham, JAM

dun1urkin · 30/07/2020 22:01

Bloody hell

It’s Meridian Crunchy

Does that influence the suggestions?

I like it in a jacket potato
