Slightly embarrassing - what to do with my peanut butter?

dun1urkin · 30/07/2020 21:51

I’m in my 40s
I’ve just bought my first jar of peanut butter and am ashamed to admit I’m feeling intimidated by it.
But fuck it, this is anonymous, so I thought I’d ask you all how to eat my peanut butter. Please give me your suggestions.

I’m not into baking, by the way, but am willing to try making something basic. Very basic.

I like peanut butter Hagen Dazs. A lot. Is peanut butter and ice cream a thing?

Should I just eat it on toast? Will it be claggy?

Is there a nice savoury thing I could try? I like chicken satay but wouldn’t order it IYSWIM

What’s the best way to eat it????

I like it on waffles with maple syrup. It gets runny from the heat

gutentag1 · 30/07/2020 23:58

On a crumpet with banana

Spooned on to slices of apple

Eaten on its own Grin

Bodgedboxdye · 31/07/2020 00:01

I have it with brown bread.

It’s nice on toast, also nice on rice cakes. I’ve also been known to put it on a warm tortilla.

I love the claggy feeling. 😏

Maybe try it with Jam. (:

starfishmummy · 31/07/2020 00:09

@dun1urkin I have onlybever had one jar of ot and I'm old. I have to say that while I didn't hate it, I couldn't quite see the point of it! I also had no odea what to do with it other than spread it on toast. I'd have preferred just buttered toast and a handful of nuts!!

GeordieLass01 · 31/07/2020 00:10

@Megan2018 Store it in the fridge and the consistency firms up. We’ve switched to 100% peanuts for weaning. I miss the salty stuff so grind a bit on my toast with it! 😂

Badgerstmary · 31/07/2020 00:13

Very carefully, without opening it, put in the outside bin.

wohmum · 31/07/2020 00:16

On celery - especially crunch pb

Hong Kong Style French Toast with peanut butter!

Caveat: only for occasional indulgence as it’s both tasty and worrisome calorific! Requires a good rigorous workout to justify.

On toast, crumpets, or digestive biscuits.

Or this which is a favourite here:

Brown some chopped up chicken breast in olive oil
Add chopped garlic and an onion when it’s white
Add a chopped red pepper
Spoon in 2 tbsps of Thai red curry paste
Tin of coconut milk
3 tbsps of peanut butter
Torn up coriander if you like it

Leave to simmer for at least 30 minutes

Serve with rice and naan.

I usually use three chicken breasts to do two adults two nights, and portion half of it off rather than reheat

Gingaaarghpussy · 31/07/2020 01:02

Take 1 or 2 slices of bread.
Butter them.
Spread peanut butter on them.
Spread raspberry jam on top.
Place on plate.
Get comfy.
Eat.
Other options
Replace raspberry jam with:
Sultanas
Marmite
Strawberry jam.
I've also heard that celery goes well with it, but as I can't stand celery I can't confirm this.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 31/07/2020 01:09

Wtf? PB and cheese?? Gherkins?!! You freaks!! I am so trying every suggestion on this thread

DrCoconut · 31/07/2020 01:10

With a spoon Grin Or melt about a tablespoons worth into some sautéed veg, add a tin of coconut milk and curry powder to taste then simmer till the veg is cooked.

Glad I'm not the only one who can't stand celery.

Turns out I'm one of those people who can't taste coriander properly either, it tastes awful to me.

Peanut butter is good for mouse traps

AlCalavicci · 31/07/2020 02:11

Am I the only one that is a little concerned that @dun1urkin hasn't come back for a while and peanutbutter's welded both her jaw and fingers closed Shock

DCIHoops · 31/07/2020 02:23

@Gin4thewin

crumpets!!! Literally salivating at the thought of buttery crumpets with a mound of PB! Bloody diet...
Second vote for this - it’s divine!
managedmis · 31/07/2020 02:35

FRIED peanut butter sandwich. Like Elvis used to have.

Spread peanut butter thickly on one slice of bread. Top with another slice. Butter both outside slices of bread. Fry in a hot pan on both sides until toasty, drippy and golden. Eat.

Tinofcurses · 31/07/2020 02:44

Trust me, this is delicious

stellabelle · 31/07/2020 02:50

I cut up pieces of celery and blob peanut butter along the groove . Yummy for a snack.

Jedimastermama · 31/07/2020 02:59

Peanut butter and grated cheese sandwich.
Carrot/celery sticks with peanut butter.
Apple slices with peanut butter.
Banana slices and peanut butter on toast.
Peanut butter on rice cakes/oat cakes/ crackers/Rich tea biscuits.
A spoonful of peanut butter in warm milk. Smile

chatwoo · 31/07/2020 03:57

Only two versions from me, which have already been mentioned!

(1) on toast (regular or raisin), with Marmite on the regular toast and just PB on the raisin toast. Oh, and an undercoat of butter of course.

(2) a piled teaspoonful on a plate with a sliced up (red) apple.

PhilCornwall1 · 31/07/2020 05:53

Peanut butter and grated cheese sandwich.

Definitely this, although I don't grate it and it has to be extra mature cheddar, the stuff that makes your cheeks tingle.
