We're getting a take out tonight and I want to try new things. I've being trying to branch out from my regulars;
Crispy chilli beef
Sweet and sour chicken balls
Lamb in black bean sauce
Chow mein
Prawn roast

I know it's standard but it never fails. What else are your secret top dishes?

Salt and chilli chicken at ours, mmmm crunchy and spicy

I tried a new recipe this week for mongolian lamb but unfortunately I went wrong somewhere as it was not crispy 🤷‍♀️

BearFoxBear · 25/07/2020 17:15

Buddha's delight - a stir fried mixed veg and tofu dish in a soy sauce based sauce. Super garlicky and delicious, and I'm a committed carnivore!

Titsywoo · 25/07/2020 17:17

Anything salt and pepper! I tried salt and pepper chicken wings recently and loved them! Also char sui pork.

Kung po is good with char sui (pork) and duck is good with ginger and spring onion.

LadyofTheManners · 25/07/2020 17:27

Salt and pepper chicken. Lush

Leflic · 25/07/2020 17:27

I have never seen lamb in a Chinese takeaway.
I thought it was something the Chinese didn’t really eat.

IHaveBrilloHair · 25/07/2020 17:28

Roast duck with mushrooms.
King prawns with ginger and sping onion
Salt and pepper tofu
Fried beansprouts.

Wish I'd seen this thread 20 minutes ago. Just ordered a Chinese and could do with trying some new stuff. My old faves are, singapore rice vermicelli, Beef in black bean sauce, lemon chicken, crispy seaweed, szechuan spiced duck.

Also baffled by lamb. I've never ever seen it on a Chinese menu.

Spodge · 25/07/2020 17:39

Satay king prawns main course. The satay in Chinese main courses is not the thick gloop you get with satay starters (though I love that, too) but a thin, spicy, peanut-based sauce. Delicious.

Soph88888 · 25/07/2020 17:39

Keep the crispy chilli beef! Chinese not complete without haha

Chicken in cashew nuts in oyster sauce
Crispy aromatic duck and pancakes
Crying tiger

Soph88888 · 25/07/2020 17:40

Oh and bang bang chicken

claireyjs · 25/07/2020 17:41

King po chilli chicken or chicken and cashew nuts in a yellow bean sauce. You've got me wanting chinese now OP...

user1471530109 · 25/07/2020 17:42

You've got to try something with salt and pepper (sometimes called salt and chilli-same thing in my experience). I normally have squid but also had chicken (I'm not a fan of prawns).

You're all making me hungry! I haven't had prawn toast for well over a year Sad

SauvignonBlanketyBlank · 25/07/2020 17:43

Mini vegetable spring rolls

LaLaLandIsNoFun · 25/07/2020 17:44

Chicken and green peppers in black bean sauce
Chicken and sweetcorn soup
Chicken curry
Lemon chicken
Special fried rice

AlwaysCheddar · 25/07/2020 17:45

Smoked shredded chicken!

BrandyandBabycham · 25/07/2020 17:45

Definitely duck dishes - a Chinese near us does a lovely duck & pineapple. I also like duck in plum sauce. Prawn toast can be delicious but the Asda version was horrible, really greasy.

DeltaFlyer · 25/07/2020 17:48

Po po chicken. A bit like a Cantonese style sweet and sour but with more veggies, chicken breast cut into slices and it has more of a spicy kick to it

allfurcoatnoknickers · 25/07/2020 17:53

My local is a Sichuan take away and they have fab stuff like team smoked duck with cucumber, spicy lamb with peppers and ginger and shredded duck and string beans. Yum.m

orangejuicer · 25/07/2020 17:54

DP likes kung po beef.

Marmunia1975 · 25/07/2020 17:54

I thought this post was about hidden germs! Off to get my glasses......

I8toys · 25/07/2020 17:58

Singapore style noodles

Alwaysinpain · 25/07/2020 17:58

Singapore Noodles! (Without meat for me)
