Who wants a guess (for fun) whether I will get kept in hospital

and obviously lighthearted as probably not going to die

I'm in A and E
Sent by my GP
As my face on one side has swollen up very badly
Gp said he was worried about sepsis
Definitely wanted a blood test
Said I probably needed IV antibiotics

No itching so not been bitten
No tooth/gum problems
No ones punched me Grin

Guesses?

enjoying the thread, thanks OP.

You have "special mystery swollen face syndrome" - is my prediction.

hedgehogger1 · 25/07/2020 14:07

Oh I had this once. Side of face was so swollen one eye went completely shut. Went to work and taught like it. Kids on one side of the room got away with a lot :). No idea what it was so curious what they tell you

LaurieFairyCake · 25/07/2020 14:12

He changed his mind !

Said 'fuck it, it looks like infection' and gave me double strength Amoxicillin

On a bus home Grin

I was right about the sending you away bit then! Hope it gets better soon.

VelvetSoft · 25/07/2020 14:21

Thislittlelady · 25/07/2020 14:21

Would you rather listen to -
Footballs coming home, or , is this the way to Amarillo
Full blast non stop for the next six weeks?????

VelvetSoft · 25/07/2020 14:22

Oh Grin

BitOfFun · 25/07/2020 14:22

Ah, bugger!

Thislittlelady · 25/07/2020 14:26

No need for games to pass the time then! Fell better. Hope your face shrinks! 💐

Jux · 25/07/2020 14:37

Hope the abs sort it quickly and you feel better enough to go to work tomorrow. Flowers

Somanysocks · 25/07/2020 14:46

The doctor actually said that?!!

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 25/07/2020 15:52

3 wickets down

LaurieFairyCake · 25/07/2020 16:18

Yes he said that Grin

Just a bit of banter - he was lovely

Home watching the cricket and took my double dose (a pharmacist told me always to double the first dose)

And drinking lots of fluids as I'm exhausted

How long do antibiotics take to work - it's got even worse and I can't open my eye now as it's swollen shut

OP posts:
AnnaMariaDreams · 26/07/2020 08:16

You need to go back to A&E. You may need IV antibiotics.

Ohshitx · 26/07/2020 08:18

The doc was clear. Straight back if it got worse.

Pegase · 26/07/2020 08:23

Definitely go back. I had my hand swell up to double size once - they thought it was a spider bite that had caused cellulitis and were worried I could develop sepsis.

Pegase · 26/07/2020 08:24

Also where I am in London you can get an appointment at A and E / UCC if you call 111 in advance which means less waiting around time.

slipperywhensparticus · 26/07/2020 08:25

I would ring and ask if I should go back

lyralalala · 26/07/2020 08:26

Go back to A&E like the doctor said!
RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder · 26/07/2020 08:29

Yes, go back. You don’t want to mess about when it’s near your noodle.

LaurieFairyCake · 26/07/2020 08:47

Damn it - ffs you're all right

I was hoping you'd say they take a bit longer than 24 hours to take effect

mogloveseggs · 26/07/2020 08:52

Crikey this sounds awful op but you need to go back. Hope they manage to figure it out today! Flowers

ScarlettDarling · 26/07/2020 09:17

Back to a and e straight away and no coming home til they've sorted you out!
