5 ft 3, how much do you weigh?

Jula332 · 09/07/2020 12:00

After years of avoiding the scales out of the fear I would slip back into having a weight complex, I braved it today when visiting my osteopath.

I'm 10 stone and stand at 5 ft 3. My dress size ranges from 10-12 depending where I shop.

I'm not sure whether to be relieved or disappointed as whilst I haven't been at all careful about dieting or maintaining, I've heard a few people say how being within 8 stone is the ideal for somebody my height.

I'm not obese but am a bit flabby in some places. I think I look nice in clothes.

If you are 5 ft 3 or close to, how much do you weigh?

5’3”

In my 20s - 8st ish
In my 30s - 9st ish
In my 40s - 9.7 - 10 st
Just hit 50 and currently 10st 2lb.

Would like to be below 10st to squeeze into the ‘healthy’ bmi range. I’m size 12/14.

BeautyIsTruthandTruthBeauty · 09/07/2020 22:49

I’m 32, 5ft 3 and am currently 9 stone 3 or 4. I was 9 stone 10 but lost it during lockdown.

I was 7 stone when I was 20 but I had an eating disorder. I was naturally on the slimmer side anyway but once I hit 22-23 I started putting weight on and haven’t been able to get in a size 8 since then. Currently a 10-12, more often a 12 because I carry weight on my boobs, stomach and hips. I’m a GG cup but have skinny legs.

I was 8 stone 10 a few years ago but I only managed that because I worked a lot of nights and I barely eat on nights. I’d love to be 8 stone 10 but 9 stone is the most realistic weight for me now. Always a bit horrified when I see women on here say they’ve had 4 kids and weigh 8 stone when I’ve never been pregnant. Shock

TheMarzipanDildo · 09/07/2020 22:52

8 stone 3 ish. I’m 20 though. I suspect as others have said age makes a big difference to what looks good on you.

LycraLovingLass · 09/07/2020 23:10

I already posted but will add in my age.

I am 34, 5ft 2.5 and 8st 10lb size 10. 3 dc.

I have 30% body fat though so would like to lose some of that, then bring my weight up with muscle. Now the gym is opening again soon I need a big push to get rid of the fat first.

wheresmolly · 09/07/2020 23:17

I hover around 9 stone but don't generally weigh myself, I just go by how my clothes fit (size 8 ish).

Chicchicchicchiclana · 09/07/2020 23:28

In my 20s I was 8 to 9 stone. Went up to 9.12 when I gave up smoking when I was 29.

In my 30s (childbearing decade) I went up to 10 stone 7.

In my 40s I had another few attempts at giving up smoking and went up to almost 11 stone.

In my 50s I hit the menopause and the weight literally leapt on overnight. Now I weigh more than 11 stone which is awful but it's taken a long time to get here.

ItsMeMyselfandI · 09/07/2020 23:32

I'm 5ft on the nail.
12 stone 3lbs and a size 16.

I'm.atva point where this is as slim.as I'll get. To get below 12 stone means I basicallybhave to stop eating. I've not got below 1stone 12 and sustained it more than a weelnfor 10nuears no matter what sort or eating plan I follow. To maintain this currwnt weight takes alot of will power and determination.

anothermansmother · 09/07/2020 23:39

I'm 10stone 13, and and wear a size 12 on my bottom half and a 16 on my top half (46 inches around my bust) . I'm in the process of losing some of the weight. However I am very top heavy and even when I was 8 stone and a size 4 on my bottom half I was a 14 on my top half. I think a size 10 is fine and your shape also cone into play, I'm very hourglass even if I drop weight, as long as you're comfortable in your clothes it shouldn't matter to anyone else.

MiniTheMinx · 09/07/2020 23:46

Just under 5ft 4 and 8st 3lbs. I get told I'm thin, but I'm not, I have a very small frame and can't carry off more weight. I've still got boobs and a bum. I wear size 8 mostly, sometimes a 6. I'd like to be more robust and less frail looking. I'm 47 and I think being thin is ageing.

MikeUniformMike · 09/07/2020 23:47

Middle aged and 5' 3.5", prefer to be on the lighter side, but need to do more exercise, which would make me less light. I wouldn't want to be over 9st.

wouldntmindbeingmrsw · 09/07/2020 23:52

I'm 5ft 2 and weigh 8.6, I wear a size 6-8 dress size.
I have big boobs, but a small frame and I think I look better with clothes on. Some people think I'm too skinny, but most people are complementary of my figure. I wish my boobs were a bit smaller and my tummy was completely flat. But nobody's perfect and I'm thankful for what I've got.

suniscomingoutnow · 10/07/2020 07:22

5ft 3ins

In my 20s I was 8st 2, now 9st 4 in my late 50s, with a tummy. Size 12, small frame and ample boobs.

I exercise and watch my weight but I do like cake. 😊

Tappering · 10/07/2020 08:48

I'm 41.

In my late teens I went down to 8.7 and got told I looked ill and gaunt.

Settled at 9.10 - 10 in my 20s and that suited me well. Wore size 10/12.

Gained weight in my 30s. Diagnosed with PCOS so I find it difficult to lose.

bottleofbeer · 10/07/2020 10:54

Eight and a half stone, prefer to be eight stone 4. Size 8 in most clothes. Size 10 in some.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 10/07/2020 11:11

if I were ever to get down to 8 stone at 5’4” I think I’d look ill.

I thought that about myself - but 46-47kg is now about right for me. But, I have clinically low levels of muscle as the fallout from an injury so I have a >40% level of body fat even if I'm @ BMI of 22 (I'm not SE Asian or any of the other demographics that need an adjustment to BMI).

Oxyiz · 10/07/2020 11:23

This is a really interesting thread. I'm down from 9.7 a few months ago, I'm at 8.6 at the moment and aiming for 8 or just under it with a slow diet.

Ideally I'd like be back to 7 stone as I was in my early 20s - my body felt "right" back then. But in retrospect I was possibly in eating disorder territory without knowing it.

Srictlybakeoff · 10/07/2020 11:36

57, 5 ft 4, and about 8 stone 10lbs. Was around 8 and a half stone before lockdown, I would like to get back to that or even lower. My face is thin and wrinkly tho so going to increase my exercise rather that dieting too much in the hope that the flabby bits will look better .
I am a size 8 .

QuentinWinters · 10/07/2020 11:45

I'm 5'3 and 9 st 7. Size 10 but an 8 in some shops (Next) and a 12 in others (H&M)
I was 8st after children and looked scrawny with sadly deflated boobs. I'm a bit flabby right now for me but look fine and still fit most of my clothes.
I think I look best at 81/2 stone but my body does not seem to like to be there and is 1/2 stone below or 1/2 stone above usually.

CarnageAtTheGardenCentre · 10/07/2020 11:57

I’m 5ft 3.5 (so I was told) and weigh 10st 3lb, after having lost half a stone.
I’m 54, so to me it’s an ideal weight. Anything lighter would make me look I’ll.

CarnageAtTheGardenCentre · 10/07/2020 12:01

*ill

morefun · 10/07/2020 12:07

popsiclehustler aaw, try not to let the numbers affect your confidence. You can lose weight during pregnancy, but would be careful to get all the nutrients you need and not make yourself unhappy. Maybe do a food diary for a week (I use MyNetDiary) and work out which foods / drinks could be altered for some weight loss and the birth you want Smile

Starlight39 · 10/07/2020 12:13

Usually between 8 stone 3 and 8 stone 5 and a size 8 but over the last year I've gradually gone up to 9 stone and a size 10 due to several early pregnancies. Currently 9 stone 4 but 12 weeks pregnant. I'll aim to get back to 8.5 stone at some point after the baby is born but I'm not super worried about it. Apparently my BMI is currently 23.6. I'm quite small framed though so I do think 8 1/2 stone max is the right weight for me.

MouseholeCat · 10/07/2020 12:29

8 stone 8lb

JMAngel1 · 10/07/2020 12:51

5 foot 3 and weight 8 stone 2 pounds
Usually weight 7 stone 10 but have been doing weights to get more toned.
I'm petite in stature but can have an apple shaped lower abdo if I'm not careful.
I'm size 8 in places like Zara, H&M, Top Shop, Boohoo.

JMAngel1 · 10/07/2020 13:23
