5 ft 3, how much do you weigh?

Jula332 · 09/07/2020 12:00

After years of avoiding the scales out of the fear I would slip back into having a weight complex, I braved it today when visiting my osteopath.

I'm 10 stone and stand at 5 ft 3. My dress size ranges from 10-12 depending where I shop.

I'm not sure whether to be relieved or disappointed as whilst I haven't been at all careful about dieting or maintaining, I've heard a few people say how being within 8 stone is the ideal for somebody my height.

I'm not obese but am a bit flabby in some places. I think I look nice in clothes.

If you are 5 ft 3 or close to, how much do you weigh?

OP posts:

5' 2.5", currently weigh 9 ½ stone which is definitely at least half a stone too much for me - 8 ½ is where I should be really but I suspect that ship has sailed (I'm 62).

polkadotpixie · 09/07/2020 13:39

I'm 5'3 and currently weigh 9st 10lbs. I'm a 10-12 and fairly curvy

I was 10st 4lbs but I've been on a diet for the last 3 weeks

I'm hoping to get down to 9st realistically...8st 7lbs would be the dream but I have to accept that I'm 36 and have had a child so my body is unlikely to be what it was in my 20's 😭

TheySeeHerRowling · 09/07/2020 13:41

Atleastitsnotmonday Are you getting any help? Unless that was a misprint, you weigh a stone less than my 5'3" dd, who has just been referred to the ED service. I hope things get better for you Sad.

INeedNewShoes · 09/07/2020 13:47

I'm 5ft4 and pretty much 11 stone at the moment and wearing size 12 whereas a stone lighter I'm more of a 10. I feel fabulous when I'm 9.5 stone but much lighter than that and people start inquiring whether I'm eating enough!

DoorstoManual · 09/07/2020 13:56

5'3

8 stone 10 (five of those pounds are covid calories and are coming right off when this is over)

Size 8

So OP, you are a healthy weight and if you have maintained that post baby without any effort (particularly during lockdown) then that is great, you have nothing to worry about. Just do regular exercise and don't worry about your diet.

Personally I'm 5'2' and my 'best' weight is between 9lb and 9st8lb.

FamBae · 09/07/2020 14:22

I'm 57 5' 3 apple shaped and carry most of my extra weight around my middle, I'm currently 10st 10lb and hoping to get back to my ideal weight of 9st 7lb instead of buying a new wardrobe this autumn.

Russiandolleyes · 09/07/2020 14:24

I'm 5ft 2 and currently 9 stone 4. I have a one year old (DC3) and had got down to my 'comfortable weight' of 9 stone without too much effort, but lockdown has meant not much exercise and daily treats!

I was 7.5-8 stone before DC (mid-20s) but I don't think my wider hips would allow me back to that weight and I think it would age my face.

I'd love to be closer to 8.5 stone but probably not enough to put in the required effort at the moment!

IndieRo · 09/07/2020 14:26

I am 10 7, size 10. I have a big chest but not big elsewhere. I cant drop below 10 stone or I look skinny. My sister is 9 stone and same height but she looks bigger than me. We all carry weight differently.

YouLando · 09/07/2020 14:28

Currently about 9 st 4lb, having lost about a stone very slowly using Myfitnesspal. I'd like to be about 8 st 5lb.

user1493413286 · 09/07/2020 14:28

I’m 5,3 and 8 stone although due to having hips and boobs I’m mostly a size 10, sometimes an 8 depending on the shop

reducingfootprint · 09/07/2020 14:31

8stone1 i carry my weight well and i am in proportion
i am roughly a size 6

user1493413286 · 09/07/2020 14:32

My best friend is 5,3 and weighs closer to 9 stone and is size 8-10 yet you wouldn’t look at her and say she’s bigger than me; we look like the same size so I can only think that everyone carries weight differently. If I go up to 9 stone then I move up to a size 12.

RealLifeHotWaterBottle · 09/07/2020 14:33

9 and a half stone. Im usually around 9 but have put on some lockdown weight.

Im an hourglass (FF cups and curvy hips), and look best at 9stone Id say.

Bloops · 09/07/2020 14:34

I'm 5' 3.5'' and 7 stone 10. I wear a 6 on top and a 6 or 8 on bottom. Depends on the shop. I never used to gain weight but since my 30s, I've realised if I have a week of indulging, I have to work the extra pounds off!

ShopTattsyrup · 09/07/2020 14:41

I'm 5'3 and am between 9st and 9'4 depending on the day of the week. Size 8 on the bottom and size 10 around my shoulders and bust. Pretty comfortable at this size - I went down to around 8'10 when I was ill last year and looked skeletal

dollybird · 09/07/2020 14:43

I'm 5ft 3 and currently weigh 9st 3-4. I'd prefer to be under 9st. I have a smallish frame so feel like the extra lbs show. Five years ago (at 40) I weighed 7st 10. Felt great at the time, but in hindsight was too thin. I looked old in the face and it made my post baby stretch marks and loose skin look gross.

TryAnotherNickname · 09/07/2020 14:47

Just shy of 8 stone but with large bum/ thighs. I just have very light bones. Size 6,8 or 10 depending on brand and whether top / bottom

Ristar · 09/07/2020 14:48

I'm 5'2 and currently 62kg, I think that's about 10 1/2 st. It's the heaviest I've ever been and due to eating junk during lockdown ☹️

I've got quite a broad/solid build anyway and I feel happiest when I'm around 58kg.

therewerefour · 09/07/2020 14:49

5 ft 4
11 stone 4 pounds
Size 12

I'm overweight and feel awful in my body. I was comfortable between 9 stone 7 and 10 stone.

UmberOmbreUma · 09/07/2020 14:52

I'm 5'2

At my heaviest ive been 11st. I'm currently 8st 10lb and in size 8/10 clothes depending where they are from.

I've got a small frame so any extra weight looks terrible on me as it all goes on my stomach!

PopsicleHustler · 09/07/2020 14:53

Well, today I did my bmi and its 42. I honestly cannot believe it. I'm a size 18 and I am 17 stone apparently according to the hospital weighing system. I like my shape. I am curvy and I dont even look fat. I just have extra chub on my tummy after having 4 children. Yes my legs are thick and I do have cellulite. I had no idea it was that bad. I wear size 18 and I actually love being curvy. But since I had bmi done, i actually feel disgusted with myself and thinking i must look like a right slob. My husband loves me for what I am and always compliments me and says I look nice. But I just feel angry that I am 42 bmi. I'd love to drop it ten points within the next 6 months as I want to be able to have a water birth, but the max bmi for that is 35. Anyone have any idea what's the best way to lose weight and exercise safely during pregnancy????

LionKingOrTigerKing · 09/07/2020 14:55

I'm 5ft 3, but I'm overweight, I weight 13 stone 5lbs Blush although I am losing weight.. slowly.. I have a massive set of boobs and wide hips, I'm a size 14. Hourglass figure, late 20's. I'm aiming to get to about 9stone or a size 10.

PopsicleHustler · 09/07/2020 14:55

I'm 3 months pregnant by the way! During in 5 months so I'd like to drop weight by then as I have appointments booked in October regarding my bmi.
Dont mean to take over your post OP, so hope that's ok if anyone knows how I can lose weight and exercise safely during pregnancy or at least point me on the right direction! Thank you!

PopsicleHustler · 09/07/2020 14:56

My dream would by 14, I was between a 12 and 14 before I had my first child and stayed 14 until my second child, then I suppose I have just put it on gradually having all these kids @LionKingOrTigerKing
