5 ft 3, how much do you weigh?

Jula332 · 09/07/2020 12:00

After years of avoiding the scales out of the fear I would slip back into having a weight complex, I braved it today when visiting my osteopath.

I'm 10 stone and stand at 5 ft 3. My dress size ranges from 10-12 depending where I shop.

I'm not sure whether to be relieved or disappointed as whilst I haven't been at all careful about dieting or maintaining, I've heard a few people say how being within 8 stone is the ideal for somebody my height.

I'm not obese but am a bit flabby in some places. I think I look nice in clothes.

If you are 5 ft 3 or close to, how much do you weigh?

I'm 5"3 and normally about 8st5 but I've gained weight in lockdown and now about 9st2!

Do have plans to try and lose it, friends say I'm being ridiculous but I don't feel comfortable and nothing is fitting!

Poetryinaction · 09/07/2020 15:58

I am usually about 8 and 1/2 stone and size 8-10 but now I am closer to 9stone and a size 10.

Smallgoon · 09/07/2020 15:58

I'm 5'2 and weigh 48kg... which I'm guessing is 7 and half stone.

Talia78 · 09/07/2020 15:58

7st9 - size 8 but my body is still shaped that I have a round tummy

Most definitely not flat - and even when I was smaller before I still don't achieve a flat tummy

I suppose that means I am apple shaped

LittleMachine · 09/07/2020 16:05

I always find these threads really interesting for some reason, especially because someone around the same height and weight as me can have a totally different body shape and clothes size.

I'm about 5 foot 2 and weigh 9 and a half stone. I'm usually a size 12, sometimes a 10 but I have a naturally very sticky out bum and work out every day so it looks giant 🙈 I used to be tiny, size 6 and now I'm pretty curvy but trying to make peace with it, I eat pretty well so I think this is just my weight now.

fantasmasgoria1 · 09/07/2020 16:10

My mum and gran were both 5 ft 3. They usually fluctuated between 7 - 7.5 stones. They were really slim but they looked gaunt as they aged. My mum thankfully put on a stone in her 50s and she looked better for it!

Zisforstripyoss · 09/07/2020 16:35

I go between 8 st 5lbs and 8st 10lbs. I look slim but not skinny, although it depends on your build and where you carry weight as to how you look.

redwinelove · 09/07/2020 16:35

@daisymay133

I’m 5’4 weigh 9.5 stone and I’m a good size 12 - strange how people who weig more are a size 10🤔

I’m
Happy at 8st 12 but I’m a pear with a E cup bust so it takes effort to stay at that weight plus I look scrawny in the chest lower than that

I'm the exact same as you and just bought a size 12 pair on jeans and they don't bloody fit. Usually between 8.7 to about 8.11 to be a size 10. Defo anything above 9 stone I'm a size 12. Confused
NameChange657 · 09/07/2020 16:36

5ft3 and weigh 40 kilos, lockdown stress has caused a little relapse with anorexia but hopefully be able to access some treatment soon, usually aim to be around 50-55kilos

minipie · 09/07/2020 16:47

I’m 5’3 and weigh around 8 st 7 lb. I have a small frame with narrow shoulders, small waist and hips but chunky bum and thighs. A few pounds weight gain is very noticeable on my frame, unfortunately, it shows on my face and limbs and tummy.

I’m happiest at about 8 stone 3 and will be a size 6-8 at that weight (6 on top 8 below) Anything over 8 stone 7 I begin to feel a bit pudgy. 8st or less I look ill.

Having said that, I don’t have much muscle so can imagine there could be heavier people of my size where it’s all muscle and looks fab.

chasingmytail4 · 09/07/2020 17:14

I'm 10st 4lb, trying to lose a stone because I know my clothes look better at around 9st. It's interesting the comments about how different you look depending on your age. I never went above 8st till my forties when I started gaining weight. A couple of years ago I got down to 8st 4lb and my mum helpfully told me I had the body of a teenager, but the face of a 90 year old!

fussychica · 09/07/2020 17:35

5' 4" weight about 9 and a half stone. Size 12 on average though can be a 10 or a 14 depending on the cut. Very broad shoulders and long body. I'm in my mid 60s, used to weigh about a stone lighter in my twenties and thirties but similar body shape to now.

bellissimiaow · 09/07/2020 17:51

I'm 5ft 3 and recently weighed 11st 11 which was the heaviest I've ever been, age 45. I've been dieting for 6 weeks and now down to 11st. I wear a size 14, occasionally a 16 in skinny bottoms.

I'm aiming for 10 stone but may try for 9st7 depending how I look. I spent my 20s and 30s between 8st and 9st 7 without having to watch what I ate at all. Its only really piled on since I turned 40 - i've carried on eating like I did when I was young and its caught up with me.

I carry all my weight on my stomach, my waist was 34 inches at one point but slowly coming down now. My legs are thin though so with baggy tops and skinny bottoms I can get away with looking slim ish.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 09/07/2020 17:57

It's funny how your aspirations change! In my teens I was desperately unhappy that I weighed about 8 stone 10 so went on my first ever diet. I wanted to be under 8 stone. The rest is a sad story of dissatisfaction with my appearance and my weight which has gone on for nearly 40 years. Nowadays I'd be ecstatic if the scales said 9 stone anything, even 9 stone 12!

BerriesAndLeaves · 09/07/2020 18:07

I used to always be dieting as a teen when i weighed under 9 stone too. I think with me i suddenly developed hips and interpreted this as fat when really it was just my natural adult shape. At the time ultra skinny was fashionable, although nowadays i may have found the shape more acceptable. I weigh a lot more now!

feelingsomewhatlost · 09/07/2020 18:07

5'3 and currently 13st 4 Blush – although I was 15st a few months ago! I'm aiming to be 9.7 in a year's time but I'll stop/keep going based on how happy I am with the way I look.

BerriesAndLeaves · 09/07/2020 18:27

That's a very good loss. Well done

AtleastitsnotMonday · 09/07/2020 18:42

TheySeeHerRowling unfortunately not a typo. I’m not getting any help at the moment but have in the past. My go does keep an eye on me. I hope your dd gets the help she needs.

Spied · 09/07/2020 18:48

5'2 (and a half) 10st 10lbs.Size 12-14.
I'm an inverted triangle.

woodlandwalker · 09/07/2020 19:15

I'm 5' 3" and 9 stone 12lb. I was 10 stone 6lb 6 months ago and hoping to lose more. Until my 40s I was around 7 stone 7lb and never dieted, was size 10/12. I'm now size 14/16, was up to 18 in skinny jeans. I have a narrow frame and little muscle bulk and am apple shaped (though I do look quite small). Most of you are a smaller size at a similar weight. I hope to get back to 9 stone but look gaunt at any less.

therapydrama · 09/07/2020 19:20

@CorianderLord oh god no. It looks super weird because I'm so short (sorry girls we are!) i look like a squished hourglass 😂

Movingup · 09/07/2020 19:24

5 foot 3 here- usually around 8 stone 5lbs. Pear shaped wear size 10-12 on bottom, size 6-8 on top. Eat mostly healthy but a lot of it, have a very physical full time job.

Fressia123 · 09/07/2020 19:34

10.5st. Size 8, and same height (5ft3). I lift and you can see some definition.

MargotB7 · 09/07/2020 19:34

I posted earlier 5ft3 10st5, trying to lose some. Didn't say size, its 10/12 but I'm top heavy. At my preferred weight 9st5 I'm a 10.

Camomila · 09/07/2020 19:35

5'3" and 8 1/2 stone. Want to lose half a stone of baby weight as lots of my nice clothes are too tight atm.

Size 8/10 atm, am usually a 6/8.
