I can’t believe I just wrote that thread title.

It doesn’t make sense to me. I loved her.

@Pillowfightnight there are four of us, but only two were allowed to be with her because of the current situation.

I’m so lucky I was with her. I feel for the two of us that weren’t. I had to hold my phone to her ear so my sisters could say their goodbyes.

That was hard.

We have the exact same hands. Funny what you notice.

I was holding her hand today, and I just thought, what have these mother’s hands done?

Held us all, mixed our feeds, changed our nappies, brought up burps, made our clothes, cooked endless dinners, decorated our home (Dad was useless at wallpapering), grown veg, worked as a dinner lady and in a factory for 20 years, made those cakes and dolls houses, nursed grandchildren and great-grandchildren, given dad his medication, learned to drive at 58...just two hands and a lifetime of work.

After dad died she took up knitting again. She knitted little hats for SCBU babies.

It sounds like I’m making her up. She wasn’t perfect, honest Wink

I am so sorry for you Flowers, your mum and dad are together tonight and I think it's that thought that could help you through this very sad time. I think it's great you come from a close knit family. It maybe an idea to try take up her hobby of knitting or embroidery and it may also help you feel close to herFlowers

2020times · 01/07/2020 21:46

Very sorry for your loss Flowers can’t even begin to imagine what what you’re going through

Autumnwalksx · 01/07/2020 21:49

Bless your mum. So sad. It's heartbreaking as we remember them young and taking care of us. My mum's currently in hospital after an emergency fracture operation. She's nearly 70. Ive been going over all the happy carefree years.

Fill your mind with those lovely memories. All the birthdays and laughs and family traditions. That's what life is all about. You would have filled her with so much love and happiness over the years. Take care xxFlowers

LunaNorth · 01/07/2020 21:51

I’m going to try to sleep now.

Thank you so much, everyone.

Sorry for your loss - it’s shit isn’t it - lost both of my parents within five weeks of each other a few years back however I have some happy memories for sure 🍷 and 🦘

temproasted · 01/07/2020 21:52

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's brutal. I lost my Dad 3 weeks ago, he was a similar age to your mum and expected but it still hurts of course. I feel like I've blocked it out for the past week and keep thinking 'oh I'm not sad anymore' but it's just because I'm not thinking about him which probably isn't healthy. Thanks

mineofuselessinformation · 01/07/2020 21:53

Sleep well, OP, and when things get desperate, remember what you said about her hands - you know she loved you, and she is at peace now. Thanks

sarahC40 · 01/07/2020 21:53
