@Willow2017

Ok just to take off at a tangent...dies anyone have an easy belly pork strips recipie? Apparently there isnt one on the whole of MN according to advanced search which is rubbish anyway and I am not trawling through 1500 posts on the food thread! Help!
This one's really, really good.
iamapixie · 19/06/2020 21:29

That is turning into a really unpleasant thread. What a surprise. Not. Why why why can't people just be polite? I'm sure none of us is an angel and we're all clearly really different people but we manage to be grown up. It's not that hard is it?

Khione · 19/06/2020 21:29

That post was vile and demonstrates the reason for this thread. It made me feel sick and I don't even 'know' the poster referred to.

Drivingdownthe101 · 19/06/2020 21:31

I shouldn’t have engaged with her really. But her post really was vile.

Dowser · 19/06/2020 21:32

So sorry livin
It doesn’t make it any easier does it

AnxiousElephant77 · 19/06/2020 21:34

I can't even see the thread?

Teateaandmoretea · 19/06/2020 21:34

That is turning into a really unpleasant thread.

Every thread becomes unpleasant these days. I don’t know what has happened to MN. It’s like it’s been taken over by the same people who post in daily mail comments.

@drivingdownthe101 you are our head girl, so it is your duty

Dowser · 19/06/2020 21:41

Can you link to it khione, Please I’ve been too busy here there and everywhere to cat home up on other threads.

Was putting Netflix on tonight and the local news popped up first. We don’t watch the news.
The newsreader mentioned a BLM protest in middlesbrough today.
Me and dh looked at each other and kind of said, where was that. That’s what the guys in the yellow jackets were doing.

We saw nothing. We thought the guys were covid Testing ..as we swerved into Debenhams.
I don’t fancy anything being rammed up my nostrils...unless absolutely forced.

To be fair if the protest was outside the town hall it is out of the main shopping area.

Mr Dowser is always saying I go round with my eyes shut.
Had a lovely day and even managed to avoid the deluge.

Might do York tomorrow.

Dowser · 19/06/2020 21:42

Cat home..catch up

Khione · 19/06/2020 21:48

Driving has linked to the thread. The specific post was removed. She was slating this thread and then got personal and really nasty about a specific unnamed poster. I quoted the thread and then thought again and reported it - I expect a few others did too.

justasking111 · 19/06/2020 21:48

Deaths yesterday England 46, Scotland 6, Wales 4, NI 1 = 57.

Then deaths announced 173.

I always wonder about the poor souls 116 of them who make up the remainder, who were they?

AnxiousElephant77 · 19/06/2020 21:53

I despair.

And I'm also made up to be part of the OG anti-dementor threads because as a world champion catastrophist, they are the only things that have kept me sane.

fartingsparkles · 19/06/2020 21:53

Those anti 'us' threads 🙄

These threads have been a saviour for me (and I know others have said the same). This whole period has hit hard and you lovely lot have provided much needed sanity and sanctuary. They are proof that we can have proper discussions, accept different views and understand why people are struggling for a variety of reasons. We can also swear like troopers and rant and vent when needed!

Heigh ho, heigh ho, onto thread 15 we go!!

DesmondTheMoonbear · 19/06/2020 21:54

I'm having to avoid that awful thread. I'm having a rare comparatively good mental health day and I don't want to ruin it.

Waitrose felt almost normal today. I actually enjoyed shopping. It was such a different experience from last week when I had a breakdown in another store because of their stupid one way system and rude staff members. I often need help to shop for various reasons and no one questioned why we both went into the store at the same time. I hate having to explain my disabilities.

I'm dreading next week though when face masks become compulsory on public transport. I can't drive and need public transport unless a family member is available to take me like today. I have a bus pass because of my disabilities and I am printing an exemption card to show to the drivers but I'm terrified that the driver, or worse, passengers will make a fuss. I'll be very angry and upset if I'm expected to explain my disabilities to other passengers. I'll either get very angry, not aggressive though, or end up in tears. Probably the latter as I have trouble with my emotions.

Mascotte · 19/06/2020 21:58

@DesmondTheMoonbear I'm planning to swathe a scarf round and pull it up over mouth if absolutely necessary

HesterShaw1 · 19/06/2020 22:00

Oh Desmond 😪How shit that you feel so worried about other people's ignorant reactions. Why can't people just be nicer?

justasking111 · 19/06/2020 22:00

You do not have to wear a mask, face covering they say so just put a scarf over your mouth and nose, pretty useless but will shut folk up Desmond.

Mascotte · 19/06/2020 22:00

In my head I see it more as Turkish delight ad than pseudo surgical chic.

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 19/06/2020 22:01

I'll either get very angry, not aggressive though, or end up in tears. Probably the latter as I have trouble with my emotions.

Does practising the situation help?

I sometimes do that when I'm expecting trouble - often seems to ward it off but even if the exact situation I've planned for doesn't happen I often still feel more in control.

NothingIsWrong · 19/06/2020 22:01

These threads are my haven. I've had some very dark days and you lot have pulled me back every time. I was ready to give up on Mumsnet after the sheer vitriol and mayhem. But you guys... ah, you guys!

DesmondTheMoonbear · 19/06/2020 22:03

Mascotte I hope that it won't be necessary for you.

I can't tolerate anything at all around my mouth, not even a strand of my own hair, and have a form of asthma, so if necessary I'll get off the bus(and complain) if need be. I think that I need to work on my steely glare. It's depressing how much ignorance there is around disabilities, more so than ever or so it feels, between comments on MN and other social media and stores introducing so called safety measures that make life much harder for many people who are disabled or have health conditions.

justasking111 · 19/06/2020 22:04

Just seen Boris on tv, he has lost the blubber, well done him.

HesterShaw1 · 19/06/2020 22:04

Education is the lead item on the news at 10.

Lots of happy little socially distanced girls singing Happy Birthday to the PM. goodness, his hair is just frightful.

Mascotte · 19/06/2020 22:06

Oh @DesmondTheMoonbear sounds really tricky.

I'm not keen but just cause it freaks me and I'm not convinced of the science. They seem pretty grrotty to me too.

Be strong.. the ADs are behind you
