This'll be thread number 13, I think.

Let's hope it's a lucky one Grin

(Sorry about the feeble title)

I'm going to IKEA tomorrow - anyone want to come? I know a member of staff and he's assured me it's practically deserted about 3 pm. If he's lied, I'll hunt him down and breathe on him Grin

BogRollBOGOF · 16/06/2020 10:28

We definitely need some retail therapy after the excitement in the media yesterday Grin

Shodan · 16/06/2020 10:28

@BamboozledandBefuddled I quite fancy a trip to IKEA but it's a shitty long drive from where I am.

Have a look round the marketplace and buy some useless tat for me please Smile

No problem @Shodan Smile I'm under strict instructions to buy bookshelves and ONLY bookshelves Hmm What's the point of bookshelves if I don't buy tat to clutter them up?Confused A bit of extra tat won't be noticed!

Laniakea · 16/06/2020 10:32

Optician today (maybe justifiable homicide?) and Tiger (party decorations!) that’s out and out first degree premeditated killing.

BogRollBOGOF · 16/06/2020 10:33

I'm brewing for a trip to Decathlon. It's next to IKEA so at least they've had a few weeks to calm down. I'm pleased retail is open, but I always favour quieter timeslots anyway.

Just had a murdering trip into the shops, got a bit lost in M&S as it swept me along with it's one way system past some seriously frumpy frocks...managed to get out again (whew) was going to look in Gap but a queue for that, so went in a couple of small shops such as Apricot, a clothes shops which was better (no one way system as small and only me in there)

I noticed the men in Lush looked a bit less full-on and though that might be a ship where the distancing might be helpful perhaps (they can be a bit OTT and full on) although not so good for their hands on style...

Anyway overall busy ish, for a weekday. I think I will go for the smaller shops where can buy different stuff and stick with online for things like school clothes from M&S so as to avoid it maybe.

Checking in

I'm not really one for shopping but will take one for the team if it's for the greater good.

I need a new armchair.

HesterShaw1 · 16/06/2020 10:38

Tittering at orangeblossom helplessly being swept through M&S's one way system against her will. "STOP! STOP! I need hosiery!"

DrearyWallAntler · 16/06/2020 10:39

Popping in here.

Orangeblossom78 · 16/06/2020 10:43

The arrows just seemed to keep going on, further in but not going back out again Blush

Mascotte · 16/06/2020 10:44

Dementored irl today by someone I hit on well with before this. First tine seeing them and they tell me oh, but cases have gone up in England...

"No, they haven't", said I. "Oh, do you know better?" said they.

Then how it will be a long time til schools are back ...

AnxiousElephant77 · 16/06/2020 10:46

Checking in and agreeing about Spain fudging their figures.

rosettesforjill · 16/06/2020 10:47

Checking in! I've sadly murdered a couple of NHS Heroes by dropping DD off at nursery for her first solo settling in session. Would have murdered a couple more people as well by paying in some cheques but my bank are kindly "supporting their customers" by opening for approximately five minutes every third day.

Not allowed to stay in the nursery so I'm sitting in Tesco car park procrastinating working hard on my laptop.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 16/06/2020 10:50

Checking in at the checkout. I'm off to buy a new keyboard for the p.c thus pnes fickd.

Drivingdownthe101 · 16/06/2020 10:52

Spain are definitely fudging their figures. To the extent that they’ve just stopped reporting them in the hope that people won’t notice.

If it's the one in Bath, I got lost in there about 3 years ago...took me a good 1/2 hour to escape...I actually yelled "freedoooommmm" when I finally got out.
TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 16/06/2020 10:53

I took ds2 out yesterday. We went to the independent stationer/bookshop/toy shop/newsagent and bought stationery and celebratory Lego mini figures. It was lovely.

bookworm14 · 16/06/2020 10:53

Checking in. I can’t keep up!

CruCru · 16/06/2020 10:55

Checking in. It was my birthday yesterday and I have a Hangover.

KaronAVyrus · 16/06/2020 10:56

Can’t wait to go shopping (Scotland).

NannyPhlegm · 16/06/2020 10:56

Happy birthday Cru

countrygirl99 · 16/06/2020 11:05

rosettes you should be able to pay in cheques at an external ATM, unless you are somewhere where they won't give planning permission for one.

Gammeldragz · 16/06/2020 11:06

After sulking yesterday that I won't go to shops because the schools aren't open, I'm sorely tempted to pop in to the nearest small town with the DCs just for a change of scenery for them. Not sure much will be open as they aren't many shops (I'd love if the chairity shops were open!) but we could probably get some minor murdering done just by walking up and down the High St. There may even be chips!

Neighbour was saying her secondary school have said they may not be back to normal until January! I tried to point out that if the numbers keep dropping then we should be able to scrap all the distancing and lockdown by September, I mean surely it won't be needed when cases are really low?! But now I can't tell if I'm being reasonable and realistic or deluded wishful thinking!

BogRollBOGOF · 16/06/2020 11:06

My conspiracy theory about figure is that many countries are under reporting either through lack of systems/ infrastructure or like Spain to make themselves look less disastrous, or in our case, hyper reporting to justify social control measures and keep the population terrified compliant.

I'm not convinced that the UK stats are significantly out of line with other European countries.
