You were nice. It made me feel a little ashamed that I wasn't as nice!

SpnBaby1967 · 15/06/2020 21:20

Evening murderers!

Today I had all 3 of my kids back into school today, the peace in the house was blissful & picking them up at 3PM all hot and sweaty & red faced but happy was wonderful.

Now, if I could just get rid of my permanently blocked nose life would be feeling a bit better.

Ibake · 15/06/2020 21:23

@psychomath your post was lovely. I don't think I've encountered hooves before. I've never seen anyone so resolutely determined to knock back and shout down each and every suggestion. Desperately sad. Wonder what she's like irl? People can't really be like that, surely?

RubberDinghyRapids · 15/06/2020 21:27

Evening all! Well... MN has been busy today, hasn't it? I've been out with my sisters at a local NT open space then back to one of theirs for a cuppa in the garden. DD had a whale of a time playing in a garden which wasn't hers and had bigger/better toys. Last time we saw them she burst into tears when they left, but she was knackered from sun, air and playing with her cousins so came quietly Grin.

Was going to send DH to Ikea but they've sold out of what I wanted. Now being delivered next Monday. And I'm being sick at the delivery price (which I guess is only what I would have impulsively spent on kitchen gadgets and outdoor lighting if I'd gone in person anyway but still Angry)

psychomath · 15/06/2020 21:31

Well I've certainly done my share of not being nice on MN over the years, guess I'm just atoning for my sins Grin

I'm mounting an expedition to Waterstones tomorrow in search of a Terry Pratchett book. It's about an hour's walk each way (cba waiting for the bus when they're only letting a few people on) but will be so worth it! Just hoping it doesn't pour with rain.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 15/06/2020 21:33

@Drivingdownthe101 that story about your neighbour and her partner is lovely.

But when restaurants and pubs open, today will look like a calm oasis of reason and logic.

We’ll need to drink through the horror. So it’ll be handy that the pubs are open Grin

I think we should just go and then tell them about it when we get back Grin

Willow2017 · 15/06/2020 21:37

Poof!
THread filled up before I could reply to the idiot who thought her working meant people werent allowed out to shop as she was risking her life for them by working!

FFS the world has truley gone tits up.

If people werent shopping I wouldnt have had a job for last 6 months!

Ibake · 15/06/2020 21:42

@psycho I went to Waterstones today, it was great. Wasn't sure if we'd be allowed to browse or handle the merch - and how can you buy a book without reading the blurb - but they told me to browse away and that's what the hand sanitiser was for. Hope your branch is equally as lovely.

NothingIsWrong · 15/06/2020 21:43

I work outside the house. And it's essential work as well. Get shopping!

Khione · 15/06/2020 21:45

@HesterShaw1

Love the fact that someone had a pop at 'dementors' and that they've got their own threads and shouldn't be on that one. They quite clearly meant 'anti demontor' but got it wrong and now none of the responses make any sense!

Oh dear, I might be partly responsible for the ensuing confusion, as I was the first to bite! I didn't notice the lack of "anti" before "dementor" even though it was clearly this thread she was talking about Grin

Oh well.

I think it was better as you had it @HesterShaw1. As it was started as an anti dementor thread.

AND there are far more threads out there already for the dementors. This is the only one that is wholly ant dementor.

NothingIsWrong · 15/06/2020 21:47

Also public sector so crack on and pay taxes so I don't get made redundant

Or worse, outsourced... I've been there before and it was hideous. Carillion

BakewellTarts · 15/06/2020 21:48

Yes it is Barracudas. Not cheap but the DDs love the camp. I wish they'd waited I was hoping for some normaility over the summer. I suspect they had a date to cancel before incurring fees. All are run on others premises many at private schools. Might have to see if anything else runs over the summer.

Playdates might work but at 14 DD1 needs me not to be organising her social life. We live in a village and she has two lovely friends in the village but others are spread over the county. Not entirely easy for her.

TheGreatWave · 15/06/2020 21:50

Mid meltdown from ds I had my own rant about the lack of services, no one was prepared to help us before lock-down, they won't help us after for sure, despite things having got worse.

BakewellTarts · 15/06/2020 21:50

Supercamps have also cancelled. I suspect most are calling it this week. The government have left it too late. Interesting that there was a question on this on the Sadly Daily Death Show today too. Parents and children have been completely screwed over the summer.

ThatLibraryMiss · 15/06/2020 21:53

Someone doesn't understand risk at all. Someone thinks the virus is going to leap across the pavement in the three seconds it takes to walk past someone else, supposing that someone else is the 1 in 3,500-or-so
CV-19 positive people that the worst affected London borough has, if it has ten times more cases now than it did two weeks ago.

psychomath · 15/06/2020 21:54

Ibake that sounds great! I haven't been into a big shop since a disastrous Tesco trip about two weeks in, so I'm hoping if all goes well tomorrow I'll feel brave enough to try the supermarket again (not worried about COVID, more about being shouted at for accidentally breaking a rule). Been shopping at my local M&S food hall throughout lockdown, which is lovely but pricey, and it doesn't sell frozen hash browns.

Russellbrandshair · 15/06/2020 21:55

That shopping thread is a classic example of dementoring. It’s not enough to blast people for breaking the actual rules- now they’re flaming people for doing what is LEGALLY ALLOWED! Text book dementor behaviour- making up even stricter rules in your head and then you can criticise more people for not following. It’s insane.

It's been a while since there has been such frothy entertaining dementoring in action. Sense is creeping in gradually in more waves than the second spike we're still on tenterhooks for Grin

There has been progress since the crisps on a bench brigade (about 2 months ago?)... well for most of us... Wink

Just wait for 4th July and the indignent, righteous frothing over pubs... We'll be needing doubles Grin

KaronAVyrus · 15/06/2020 22:10

Just watching the bbc news (haven’t watched it for 4 weeks) and it really is dementor central. It’s on par with the Daily Mail.

Mascotte · 15/06/2020 22:13

It's like the olden days, dementor wise.

psychomath · 15/06/2020 22:19

Even the frothiest of threads are more balanced now though. In the real olden days it would be one person who wanted to go for a short drive, drowning in a sea of frothers screaming "MURDERER! COVIDIOT! DUNKIRK!!!"

Laniakea · 15/06/2020 22:19

I'm trying to recall all the the Death Spikes we've somehow escaped - Mothers' day, Easter Eggs, bench-sitting, VE day, B&Q, BBQs, beaches, IKEA, BLM protests ... I expect they're holding out for certain Primani Death.

Russellbrandshair · 15/06/2020 22:20

Yes, it’s throwback Monday! I suspect just like the crisps on a bench hysteria it will slowly fade the longer the shops are open and the apocalypse doesn’t materialise. Then it will start all over again with pubs and restaurants as bogroll suggests- anyone who goes out for a meal will be murdering hundreds etc etc even when it’s actually allowed.

Willitneverend · 15/06/2020 22:35

There is a lot of SNP dementing going on about the schools. I'm not really sure if telling parents they want their kids back in school for selfish reasons and they don't understand that this will cause DEATH is going to win them many votes.
