I cannot fucking wait!!

Drivingdownthe101 · 15/06/2020 20:29

I want to go to a restaurant. A posh one. And spend a fuck ton of money on good food and wine.

Drivingdownthe101 · 15/06/2020 20:29

And not have to clean up after the meal myself!!!!

NothingIsWrong · 15/06/2020 20:30

@BarkandCheese I have really enjoyed today. I've really hated MN a few times in the last few weeks but pigeon999's amazing optimism has been fabulous :)

NothingIsWrong · 15/06/2020 20:31

@Mascotte are you going to join me for gin night in The Masons up the road? £25 for 5 double G&T, all different with tasting notes.

Tasting notes get progressively less read as the evening wears on, and we usually stagger home about 12.30 and try not to wake the kids...

Yes! Her posts made me really happy.

I’m just praying that people will be able to stay at each other’s houses soon (I mean whole families, not just single people) because that might mean the IoW ferries will start taking people again. At the moment it’s all for essential journeys only and anyone travelling gets asked the purpose of their journey.

NothingIsWrong · 15/06/2020 20:34

Purpose "having some fucking fun, you joy sponge"

Not sure that would cut the mustard though.

So have I Grin. I didn’t even get frustrated when I was repeatedly banging my head against a brick wall on the shopping thread. I can read those posts now and they no longer affect me... I feel free!

Heh heh, yeah might not go down too well. The thing is, the ferries have been cut right down and there is a real risk that someone turning up will be turned back so we are properly cut off from the mainland (which is why they’re testing that Track and Trace app here).
Drivingdownthe101 · 15/06/2020 20:40

I’m happy this evening as the woman across the road has finally had her partner inside the house Grin. They’re both in their 50’s and don’t live together, and since the start of lockdown he’s driven round every evening and they’ve chatted outside with him at the end of the drive for 10 mins. Every time he drove away she would keep waving until he had disappeared from view then turn back with tears in her eyes. When they announced the bubbles I thought ‘yes he can go inside now’ but on Saturday and Sunday he still sat at the end of the drive. Tonight he has gone inside!!!! I am so over invested Grin

psychomath · 15/06/2020 20:43

Mine is the one that tells people who are going to the shops to pick up a 'shed load' of luxury good and deliver them to the doorstep of the shielding

I am so bored I might actually consider this if it got me out of the house. Unfortunately I don't know any shielding people so I will just have to leave stuff on random people's doorsteps

Drivingdownthe101 · 15/06/2020 20:43

I’m also happy because for the first time since we bought this house 2.5 years ago I finally have two hot, powerful, working showers! I am nearly £1000 lighter but it’s worth every bloody penny!
And I have gin.

BogRollBOGOF · 15/06/2020 20:46

@NothingIsWrong

I WANT TO GO TO THE PUB.
I'm looking forwards to taking the kids to the pub 9-3 on a school day Grin
HesterShaw1 · 15/06/2020 20:48

Pigeon has been an absolute hero! She needs a medal.

Love the description of watching the day unfold, munching popcorn 😂

Willow2017 · 15/06/2020 20:48

@HesterShaw1

A poster has just written her such a kind reply it almost made me well up. I do feel for her in her position, but...well...🤷‍♀️
But she doesnt live alone, she has a husband! So that poster who was kind was wasting her time trying to be nice as she didnt even have the decency to correct her.
Littlebelina · 15/06/2020 20:49

Bakewelltarts, that's not barracudas is it? Was just reading their reasons for cancelling (we have one near us although never used them) . Some of it makes sense but some of it reads off, slight misinterpretation of government guidance in places eg primary schools can take other years if they have space and it's ideally 8 but up to 16 for early years. Making the call now, when there are hints there might be further info on summer holiday camps this week is interesting as well. Do they all run in other people's settings? Wonder if it's a financial thing if they had to start paying out to book places?

Our holiday club said last week they were opening so fingers crossed they do. Not as varied as barracudas but will take anything!

Orangeblossom78 · 15/06/2020 20:53

Must make such a difference having a husband while shielded to drive you places and get shopping etc. My friend with MS manages alone. She can't walk, at all. I met her out with her little dog on her mobility scooter the other day and we watched a car rally, she asked all about how the DC were doing and we had a chat. It's strange but the ones I know are not dementors at all.

InfiniteGerbils · 15/06/2020 20:54

Actually crying with laughter at @Pidgeon999 s relentless optimism and this slice of gold from @desmondthemoonbear

Someone really should have told me that it's National Piss On The Op's Cornflakes Day. I almost missed out

HesterShaw1 · 15/06/2020 20:56

What??!! She doesn't live alone? 😮😮🤬🤬

I was almost sucked into pitying her. Cant believe she didn't correct her. Thars bloody low.

TheGreatWave · 15/06/2020 20:58

BarkandCheese Thank you. The aim was to make one tonight, unfortunately ds (ASD) chose tonight to completely lose it and I am still recovering (it was so bad I actually had to go and apologise to the neighbour)

Thankfully, the fear overcame me in B&M when I popped over earlier to get hedgehog food and I paid through the nose for some disposable ones, it pains and I will be making some, but the disposable may be good if another of us needs to just pop to the doctors. When dh popped up to the hospital today to take some clean clothes for MIL they were giving them out at the entrance - still no visiting allowed though Sad

My big boss is shielding, quite a few weeks ago he wrote a letter for me as ds was refusing to go out, (ds didn't think he was allowed to) he seems quite sane.

I WANT TO GO TO THE PUB.

Me too, and I don't drink and can't even remember the last time I went to a pub (going with the family for a meal withstanding)

Mascotte · 15/06/2020 21:00

@HesterShaw1 no, I remember from ages ago when there was moaning she couldn't get shopping. Except her working dh was able to buy it...

NothingIsWrong · 15/06/2020 21:01

Oh I drink. More now than ever.

Shall I have cold rice pudding out of the gin for my supper? Is the actual food of the gods...

PickAChew · 15/06/2020 21:02

@Drivingdownthe101 enjoy the showers. We're so far from getting our upstairs shower usable that we've put a shelving unit in it and store all our decorating stuff in there!

HesterShaw1 · 15/06/2020 21:03

Cold rice pudding out of the gin.

That sounds fucking lush, fair play

psychomath · 15/06/2020 21:17

Oh I think you're all talking about me, this is weird Blush I don't really want to see the response so I'm not going back to that thread, but it's nice that people think I was nice, even if misguidedly!

My favourite was the poster accusing pigeon of being a paid shill. Because obviously the most effective way for the government to end social distancing is by paying people to post random threads on Mumsnet pretending they're going shoe shopping.
