@mightbealittlebitmad ... Ikea last week, not queue at all. No restrictions for number of people per household allowed in either.

should give you a channel to thread electric through.

^^Quite like the idea of electrified masks.

Honestly the lunatic threads like the shopping one are refreshing - they are so far beyond reasonable that they are doing our work for us.

Orangeblossom78 · 15/06/2020 17:09

I am surprised they are so naive to just blindly believe some random's post on social media and just accept it without question

Quite worrying. Yes I have read some people with e.g. diabetes do get very ill but that seems to be to do with their condition going out of control in response to the virus and / or having an unusual immune reaction to it (over reaction) so it is not simple.

They don't do critical thinking though just hysteria.

Laniakea · 15/06/2020 17:15

they desperately want to believe

@BarkandCheese

The fabric is from a huge king sized duvet cover I bought for £1 at a boot fair for the fabric. I make a lot of costumes for DDs youth theatre and second hand duvet covers are the best value fabric per square meter you can get.
All this and sewing tips too!

That is such a useful thing to know. Smile

justasking111 · 15/06/2020 17:16

Friends husband is a policeman in Wales and yes they were out this morning stopping cars crossing the borders to England to shop. She said it really is Gilead now. Sad

BarkandCheese · 15/06/2020 17:17

Ohh, next time I name change I’m so tempted to be underground shite street 😂.

I’m not really that good at sewing. I tried dress making but found it a bit frustrating, what I like is making costumes because of the creativity involved. Halloween costumes are my specialty, when I can get back out to the charity shops again for base materials I have a plan to make myself some kind of epic gothic/steampunk style one for next Halloween.

Ibake · 15/06/2020 17:17

@Orangeblossom78 I didn't take them on as didn't feel up to it (but am enjoying your posts) but I have just pointed out to them that speculation is pointless when it's so easy to check. She's in the states. The line I just deleted over on the other thread because I'm a chicken is that she's obviously not completely swamped at work given just how many times a day she tweets!

BogRollBOGOF · 15/06/2020 17:21

The shopping thread has turned back into crisps on a bench Grin

Orangeblossom78 · 15/06/2020 17:22

The profile on twitter of that person looks pretty dodgy. I mean I am not sure, as I rarely go on there. I'll leave them be now. Good to hear the Scottish news about schools, must tell my family there

Scottish pupils should get back to "normal" schooling "as quickly as possible", Nicola Sturgeon has said.

Ibake · 15/06/2020 17:26

Oh, and sorry @Orangeblossom78 if you thought my 'oh for heavens sake' was aimed at you, I've just seen you replied and am worried it was to me. It's because they were all piling on to you and passing sniffy comments but then I read it back and realised that's what you might have thought. Sorry!

ThatLibraryMiss · 15/06/2020 17:28

@SockYarn

Fuck me that shopping thread.

Same old names cropping up again and again with their second wave, everyone's going to DIE bullshit.

I may have got a bit sweary.

One that I particularly recognise from months ago, who was in self-imposed isolation therefore her neighbours shouldn't use their garden, is still in fine fettle.
BarkandCheese · 15/06/2020 17:28

The thing about underlying health conditions is as you get older you tend to start collecting them. I can’t think of a single man in my close friends and family circle over seventy ive ever know who didn’t have either high blood pressure, heart issues, type 2 diabetes or cancer/cancer in remission or sometimes a combination of these.

Orangeblossom78 · 15/06/2020 17:28

Oh I didn't see that, don't worry! Smile I don't care if they make silly comments anymore. I just think they are funny.

Orangeblossom78 · 15/06/2020 17:29

To Ibake

SockYarn · 15/06/2020 17:32

remember all the dementoring about how it was all the Atletico Madrid fans coming into Liverpool for a match "what done it"? Have just read the following on the bbc:

"The study also says the controversial football match between Liverpool and Atletico Madrid, on 11 March, probably had very little impact on bringing the virus into the country.

An estimated 3,000 fans flew in from Spain to watch the game, but there were 20,000 people flying in from Spain every single day in mid-March.

"[It] shows that individual events such as football matches likely made a negligible contribution to the number of imports at that time," the study says."

Mascotte · 15/06/2020 17:37

Goodness! The madness reigns again.

I'm so jealous of actual shopping though. I'm doing my level best online mind you.

Ibake · 15/06/2020 17:38

@Orangeblossom78 phew!

@Drivingdownthe101 christ you're taking a battering over there, well done you're holding up brilliantly!

Love the fact that someone had a pop at 'dementors' and that they've got their own threads and shouldn't be on that one. They quite clearly meant 'anti demontor' but got it wrong and now none of the responses make any sense!

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 15/06/2020 17:40

There was a rugby match here blamed.

They said the same unlikely to be that but then our leaders blamed the English but the English counties nearby had really low levels - so then they blamed Londoners not explaining how they managed not infected the Englsih counties they'd have had to travel though to get here.

Khione · 15/06/2020 17:42

@mightbealittlebitmad

Shopping thread is hilarious but I am interested to know more about the lack of queues for IKEA? I'm in desperate need of a visit but I don't have time to spend hours in the queue if I go in the week.
l Heard it was busy first couple of days but now pretty norma;
Willow2017 · 15/06/2020 17:47

Oh lordy its monotonous! 'I cant so you cant and you're selfish shits if you are' is back again on all those 'cheery' threads! Same old same old, why do they bother? Arse handed on a plate several times.
People are so against anyone having the slightest bit of fun if they can't/won't its depressing.

Dowser · 15/06/2020 17:49

I still think her and drake ford need to be tried for crimes against humanity

We are not planning for blended learning, says Sturgeon
Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has said that it is "absolutely not the case" that the Scottish Government are planning for blended learning of school pupils.

Drivingdownthe101 · 15/06/2020 17:49

Ibake I went out for a bit and am just catching up on it all Grin

Orangeblossom78 · 15/06/2020 17:49

MN is certainly entertaining in an odd way. At least you can always think, well at least I am not one of these depressing sense of humour bypasses, I suppose.

Orangeblossom78 · 15/06/2020 17:50

I reckon it is underlying FOMO
