@MrsArchchancellorRidcully that's some call to curtain twitchers. Shit.

Nihiloxica · 15/06/2020 13:40

So let me get this straight...

A school is threatening to exclude a child based on "observation" of how well their family complies with government guidelines.

Well that's a human rights case waiting to happen.

Fuck me.

HesterShaw1 · 15/06/2020 13:42

What the ACTUAL fuck?

Do they not realise how disturbing this is? It's not even necessary! Please tell me someone in that community is vocally up in arms against this horrible power trip!

countrygirl99 · 15/06/2020 13:45

I have a friend who I keep snoozing as she is very dementorish, DH was talking to her OH today - teenage daughter has been going to parties in barns with her young farmer friends all along.
Re the PPE sewing a retired friend was part of a group sewing scrubs and ear savers but they were asked to stop weeks ago as the local hospital was swamped.

MagdaS · 15/06/2020 13:46

There’s someone on my FB demanding all the other children at her child’s school effectively self isolate outside school permanently so her child isn’t at risk. She’s utterly bonkers.

HesterShaw1 · 15/06/2020 13:51

OK, I'm not going back to the shops thread. I'm starting to be too sarcastic. But it's like sport. Someone just actually used the phrase "tinkly laugh" on me Grin

Anyway, just off to the shops. I know that's contemptible when people are DYING and I should stay in until 2060.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 15/06/2020 13:55

Stay A Lert hester!

Given we as a global population have been unable to eradicate the bubonic plague for hundreds of years - what on Earth are we playing at?

That’s dreadful re: the Welsh stasi.

Orangeblossom78 · 15/06/2020 13:57

I despair in my teen. Sent home off with some pocket money in case after his morning at school (all they are getting) he wanted to go to the shops with his mates

He came straight home and is now studying. They all were either picked up or walked home Hmm

I know I should in a way be pleased as he has quite a bit of work to do but I'm also a bit sad.

BlackberryViolet · 15/06/2020 13:57

If a school is saying they will exclude based on a pupil being observed, who does the observing? Or are they expecting people to grass up their children’s classmates? Seems to be a green light for any bullying arse to make people’s lives hell. Because if there one thing this whole shit show has taught me is that a lot of people aren’t actually that decent, there are a lot of arseholes around

HesterShaw1 · 15/06/2020 13:57

Not for the first time, I wish I was German

Laniakea · 15/06/2020 13:58

I have an opticians appointment for dd2 tomorrow morning and I want to get some decorations for ds' birthday on Wednesday and dd1 has just said she'll tag along & have a look in primark !!! so I guess we're truly terrible people too Sad Grin

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 15/06/2020 14:01

we expect all families in our community to abide by the govt guidelines on social distancing. If any family is observed not obeying these, their child will not be able to return to school.

There was a thread in chat last few weeks where someone was told it was reported their child had been somewhere at weekend - and she had to argue they'd been with her and why were they excluding based on hearsay.

I think schools may develop an adversion to getting involved within a short period of time.

MagdaS · 15/06/2020 14:06

And that reminds me, a parent at my children’s school made up a bullying incident involving my child (told me he’d been slapped by another child) in order to further her campaign to get that child excluded. So this power being used maliciously is entirely possible.

justasking111 · 15/06/2020 14:06

My DIL lives opposite the school so if the head sent out a message about being observed she is stuffed. Her mum after three months alone at home stayed for three nights last week. I pop round and leave things for the children or play with them in garden, how do nosy neighbours know that I am in the garden or rolling on their carpets in gay abandon like a stray dog whilst there.

justasking111 · 15/06/2020 14:12

I am very cynical about schools my DS and three others were deemed adhd/spectrum kids so four out of a class of 12, once the head tried to get them listed as such, more money given to school. Luckily for us the woman they sent in to deem it true was an old sailing buddy. When we saw her at the sailing club and explained what was really going on she threw the whole thing out and the head was bollocked. There was nothing wrong with the children apart from having had two years of part time and locum teachers because of pregnancies/maternity leave, plus a part time teacher who was away with the fairies but had been there so long she was part of the furniture, very religious and the head was scared of her.

Orangeblossom78 · 15/06/2020 14:13

Thankfully school here would not expect any of that. Would have thought it would cause problems for the school - messages from 'concerned' parents and the like.

Nihiloxica · 15/06/2020 14:14

So this power being used maliciously is entirely possible.

Try inevitable.

But beyond that, the principle at stake is mind blowing.

Before this schools struggled to exclude violent children that were a proven risk to their classmates but now they can exclude based on hearsay and on the basis of family obedience to government rules.

So the right to education is gone and the school is now enforcing government diktat.

How is this man a Head teacher?

Drivingdownthe101 · 15/06/2020 14:15

I think our headmistress would give every short thrift to anyone trying to report other kids/parents for not obeying the rules, thankfully!
