@Polkadotdelight - your name made me smile! I’m expecting similar (no news yet) but I’m clinging onto hope for September. When did this become ok? I’m so fed up of it all and hate the way we’ve divided into camps where just wanting normal things is the same as wishing others were dead. I’d be happy to volunteer in the school while my daughter is in if it’d help get the numbers up. I’m far more scared of education becoming optional than Covid.

justasking111 · 14/06/2020 15:12

UK results 31 deaths. We have to move forward now surely?

Orangeblossom78 · 14/06/2020 15:13

I'm not very stat-sy, but read about the market in Beijing, and thought the outcome of having a local lockdown of the area seemed sensible

Dowser · 14/06/2020 15:13

All flights
Would you like to be in my bubble lol?

Hmmm. You see Dowser I imagine you as pretty slim and active.....

I wish.. older age catching up. I’m in a very forgiving sun dress..but even so I can see where the lockdown stone went..

Need to get a handle on it. Ironic , as I think there’s a pair of love handles on it.😉
I like my food
Breakfast, lunch , dinner

In no particular order..actually breakfast is my fave meal of the day..everything in home made gluten free muesli with fresh fruit topping and unsweetened almond milk.

I don’t eat massive portions or do lots of snacking, or drink alcohol , I just need to move around more.

A dementor on another thread stating that the increase from about 1000 to 1500 new cases is probably down to the blm protests.
I couldn't even be bothered explaining that the extra 500 (give or take) positive cases are down to more testing. There were over 20k more tests but only picked up 500 cases......
They cannot seem to understand that proportionately the rate is falling. They do not test the same amount of people every day.
The same as the people reported as having died DID NOT DIE THAT DAY.
How are we twelve weeks in and people still arent getting the most basic shit????!

LivinLaVidaLoki · 14/06/2020 15:15

Oh but we cant....somewhere in the next two weeks to 5 years there will be a huge protest and bbq spike..... 😁 Is that just hospital or all settings? That's so low. We cannot stay like this much longer now.
justasking111 · 14/06/2020 15:15

Hester re Beijing, 45 tested positive, no symptoms so I would not be worrying too much. My bro. lives in China he is not worried believes the government are on top of it now.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 14/06/2020 15:18

Aaaaaaand while I'm in full rant....
"We are a laughing stock all over Europe because we are shit at this"
I have family all over europe and we are indeed a laughing stock. But not for the reasons dementors believe.
We are a laughing stock because we are still locked up seemingly too scared to do anything outside of our own home. We are a laughing stock for disinfecting our shopping. All your favourite hobbies are making us a laughing stock but you are too fucking clueless to see it.

I said exactly this to dp earlier.

Anyone feel like a giant social experiment as to what we will tolerate as a nation sigh...

Because they are too busy shouting that we are thick for not getting that 'PEOPLE WILL DIE', that we are too selfish to wear masks because PEOPLE WILL DIE and that 'Nothing should ever be opened until it is COMPLETELY SAFE'

Oh fuckity fuck, the welsh police are going to be clocking registrations on cars leaving Wales tomorrow to make we do not escape to England for a bit of shopping

Dowser · 14/06/2020 15:28

Just asking
Oh fuckity fuck, the welsh police are going to be clocking registrations on cars leaving Wales tomorrow to make we do not escape to England for a bit of shopping

As my lovely welsh Cousin would say
What is the matter with these people.
I can’t stress it hard enough.
Can’t they do a bit of criminal catching
( to think I was encouraging my son to go for the police, thank god he hasn’t)

Dowser · 14/06/2020 15:30

Sat on my caravan balcony soaking up the sun
The birdsong is amazing.
It’s 5 degrees hotter here than at home and a helluva lot sunnier.
So anyone who wants to take my place on a muggy north east beach
Knock yourself out with it.

justasking111 · 14/06/2020 15:31

Thunder and lightening here in N Wales, no sunbathing today.

Orangeblossom78 · 14/06/2020 15:31

I shared some of the BBC stuff on how to shop now and how to socialise now with family in Holland and they were a bit like "Gosh"
"Wow, very different in the UK isn't it"

Therulerofmyhouse · 14/06/2020 15:31

@Nihiloxica & @TrustTheGeneGenie
I've just dipped into the fed up of lockdown thread and can I just say a massive thanks to you two being the beacons of sanity!

I have hit a massive wall this weekend, my DD's have gone to their dads for the weekend and I've been on my lonesome and am just so disheartened and demoralised by this all now. I am literally just wishing time away but only to face another Groundhog Day. I'm usually someone who can battle forward in the face of adversity but I feel totally defeated and deflated.

Our lives as we knew them have been taken away and the future is so uncertain and I truly believe it didn't have to be this way, I am so resentful and angry that the futures of myself and my kids have been fucked over by the misguided following of the 'very flawed science'.

justasking111 · 14/06/2020 15:32

@Dowser not just locking others out but locking us in. So creepy and worrying.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 14/06/2020 15:35

I think with Beijing it's a good thing it's been caught at an early stage. A local lockdown is probably appropriate to contain it. It is scary but respiratory viruses just do spread and that is what Swedish epidemiologists have been saying in particular - nowhere can eradicate this virus. You're trying to hold back the tide if you think you can. Yes hopefully a vaccine will help but it still won't be 100% effective because that's not how vaccines generally work.

Ideally what will happen there and here when/if we get other pockets of outbreaks, is contacts are traced very effectively, people self-isolate, there is a brief local lockdown if really necessary and that's that. In a perfect world that avoids any further large peaks or anything approaching them.

Not to be too dementory but it does make me worry for the winter simply because anyone and everyone who gets a cold is going to be scared for a while and wondering about self-isolating, trying to force others to do so. If we can get people tested very quickly then it won't be that disruptive but I just worry people are going to be spreading doom and fear all over the shop over normal winter illnesses. If it's bad now, it will be ten times worse then in terms of people trying to control others and scaremonger. We are going to need REALLY good leadership and trust in our government/scientific advisors to stay calm as a society aren't we?

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 14/06/2020 15:37

Sorry, not everyone who gets a cold. Dementors who get colds. I'm quite sure lots won't panic over a sniffle because lots are still sensible.

justasking111 · 14/06/2020 15:43

I suspect with all the masks, gloves, sanitisers etc. going on this winter we will see less colds, flu, norovirus than ever before. Except for children who will not be wearing them and will be spreading it in school that may spike a little.

OH used to laugh at me wearing gloves to handle a supermarket trolley or basket in the winter because of lurgies. He now does not. That did not stop grand kids passing on a lot of snotty bugs Grin

Ibake · 14/06/2020 15:46

@justasking. What would actually happen? Do they actually have any real power? I have this image of them, mouths gaping, going 'but, but' if they stopped someone and they said 'I'm off shopping, what you gonna do about it?'. I'm not inciting you to rebellion (honest!) I just think they've managed to persuade people they've got way more power than they actually have. I work for myself and feel belligerent so would do it just to make a point and because a criminal record would make squat all difference to my life. Indeed I would welcome my day in court and on the 6 pm news to explain why it's so ridiculous given today's figures. Unfortunately I don't live in Wales but maybe I should get myself arrested for breaking in not out?! Wonder how they're managing in Chester given it literally straddles the border. Hmm, maybe I'll take a drive over and find out!

justasking111 · 14/06/2020 15:51

Stopped last weekend, where are you from where are you going. They know from your car registration your home address. If stopped you turn back or face a fine. You would have to have a good excuse to be on the road a letter from an employer is carried by friends to explain your journey especially if you work in England which many do.

Willow2017 · 14/06/2020 15:54

Oh fuckity fuck, the welsh police are going to be clocking registrations on cars leaving Wales tomorrow to make we do not escape to England for a bit of shopping

Apparently our local police were doing that recently at the local beach and sending people outwith 5 freaking miles home!

I had to come off Alex 's thread! I was embarassed to be Scottish. The absolute hysteria! I am thouroughly pissed off with PW promoting such shite and then spouting out that ACH was no epidemiologist! Pot and fecking kettle! There should be a minimum IQ for anyone who wants to be in Gov to stop them spouting shite and pretending its facts. I wanted to sign the petition to open the zoo but am not on Twitter these days, havent been for a couple of years after being abused on it. Need to think of a new name...any ideas I am crap at this sort of thing?
I stopped for a coffee before I tackled the 'crawling around the loo and sink' to finish the painting..."Do you hear the people sing" came on the radio...sums up exactly how I feel just now, fecking angry. Angry at schooling going nowhere, angry at dementors who havent used the brains they were born with, angry at politicians pulling the wool over our eyes, angry at politicians using shit science to try to bamboozle everyone into being too terrified to move, angry at our continued loss of freedom for what? We are the laughing stock of the world, its criminal.
And breath.

Ibake · 14/06/2020 16:00

But it's so wrong! Or are they planning on renaming Wales Gilead? For me this is verging into challengable human rights/infringement of human liberties stuff. I've just told DH, a very laid back man, and I got a raised eyebrow which is quite apoplectic for him!
