That sounds like my sort of twitter feed, GoldenOmber.

Orangeblossom78 · 11/06/2020 18:06

Interesting about the younger people and the 3m rule, none of them seem to bother in the park here with it (sorry sound bit dementory there)

Orangeblossom78 · 11/06/2020 18:06

2m!

Orangeblossom78 · 11/06/2020 18:07

Hmm, so in practice the tracing would probably just pick up the 20% with symptoms then.

Orangeblossom78 · 11/06/2020 18:09

Anyone else feel all this is just to make people feel safe enough to come out because the shops are open etc

permanentlyexhaustedpigeon · 11/06/2020 18:09

Checking in.
I've stopped trying to figure any of the daily briefings out as it was getting bad for my blood pressure. DD is now very unlikely to be back to school until Sept. She is managing the work OK but losing all motivation and doing the bare minimum. Won't exercise. Won't read. Communicates in whinge. My attempts to interest her in Other, Improving Activities (and to get her to wash) have been about as successful as getting an unbiased report from the Daily Fail, usually resulting in tears and preteen stomping about. The one thing (other than home makeovers, weirdly) she is interested in - her drama group - is unlikely to be open until social distancing is relaxed, so that'll be... erm.....?????
I could have a Socially Distant Walk with my parents, except they're both dead. And I can't visit their grave, which sucks.
I think the only person talking to me is the hamster. It's not good when your primary reason for existence is "I'm the only one who cleans out the hamster cage" :( I had got to a point where I was doing OK with my mental health, but it's going steadily backwards.

When the local cafe opens, I'm going straight there for a coffee and a pastry, even if I have to consume it in the pouring rain. And I shall do so - I sincerely hope - Alone!

justasking111 · 11/06/2020 18:12

Drakefords lot said 60% of people still wanted lockdown funny that. Just let the other 40% crack on then I wanted to shout.

Drivingdownthe101 · 11/06/2020 18:12

Whatever happened to taking your own body bag to school?

And ‘they’re sending Reception and Year 1 back first because smaller body bags are cheaper’!

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 11/06/2020 18:12

It all feels so unknown. I’d really like to know what is the crucial information they need to make more informed decisions because everything feels very muddy, then I want to know how they plan to get it. I’d like to see England, Wales and Scotland working together too... I know... I’m a dreamer!

DrearyWallAntler · 11/06/2020 18:15

I'm still around.

Turns out the meeting at work I was worried about was just to run through the office covid risk assessment and to see how I was coping with working at home.

Risk assessment was pleasantly non dementory.

DrearyWallAntler · 11/06/2020 18:16

But I did get an interview for the end of the month in my panic earlier this week.

Mascotte · 11/06/2020 18:16

@Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy I'd like to see that too. The nations should be working together for the greater good.

justasking111 · 11/06/2020 18:17

Out of interest how many anti dementor threads have there been?

ferneytorro · 11/06/2020 18:19

Just booked tickets for Chester Zoo. That and my mum saying to my daughter over Facetime " we can hug now" has made it a very emotional day!

Bollss · 11/06/2020 18:20

Checking in.

80% of people who get it having no symptoms is bloody great. Surely that means loads of us have had it and just didn't know?

I am sick and god damn tired of them presenting everything as a negative. Miserable arseholes that they are.

I want to hear the good things goddammit.

incognitomum · 11/06/2020 18:20

*permanentlyexhaustedpigeon at least you have the anti dementors to talk to. Where are you? Maybe someone on here will be able to go for a walk with you if you'd like to?

NothingIsWrong · 11/06/2020 18:21

I am happy to meet any of you lot for a walk if you are local to me :-)

HesterShaw1 · 11/06/2020 18:21

I have fired off a long email to my MP asking for actual scientific evidence and proper evidence based decision making instead of wishy washy R number bullshit and vague things about "following the science". I pointed out that "science" is not a set of instructions and that people's livelihoods are going up in smoke for the sake of an infection rate last week of 0.5 per 100,000. I've asked him to find out exactly why I'm not allowed to open my business when John Lewis and IKEA are opening.

I live in hope of a sensible reply.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 11/06/2020 18:23

@justasking111 I believe this is thread number 11.

Weird. Just watching an old The Chase and the vixen called a contestant Chester zoo because he's called Chester Hmm spooky.

Checking in

permanentlyexhaustedpigeon · 11/06/2020 18:24

Thanks incognito! SE here. I have managed a few walks but need to drag DD out with me as she is just a fraction too young to be left on her own... and therein lies the rub!

The lovely anti-dementors are preserving my sanity!

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 11/06/2020 18:24

@HesterShaw1 you’re a dreamer too! Seriously I hope you get some answers and support. I’ve asked the Welsh Government about the r number too.

incognitomum · 11/06/2020 18:25

@NothingIsWrong I'm east Durham coast. Loads of lovely places to walk. I'm working as normal but shifts so can fit in walks.

Laniakea · 11/06/2020 18:26

if only 1 in 4 people are symptomatic the infection fatality rate must be ... errrrrr ... much lower than case fatality rates based on people who are actually ill with it! That's good news unless you have a vested interest in maintaining the invisible killer lurking on park benches narrative.
