@Allflightscancelled

2020 FFS!!!!
I was going to say, I know this lockdown has lasted longer than we thought.....

I’m going to take my wee DS abroad for the first time, not sure when.

I’m going to take him to every goddamned transport museum in the country so he can finally tick off all the cars in his car spotting book.

I’m going to read all the books. I can’t wait to get my commute to work back because that’s my reading time.

I’m going to go swimming.

Spudlet · 13/06/2020 21:07

I’m going to go to London and take DS to the Science Museum and let him press all the buttons. All of them. And to the Tate Modern, if they have any good immersive exhibits on. There was meant to be one over spring and we were all set to go. Pah.

And I’m going to go to the shops and try on all the things.

Just dropped FiL back home as he can’t drive far at the moment - DS was so overjoyed to see him and be able to hold his hand and take him to see his sunflower that he’s been growing. It was genuinely touching stuff. I just want to be able to do the same with my family now!

iiamapixie there is a local restaurant on the list, and one in Herefordshire that we went to a couple of years ago on holiday - oh the lemon tart with blackcurrant ice cream👨‍🍳
hester and Whitby but the season clashes with DHs busy time for work so that lottery win is still needed😁

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 13/06/2020 21:16

OK, a bottle of wine down and I'm back on top! The dementors won't win for the simple reason the economy can't afford an ongoing lockdown. We need children in school so parents can work . The schools may not like it but it's true, in the same way as the fundamental purpose of the NHS is to keep workers healthy. In the end most policies have to benefit the economy. One example is the free bus pass for older people, which is the most cost effective intervention in keeping people active and spending locally that we have and it's popular. In Wales our free prescriptions are cheaper than people avoiding or delaying medications and needing costly interventions. Simply based on economic arguments the lockdown can't continue in its current form.

When this is over I'm going to swim in the sea, eat Sunday lunch out, get stupid drunk with my friends, take DD abroad, go to grubby theme parks and chat in queues and hug people again!

@ThatLibraryMiss Runswick Bay is indeed Scarborough council. I think initially they tried to do the "fuck off, loos are shut" but unluckily for them, the people who ignored them and came to Scarborough anyway then took the only alternative toileting option available: shitting in a rock pool. Resulting in a change of policy.

@HesterShaw1

FFS.

Some posters on the R number thread.

FFS lots of posters on local FB pages.

FFS FFS FFS FFS FFS FFS x 100000000

I couldn't help but admire your patience on that thread.

Some of the ignorance - even when it has been explained has shocked me - and I didn't think I overestimated the intelligence of some people to start with - but I obviously did.

HesterShaw1 · 13/06/2020 21:36

Thank you khione! I have rarely been called patient Grin

Dowser · 13/06/2020 21:42

The great wave

Dowser All the best to your friend, when all is calmed (the queuing and directions etc make me feel really anxious, I can cope when it is just a few shops open but more will be awful) I may well pop my head in if I am down.

Can’t wait to go, I feel some new crystals coming on 😁

Dowser · 13/06/2020 21:48

You’ve had sun 😡
We’ve had mist and fog 😡😡😡
An old sea dog on the Isle of Wight told me when the mist comes down that heralds a change in the weather.

Hoping to check in on caravan tomorrow then

BlackberryViolet · 13/06/2020 21:49

Wow! I wander off for a meeting then take a day off screens due to migraine and you’re almost at the end of another thread!

Went to Whitby today. I did say I was never setting foot there again but dh and dds talked me round. It was a really lovely day, fish and chips, ice cream, tea and cake and a long walk on the beach with the dog. Talked to a couple of the takeaway owners who were blazing at the “idiot keyboard warriors” they saw are as trying to ruin their businesses. In the first place he asked dh where we from, “here we go” I thought - we’re not getting served. But he wanted us to know that the loudmouths don’t speak for the majority and we were very welcome and gave us an extra large portion. Loos and car parks open and free and dog ban suspended on the beach until Monday. Plus weather was glorious. I feel a load better. This week has been a bit of trial. I’m now going to check out Dowsers friends shop ad it looks right up my street!

chocolatesweets · 13/06/2020 21:49

What do you think will happen politically after lockdown? I mean the next election. Will people want more social policy funding , school funding , nhs etc. Or will people be focused on building business?

ThatLibraryMiss · 13/06/2020 21:50

@BlackberryViolet, was Fortune's Kippers open?

Dowser · 13/06/2020 21:50

Sirsamuel
We swerved runswick , late April but did do saltburn, staithes...just beautiful, only ones there and whitby. Fabulous

Well someone had to check they were still there didn’t they 😂

Nihiloxica · 13/06/2020 21:55

I want more public funding, I have wanted it for the entire decade of elective austerity, but I have almost entirely lost faith in the Labour party to deliver that.
Dowser · 13/06/2020 21:55

Oh wow blackberry, can’t believe it was so nice further south 😡😡😡

Nic, was my arts and craft teacher. She’s so talented. I learnt to do acrylic pours with her. Fab stuff.
Crystal wrapping and macrame jewellery using crystal beads.
Sadly the wea cancelled her courses after about 3 years

BlackberryViolet · 13/06/2020 21:58

@ThatLibraryMiss, I don’t think so - I didn’t see anyone with with them and didn’t notice when we walked up the street. Not much was open at that end of the town. A couple of cafes doing take out and a some of the jet shops getting ready for opening next week. But otherwise really quiet. Most of the chippies near the bridge were open for takeaway and all of those along the fish quay.

Dowser · 13/06/2020 21:58

Oh blackberry, has whitby finished the construction at the harbour
Looked awful when we were there in April.

When we were in south beach Miami about 2O00 there was loads going on.
So pleased to see they saved the hotels but it’s like my lasting memory of the place

( it makes me shudder, I get quite phobic about it)

Dowser · 13/06/2020 22:00

Nearly time for a new thread

Any ideas for title
Anti dementors playing away from home
Anti dementors..the worms are out of the can and are not going back in

justasking111 · 13/06/2020 22:11

Said to DIL today with Chester and Cheshire Oaks opening on Monday the A55 will be gridlocked from Holyhead to the M62 with the welsh trying to escape to shop.

Then I had a look at Cheshire Live to see what the new rules were. Cheshire Oaks doing a count in and out system, they are going to do a traffic light system red busy, amber, busyish, green quiet which you can check online. The toilets will be open with attendants cleaned every thirty minutes. The kicker is food will only be takeaway and they have taken away all the seating, so you will have to eat standing up.

Chester open but again counted in and out at the Grosvenor centre car park. In the mall keep to the left, then you have to wait outside each shop counted in and out. I can see clustering outside certain stores.

Not for me I think. Too far to drive to sit in a queue for hours. Then have to stand for hours.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 13/06/2020 22:12

Anti dementors say lockdown can just fucking do one now, we're going for chips.

?

Maybe a bit too direct Grin

Littlebelina · 13/06/2020 22:15

Anti dementors hit the shops?

Littlebelina · 13/06/2020 22:16
