There's no point trying to use facts in dementor debates. I've been accused of" science as a smokescreen for libertarianism" for linking to a study, and also told they just don't believe the WHO.

@Mascotte that's the thing I find totally baffling. They worship at the altar of the WHO or Bojo when it's all doom and gloom, but when the narrative changes they must be lying. You either trust their science or you dont. The flip flopping between them depending on their narrative is confusing.

I think in an early thread I admitted that I wanted to just go on to some threads and insult people. I kept the moral high ground but God it was hard.

I've totally had enough and I've had a cry in the bathroom after dinner. Today's announcement about schools has just pushed me over the edge - I don't have young children any more so I'm not directly affected, but I'm so angry on belief of half of my co-workers who are going to be entirely stuffed by this. The company are trying to unfurlough staff and so this means they will have to quit their jobs as there's no way to work in the factory and home educate. Most of them are Polish, came to the UK with almost no English and worked so bloody hard to get to where they are now. It's so unfair.

Thank you @iamapixie. I do dig around on ONS, PHE etc. I did manage to shut a few people up when I told them the infection rate was 0.1% (and presumably less now). Anyone know how to find the community transmission rate? We used to get the breakdown but not anymore and I cannot think of any other reason than it's really low and they don't trust us with that information.

Very depressed waking up to the headlines but agree with whoever said upthread that this will hopefully cause outrage and get parents views heard.

Also wondering about future lockdowns...in my more positive moments I wonder whether the "science" will determine that this was an overeaction particularly as the serious adverse non covid disadvantages become clear and make it less likely.

As for Ferguson his model predicted 60,000 UK deaths from swine flu...so yeah that model is really great.

If we ever lockdown again I swear I don't know what I'll do. I can't cope with this shit all over again!
