You lovely ladies have had me chortling away on this page
There’s a few lockdown pages on fb end the lockdown uk, end the lockdown Ireland, haven’t seen ones for Scotland and wales yet
There’s a woman saying A staff member in sainsburys said not one Sm has gone down with it, all through lockdown
That cheers me up for my carer son, who must go into a dozen houses a day

Nihiloxica · 07/06/2020 18:08

Actively encourage all dementors to keep their children off school for the next 4 years at least.

It won't work.

Dementors want ALL children to be deprived of school.

If they were up for letting the rest of us live our lives, they wouldn't be Dementors.

Ibake · 07/06/2020 18:08

I have a friend in the NHS. She's my neighbour, an A&E doc and completely fab. Very pragmatic and full of dark humour as lots of medics are. Really, really quiet now at work, beyond furious re the new mask rule at all times and had an illicit overnight stay with friends in a city 2 hours away this weekend. I sulked so she's promised to take me with her next time - even though I'm 20 years older than her and her friends!

NowImLivinInExeter · 07/06/2020 18:09

I'll tell you the thing that irritates me about the guardian is they doom and gloom about the economic fall out as well as deaths etc from covid. As in - millions will be in poverty if lockdown continues but also don't ease lcokdown or millions more will die.

Make your fucking minds up fgs.

Jourdain11 · 07/06/2020 18:11

Drivingdown I love the image of you both engaged in some covert child-smuggling!

I am not sure what I think about the BLM protests. I'm absolutely up for people's right to protest, and there is undoubtedly a lot of injustice in the world. But it does seem mental to have these protests and simultaneously be saying that people cannot visit their families in their homes, etc.

It also led to an ... interesting conversation with DD1 today, who asked DH "is mum mixed-race?" (For the record, my father was Algerian, but I don't look "mixed" at all because I more take after my mother in colouring.) DH was like, "You know what, I dont really know, to be honest." DD was horrified! He then said it's what people feel that's important. She then replied by saying that she could feel like a Red Indian but it wouldn't make her one. Sigh... and we didn't even get onto the subject of "Red Indians" for Native Americans being incorrect. It's quite interesting though - I'm never sure if the Algerian half counts as "mixed race" and I guess I don't think of myself as "mixed" because nobody else does. Which doesn't seen quite right, when you put it like that. Interestingly, DS has really typical North African curly hair!

Just me or have the Guardian totally turned to the Dark Side? They're, like, dementors in chief!!
Dowser · 07/06/2020 18:14

Haha

A limerick:

There once was a two metre rule,
Dreamt up out the blue by some fool,
‘Stay right in your place
With your mask on your face’
Makes authoritarians drool.

Resist this insanity and state control. More dangerous than any virus...

Dowser · 07/06/2020 18:17

Definitely no end the lockdown on fb for Scotland or wales
Ladies who is going to volunteer
Time to get your ducks in a row

DominaShantotto · 07/06/2020 18:18

I’m losing the will to live with dd1 charting absolute drivel on zoom to her mate. Complete brain rotting shite and cos it’s on my laptop I can’t avoid it!

Shodan · 07/06/2020 18:18

@Ibake

I should've clarified - I only distrust dementors who claim to have friends in the NHS who've definitely confirmed that a second wave is inevitable, and it's going to be far worse than this one (because Spanish Flu) and we're all going to die because it's a PANDEMIC and and and...

I know there are normal people in the NHS (and by normal I mean just like us Grin)

NowImLivinInExeter · 07/06/2020 18:20

Also can't bear dementors on twitter who are all "my cousin's neighbour's hairdresser's dog's auntie knows someone high up in the government who has been told to prepare for mass deaths in August"

Funny how suddenly everyone in their uncle knows someone "high up" in government, the NHS or PHE Hmm

Drivingdownthe101 · 07/06/2020 18:22

NowImLivinInExeter and also how they’re all so keen to spill their secrets! My best friend from uni reports directly into Priti Patel... she doesn’t tell me anything interesting!

amicissimma · 07/06/2020 18:23

I wonder what Scots who want to shut out the germ-ridden English would think about London. Approaching twice the population of Scotland and also 0 deaths. (Although chances always are that figures for any particular day will change in a day or two).

I know various people who work in the NHS. No one has mentioned a second Covid wave, but my GP seems to be worried about measles.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 07/06/2020 18:27

Just seen another headline about schools. "Schools may not open until 2021 as r rate rises"

All complete speculation, no sources, no news.
Wonder if anyone has started a petition yet to make the press more accountable for their handling of the covid "crisis". Most of it borders on irresponsible lies trotted out for clickbait.

HairyFloppins · 07/06/2020 18:29

Just seen a post on a Facebook holiday group asking that can Spain let in the Scottish now as they have been so much better at managing the virus and they are more respectful, that went down well Grin

Also read today we should be more like the Japanese and not fat window lickers. What a delight to read from the Covid board.

Also read someones contacts in the NHS are preparing for the 2nd wave in October. That long? Thought it was imminent.

Ibake · 07/06/2020 18:31

I know Shodan am also highly suspicious of dementory 'I have a friend' posters. Just thought you lot would appreciate hearing about someone who has presumably seen some terrible things over the last few months (I tend not to ask as my role is to provide alcohol and frivolity in our relationship) but STILL has a huge sense of perspective despite her working conditions and all she has had to deal with - unlike most of the nutters on MN who have all gone slightly mad just lately and will need to give their hands a massive wobble in a few months time when they look back at their behaviour.

Ibake · 07/06/2020 18:32

Heads!

SudokuBook · 07/06/2020 18:37

Someone on my FB just posted this PA shite

I would just like to thank everyone that protested !

Thank you for ignoring the sacrifices that Nurses, Doctors, care workers, delivery drivers, supermarket workers, keyworkers and everyone that has kept us alive and going through this crisis.

Thank you for dishonouring those 40,000 that have died in the U.K. and the family’s that mourn them.

Thank you for disrespecting the 10’s of millions who have been at home; alone, lonely and away from their mums, dads, grandparents, children and friends.

Thank you for your sheer and absolute arrogance that makes your protest spread this virus to so many more people who will die.

Thank you 🙏

Jourdain11 · 07/06/2020 18:39

God, why do all the dementors have such a poor grasp of grammar? Drives me nuts!

Jourdain11 · 07/06/2020 18:40

And punctuation and capitalization...

trappedsincesundaymorn · 07/06/2020 18:41

Well they can fuck right off with that. Mum marched in the 60's with the womens movement...she'd be first in the queue on the bus to a protest for a cause she believed in. She also went with my sister (at the age of 71) to a Pride march...mum loved it.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 07/06/2020 18:42

Shall I start a new thread? How about anti dementors flock together?

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 07/06/2020 18:43

MaudesMum · 07/06/2020 18:44

There is still a lot of fear around though - I've just been on a local Facebook thread where someone has been complaining about lack of distancing in the supermarket queue. Someone on the thread hadn't been to a supermarket since lockdown, so was quite clearly very scared, despite the fact that we're in one of the areas of the country with the lowest infection rate...
