It feels mean to say it, but it's making me question the intelligence of a lot of my friends.

Mascotte · 07/06/2020 17:04

@LivinLaVidaLoki me too.

Mascotte · 07/06/2020 17:04

And is this why o couldn't add loo roll to my Asda click
N collect?

Dowser · 07/06/2020 17:09

Livinlavida
I ve had loads of Fb arguments with covidiots, it’s a wonder I haven’t been banned
It usually ends up with The thread deleted
I told one guy to mind his own business yesterday curtain twitching over young people in a park having a not so sly drink and a game of footy

It got deleted.
I don’t care, I’m fully pumped now.
Got my Kevlar ppe on lol

LivinLaVidaLoki · 07/06/2020 17:10

Just seen our local rag telling us we've had the highest increase of positive tests in the area in the last 24 hours.......brace yourself.....its 3.
Also stated "this includes patients who have since recovered or died" well, I don't think we need to worry about them infecting everyone then do we?
How the fuck does that even work??!!!

bakingcupcakes · 07/06/2020 17:11

I'm doubtful there'll be much of a second wave. If there was going to be one I think it would've started by now (both here and in other countries). I think if there is one then the figures will be fudged to make it look less of one because the economy needs to be restarted and other health conditions treated.

Interesting comparison of Scotland to Sweden. Not sure who posted it now.

I haven't been on any other threads except this one today and I feel much happier as a result!

Willow2017 · 07/06/2020 17:12

I had a look on that loo roll thread. Buying a pack of 9 instead of 4 is hardly worth starting a thread over! Hardly panic buying! I only ever buy the packs of 18 cos we go through loads here and i ave always liked to have one back up pack but its hardly newsworthy! 😄😄

I can see the point come brexit as 70% of out paper to make anything in uk comes from abroad but just now there are no stock issues at work. Shelves are full!

Also had a look on the lockdown thread, wrote a post then backed away. I really have lost my fight for questioning the crazies now. Its too draining and repetative, the same hysteria and nonsense over and over again

NowImLivinInExeter · 07/06/2020 17:13

Just spoken to my sister who is completely doom and gloom. I pointed out transmission rates in our area are very low at the moment. She said "yes, well, that's if you believe what they say".

As incompetent and awful Bojo and his cronies are, they are not bumping people off and lying about it.

SomewhereEast · 07/06/2020 17:17

That anecdote about Boris suddenly realising that shutting down tourism & hospitality would result in millions of job losses was so fucking depressing & believable. At least literally everyone I know agrees that the Government are terrible

BogRollBOGOF · 07/06/2020 17:23

Plenty of bogroll here 4 months after going to Costco pre-panic buying. Admittedly I need to get some more out of the loft and top up the frequent use stores Grin

My highlight comparison for the day has been comparing our approach with Mongolia which is basically putting a population the size of Manchester into the middle of the Gobi Desert, with the West Coast Mainline running through on Sunday service (well not even that!) and serving it with Teeside Airport and wondering how they managed to isolate the virus so well.
Not to mention that it's a desert and the virus likes cool, damp conditions, not a 30oC heat range in one day to weaken it.

Amazing country, one of my favourite places in the world but even the hostel owner was surprised that she had a repeat customer when most pass through on a once off on the Trans-Siberian, and I loved it so much that I bought DH over two years later.

In other news contact with DS1's best friend's mum has been established and with his sibling going back to school tomorrow, I might be able to get him round here at some point... TBH even if it rains, I'd be comfortable ventilating the conservatory for low risk shelter.

According to our district council there's been a surge in cases.....brace yourself mind...........5 new cases (no deaths) in 3 days. Bringing to total over the entire district since lock down began of 65. Yep 65 out of a population of around 200,000....the bodies are piling up as we speak..all 23 of them.
Shodan · 07/06/2020 17:28

I just popped onto the thread about schools returning before September. One poster seems to think that schools won't return fully before next year and it'll pave the way to us all home-schooling our children...

Not sure what the teachers would feel about that.

BogRollBOGOF · 07/06/2020 17:38

"Coronavirus deaths jump by 77 as no new hospital deaths in Scotland or Northern Ireland" Jumps? Jumps? Compared to April that's a jump like me doing sports day and landing on my face in the poo infested sandpit. More shuffling than jumping really (like doing the 1500m and coming in 800m behind the penultimate finisher)

On that note I should have done a half marathon today. Rescheduled for November so I hope it can happen... the poor organiser is also behind a 10mile race that managed to defy last autumn's floods on contingency route 6. Not an easy year for him and his team!

Willow2017 · 07/06/2020 17:44

Shodan
I actually saw a post from a teacher who agreed wholeheartedly with parents doing home ed with a bit of input online from teachers forever. Basically its time parents took responsibility for thier kids education themselves!
Wonder if they still would feel that way when they were sacked as no longer needed? Some absolutely appaling posts on here from teachers who obviously hate parents and kids!

LivinLaVidaLoki · 07/06/2020 17:45

The ridiculous thing is, the 3 is actually lower than the previous day.
But still, I suppose suggesting this town will be like the walking dead by August bank holiday sells more papers....

PickACoolUserName · 07/06/2020 17:45

I love these threads, I've been reading them since the start and it's so refreshing.

There was one new confirmed case of CV in my area today. Just one.

Meanwhile, my local newspaper is running the headline: Coronavirus cases could surge in X county.

Because that's where we are now in this doomer world. Not reporting the facts anymore, just looking for the misery that could happen.

Waiting for them to turn to other areas to report on, such as "Zombie plague could take hold in Britain," or how about "Sun will one day become so big it swallows the earth whole."

Today a friend dropped off masks she made for my kids. I didn't ask for them, she decided I obviously needed them. She's a good friend so I didn't tell her to get a fucking grip as she waved at me through the window.

BamboozledandBefuddled · 07/06/2020 17:48

Bah! Our local rag is yelling from the rooftops that we've had no new cases for a week and no deaths for 10 days. So why are restaurants and pubs still closed? Took the car for a service yesterday and agreed with the receptionist that it's a clear sign there's a lack of women in government, when car dealerships get to reopen before hairdressers. Also came home and went back for the car in taxis with neither drivers or me wearing a mask and I'm still alive. I want out!!!

I really think this adds to my argument that some people are claiming to be teachers. You do have to be relatively intelligent to be a teacher
Teateaandmoretea · 07/06/2020 17:49

it'll pave the way to us all home-schooling our children...

If more than 50% of people decide to permanently homeschool then everyone else’s dc will be able to return full time in September. Woohoo Grin

Just been round to see my brother and had a chat with him, it was so refreshing to talk to someone who totally agrees with me re this ridiculous limbo we’re in.

Ibake · 07/06/2020 17:49

I'm feeling so rebellious today, in fact have been for days now. But I'm rebel without a venue! I want to scream and shout and tell lots of people to fuck off because they're now being ridiculous. If BML demos can be going on the length and breadth of the country (actually those overhead shots of the embassy are pretty shocking re SD and risk) then I want to go and protest somewhere about the fucking insane decisions currently being taken. Anyone up for an Anti-Dementor MN rally? Where? Barnard Castle? Grin

Willow2017 · 07/06/2020 17:51

Give me a zombie apocalypse any day. At least i would have a legitimate reason to kill people!

Drivingdownthe101 · 07/06/2020 17:51

Saw my mum in the garden earlier. She lives alone and has been so bored and lonely. She usually has my DC on a Saturday for a few hours... she said maybe we could sneak them in and out under the cover of darkness next Saturday. I said I was more than happy to drop them off at 4.30am ish before it gets light and pick them back up at 9.30pm when it’s dark again!

Shodan · 07/06/2020 17:59

I really think this adds to my argument that some people are claiming to be teachers

I completely agree with you. I'm also highly suspicious of many of the ones with 'friends in the NHS'.

Shodan · 07/06/2020 18:02

If more than 50% of people decide to permanently homeschool then everyone else’s dc will be able to return full time in September.

That would actually be rather good for ds2....

Ok new plan.

Actively encourage all dementors to keep their children off school for the next 4 years at least. Imply that Certain Death will befall everyone if they don't. Or Zombies.

I see no downsides to this plan.
