And Saint Nicola says you have to wear masks in the supermarket
Say what?
Shit i missed that!
Dammit do i need to take up my works offer of free masks just to pop to the coop for milk now?
I just cant listen to that woman twitter on in her fake "i care so much about you all" voice while constantly waving her hands about like a puppet muppet.
So i just dont do it now.

Dowser · 07/06/2020 16:16

When we are given the green light to travel ( if we haven’t just buggered off anyway) I’ll be going to the places who will readily welcome us.
If that’s Tenerife, then So be it
I think all our old haunts will welcome us with open arms.
I did want to go to see my cousin in wales but the covidiot she’s married to that I spoke to yesterday, who wanted to see lockdown last another 6 months..we’ll draw your own conclusions
Doesn’t make for a happy sounding holiday does it.

Mascotte · 07/06/2020 16:16

Christ, I really hope not compulsory in supermarkets

Dowser · 07/06/2020 16:18

New thread title
Anti dementors are ready to be released. This isn’t a Harry Potter thread.

Or something along those lines

Bellesavage · 07/06/2020 16:18

Oh god has twinkl already gone?? I relied on that for colouring sheets to give me 20 secs peace

Dowser · 07/06/2020 16:18

Make one from a fish net stocking..( a mask)

trappedsincesundaymorn · 07/06/2020 16:19

I think it will. One zoo has said that they might ask if they can open the gift shop seeing as how non-essential shops are allowed open soon? If the answer is yes, then it was suggested by other zoo keepers (they're a sarky bunch), that they put a socially distanced route all around the zoo leading to the legally open gift shop and charge an "exit" fee to everyone leaving. The same way Chessington are opening a handful of rides ( theme parks can open in July), which they will allow no more than 10 people at a time on....just a coincidence that visitors will be able to wander around the zoo section (the animals are dotted around certain parts of the park), at the same time as the keepers will be "practising" their educational talks.

Dowser · 07/06/2020 16:20

My dh was trying to engage me in which masks should he order for flights, mandatory trips to the supermarket etc

I just said don’t, I’m not in the mood, I find it too depressing
They are wearing them in the town shops, so what’s the point

TheGreatWave · 07/06/2020 16:22

So we have till June 14 to blitz Twinkl.

Just seen that dreadful picture on FB.

Dowser · 07/06/2020 16:22

Lol Trapped

Has Lilac Tree popped in again
Was thinking about her this morning..I feel she’s ok, just ducked under the radar for a while
( I hope)
Things are loosening up a lot.
The people are voting with their feet.

SockYarn · 07/06/2020 16:25

Not compulsory to wear masks in supermarkets. "Strongly recommended".

Judging by my visit to Morrison's this morning, about 10% of people have listened to her. And about half of those are unaware that you really should cover your mouth and your nose, not just your mouth. Hmm I am not one of the 10%.

Drivingdownthe101 · 07/06/2020 16:28

Just doing a mass Twinkl printing session!

Littlebelina · 07/06/2020 16:28

Here you go negative numbers reported today not zombies

Patronii in person, anti Dementors visit the zoo
Willow2017 · 07/06/2020 16:30

Oh thanks SockYarn. Having worked in a supermarket last 6 months with no ppe until the few weeks its a bit like shutting the stable door now...
Its just 'being seen to be doing sonething' propaganda.

Dowser · 07/06/2020 16:32

This popped up on fb
I’m not good at reading scientific stuff, but it’s looking promising.

I must admit I’ve struggled a bit with asymptomatic people spreading the virus. If they had it that strongly they’d be quite ill themselves , surely

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32405162/?fbclid=IwAR0ZoTcLVYbIM_m2Rw8k-jnptW1-YR5mymAos8fZZAnGN2KlUi4o4b0BVaY

Please, make of it what you will. If it helps anyone. Good

Dowser · 07/06/2020 16:33

You also need to cover your eyes sock yarn as it can get in there too, might as well go the whole hog and cover ears as well

trappedsincesundaymorn · 07/06/2020 16:33

Been catching up on the thread...I know it's a bit late to the party but fuck me that painting. I hope the "artist" is prepared for some seriously angry poltergeist haunting, because chances are, mum's bored right now and she could throw a good tantrum when she was alive if she thought someone was taking the piss, so I'd hate to see what she's capable of now. Grin

Sallycinnamum · 07/06/2020 16:41

I actually am getting to the point where I'm going to have to come off MN for a while.

The current second fucking wave toilet roll panic buying has tipped me over the edge.

Rubbing their hands together in glee at another lockdown, a second wave, schools closed at etc. I just don't understand it.

rosettesforjill · 07/06/2020 16:44

@Sallycinnamum I saw that thread 🤦🏼‍♀️

Do these people not have toilet roll left over from the first round of panic buying?

Dowser · 07/06/2020 16:44

Lord sumption take on lockdown
I wish the interviewer had just shut up and let him get in with it
Very interesting

It gives their lives a purpose. Adds interest.
HesterShaw1 · 07/06/2020 16:46

There were so very many things I wanted to ask on that thread Sally.

Was her DP planning on planting the toilet rolls, to grow a little crop of toilet roll bushes? Was he planning on eating them? Do toilet rolls have antiviral properties and that's the reason for the rush? Can you hang one over your front door as a deterrent to the virus crossing the threshold? So many questions....

Sallycinnamum · 07/06/2020 16:52

It's the old chestnut "my friends work in the NHS and they've been told a second wave is a certainty" that utterly fucks me off.

There's no certainty, nobody knows but they trot out this tired old bullshit on every bloody thread.

This country, which I love I hasten to add, will not cope with another fucking lockdown. I can only guess that those gleefully champing at the bit for a second wave are the sort of people who enjoy other people's misery.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 07/06/2020 16:55

@HesterShaw1

Apparently our total idiot of a PM exclaimed "Christ!" on Tuesday when it was put to him that shutting down the UK tourism season might result in 3 million unemployed. Like it had only just occurred to him.

Christ indeed.

Maybe they should present it to him as a pop up book.

For balance - just spoken to a friend who is a hospital nurse and she was saying how quiet it is.
