Thanks for directing me here @Dowser I've seen this thread title a few times and thought it was a Harry Potter thing Blush

I'm so done with lockdown... off to read this thread from the start now.

TeacupDrama · 07/06/2020 15:48

@heroku yes they keep mentioning Sweden as though it was bad I mentioned this on another Thread
this is me quoting myself to save typing twice

" Scotland Sweden comparisons are quite useful as they both have about half of the population concentrated around a few big cities towns and lots of very rural sparsely populated areas

Sweden has a population of 10 million and has 44, 730 cases and 4659 deaths on 7th June

Scotland has population of just over 5 million and has 15,000 cases ( lots less testing) and 2415 deaths on same date
Scotland's figues should be roughly half swedish figures, which they are overall the death per million is almost identical and the care home deaths similar percentage wise, it is difficult to see exactly how much lockdown has benefited Scotland"

in fact all it has done is badly affected businesses workers and young people without any less deaths to the elderly or vulnerable

@NowImLivinInExeter

I'm also a guardian reading leftie for the most part but have become increasingly annoyed with it over the last couple of months for its relentless negativity.

I fcking hate Boris Johnson and his gang of pricks, I think the government has done a dreadful job, but I am also not pro lockdown.

This is basically my stance on it all too!
Bellesavage · 07/06/2020 15:49

I'm worried that at some point a lot of these companies that have been 'generous' so far will take their opportunity to strike. If zoom decide that they want a subscription, or the teaching websites like twinkl end their free access, the virtual tours dry up etc.

Also, anyone been counting rainbows? Ours have virtually gone in our neighbourhood. Everyone is hiding behind closed curtains. Walked past a friends with DC last week and the mum literally pulls her child down from a small window so we couldn't spray covid on them from 5m away and through glass. Community spirit that was strong at first is dwindling.

Dowser · 07/06/2020 15:49

Welcome too tired
I got the feeling you were one of us
You’ll be alright here 👍

Dowser · 07/06/2020 15:50

When you have chance browse through the zombie beach one also

Drivingdownthe101 · 07/06/2020 15:51

I took our rainbows down, partly because they faded, partly because I wanted to clean my windows and partly because I felt like they went from being ‘a nice thing for the children to count’ to being ‘for the NHS’. Children have had enough taken from them and it pissed me off, irrationally Grin

trappedsincesundaymorn · 07/06/2020 15:51

Afternoon all. So the word in the zoo world is, there is a meeting next week between the zoo's and the govt. The zoo's first question is going to be (allegedly), ....please explain why 15000+ can gather for a whole day, socially distancing and wearing masks, with the consent of the authorities yet those same authorities will not consent to less than 500+ socially distancing, wearing face masks with the additional hand washing facilities available?

Wonder what the answer will be?

Bellesavage · 07/06/2020 15:53

Agree driving, but in our neighbourhood it's like its a visual signal saying no one gives a crap about kids having ANYTHING that might make them have fun, like it was fun for everyone at first but now we must get on and be miserable and we don't want rainbows luring covid ridden children near our driveway

Mascotte · 07/06/2020 15:54

No new deaths in Scotland... how are the Scottish dementors going to spin this one??
Never fear our glorious leader will find a way. We will still be wrapped in bubble wrap at xmas next year if that lot have thier way. Of course there will be no economy, no jobs, no tourism and everywhere shut down but it will be ok because that sneaky ol' covid might jump out of its hidey hole in Glen Coe and kill us all.

Zero deaths are obvioysly "wrong" and so are the tests. They cant seem to grasp that this wont last forever, that they will have to give up thier high horses and policing everyone else at some point. What the feck will give them that sense of power once this is gone?

Am so thoroughly sick of it all now. Most of Mn is a no-go area for me now. All the "going to the beach will make a supernova of a 2nd wave by next week and we will have bodies piling up in the streets" bollocks just makes me want to slap someone. All these self proclaimed 'experts' calling everyone else idiots, jeeze louise give it a rest before you bust something!

Mascotte · 07/06/2020 15:54

Oops, messed that up, but precisely my stance too.

SudokuBook · 07/06/2020 15:56

The STV fb page is full of miserable comments about the zero deaths in Scotland. I get that weekend figures can be lower but we haven’t had a day of zero for a long time. Can they not even take the positive news that for now less people are losing loved ones without having to be miserable and dement about it?

Willow2017 · 07/06/2020 15:59

Trapped
Oh that is a start. I hope it goes the right way. There is just no logic in what is allowed and whats not.
Will keep fingers crossed for them and that Scotland follows suit.

Oh they already are on FB. 'Close the fucking borders, NOW to keep us safe'.

Dowser · 07/06/2020 16:04

Interesting Belle, I’ve noticed that there seems a lot less rainbows in windows too
Maybe, just maybe people are getting on with their lives.
My friend who has been furloughed as her mum is shielding admitted she’s seen her DP every week since lockdown.
( she and mum don’t live together) DP rarely goes out on account of his job too.

She was almost apologising till I said, you do right. Everyone of them lives alone, just what are people meant to do
Her dp works in a profession where there is a high suicide rate.
Won’t say which as it’s very outing.
So yes, you’ve got to do what you need to do
I’ve never been very religious, as I’ve said up thread, but one saying that always comes into my mind is this one
It makes me sound like a religious nut which I’m not but I honest Can’t think of anything better

Let he without sin cast the first stone.
I love it.
I honestly can not think of one good reason for anyone to not meet up with a loved one, especially after all this time and certainly I could never think of any good reason for a child to stay away from an elderly, vulnerable or sick parent.
Just crackers.
Me and my mum would never have done it..and neither have me and my dd or ds..( oops) and grandkids ( oops, oops, oops)
I’ve never stopped driving to places. We’ve had some lovely days out on the quiet roads, quiet country parks and beaches
I even contemplated taking my passport out with me in the early days, as I’m not quite 70 and didn’t want to get caught up in the dragnet of 70 and older need to isolate.
Bugger that one for a kick off.

Willow2017 · 07/06/2020 16:05

Oh they already are on FB. 'Close the fucking borders, NOW to keep us safe'.
There are 100 roads over the border htf do they propose to close every road?
People cross back and forward for work every day too, what about trains, food and other deliveries? Farmers going back and forwards with crops? Its ridiculous.

People are as thick as mince!

KaronAVyrus · 07/06/2020 16:05

I’ve also read on the Herald comments section that we “should close the borders”. Who are they going to boss around when this is all over?

HesterShaw1 · 07/06/2020 16:07

Oh they already are on FB. 'Close the fucking borders, NOW to keep us safe'.

Have they remotely thought about how to achieve this closing of a border within one sovereign nation, the practicalities, the supply issues, the business implications? I have even read the same on the FB page of my local rag with reference to Cornwall. Have the army stationed at the Tamar and stop those evil germ infested infection laden tourists heading down to Cornwall - it will keep us SAFE!

Morons.

Mascotte · 07/06/2020 16:07

No new deaths in Scotland... how are the Scottish dementors going to spin this one??

Well it's a weekend, and reports are lower on a weekend. (this bit is actually true, but the 7 day rolling figures also show a sharp decrease).

We're due a second spike because of all the covidiots going to Loch Lomond / The Trossachs / The Borders. The main stream london media is lying about the deaths, it's so much worse than they say it is. Schools aren't going back so they OBVIOUSLY know it's far too dangerous out there. And Saint Nicola says you have to wear masks in the supermarket, Devil Boris didn't say that, she cares about us SOOOO much and the virus isn't going anywhere. Hmm

Willow2017 · 07/06/2020 16:09

Mascotte
😄😄😄 me too.

I noticed in my emails this morning that twinkl are ending their free access now - there's this assumption that "schools are back - work is done" which I suspected would kick in and has done. Despite the fact that it's 3 fucking year groups, and loads of areas have blocked it happening. Again, y2, 3, 4 and 5... don't matter.

I took the rainbows down a couple of weeks ago. I did so in protest at what had started out as something kids could do for other kids to look out for on a walk - had become taken over by the NHS corona cult and big companies printing out rainbow banners to proclaim their support for them. Our children weren't even allowed an innocent bit of artwork in their windows without that being stolen by the corona cult hive mind. That was why I took ours down.

SudokuBook · 07/06/2020 16:14

Closing the borders 😂 ffs do people not understand that even if La Sturge wanted to do this she can’t?
