It’s a friend of a friend so I don’t know her very well. From the sounds of it, the cleaners are keeping the bedding for the time being, rather than forever. Presumably she’s torn between outrage and not wanting to set off all the dementors.

amicissimma · 06/06/2020 18:44

Well thank you very much, ISaySteadyOn. You 'inspired' me to download Spooky Castle. I played one tree (did I really used to be able to use the arrow keys so dexterously?) then it crashed my computer.

I had scanned the file with anti-virus (ha!) but if I've got something horrible on my computer I shall remember who put me in mind to download it ...

It's a shame. It was such a good game. And I think it might have lasted me to the end of lockdown, even if it's years away.

BogRollBOGOF · 06/06/2020 18:45

I'm hoping the masks is going to be a swap on reducing social distancing and improving capacities on transport, pubs and schools.

The line early on was that masks weren't necessary was because the 2m effectively made them redundant.

The government was hoping to open up y2, 3, 4 & 5 before the end of term and that can't be done while current guidence is in place as schools are already full to accommodate halved classes.

My suspicion is that they're giving it a couple of weeks for a bit of FOMO and to prove that we're not going to plough into the 7th spike or which ever one we're now due and with short notice plough into wider openings and a new wave of dementor agitatation.

Spoken to my hairdresser
She thinks she might be starting again beginning of July
It’s a long way off.

Hmm

This has inspired me to start a new career as a classy burglar.

I'll leave a calling card that says

"I'm only keeping your stuff for the time being."

Then nobody can call the police becausr it's not stealing if you plan to give it back at some point. Grin

Checking in. My husband who has been shielding for months went for a socially distanced walk with me today. We stopped to eat a sausage roll and bacon butty outside one of our favourite cafes :)

NUFC69 · 06/06/2020 18:57

Dowser, I made an appointment with my hairdresser this morning, I decided to wait until August as I actually like my hair longer. She could have seen me anytime in July. I saw my dentist yesterday through the door when he handed me a prescription for antibiotics as I have an abscess. 111 were extremely helpful.

DS and family called in this afternoon: their middle son is going back to school on Monday - he definitely needs some more structure and to be away from his sister.

It's been one small blessing of lockdown for me, I can pretend I'm not getting my haircut due to lockdown as opposed to my usual reason of can't be arsed/hate going. See also:dentist

I’ve cut my own. It looks okay tbh

Allflightscancelled · 06/06/2020 19:00

I've heard hAirdressers are opening on 4 July as well. I couldn't wait any longer and got my 16 year old to it it last week. She's never cut hair before and I had to promise not to shout if I didn't like it.

I've got to say, although it's much shorter than I wanted (my fault for having curly hair apparently ) its uncharacteristically neat and easy to manage Confused

BogRollBOGOF · 06/06/2020 19:01

DS1 is now bored enough to admit that he would be alright with going back to school now! Given that he's happy to be anti-socially melded to the sofa watching the Smithsonian Channel and playing Minecraft for forever, this is a significant revelation.

Drivingdownthe101 · 06/06/2020 19:02

Littlebelina I haven’t had my hair cut for a year. First time I’ve ever been grateful to be a hair slob!

rosettesforjill · 06/06/2020 19:05

Hello everyone. It was my birthday today and I had DSis and DBIL round - first time I've seen them since March and it was so lovely. It was, of course, conducted all entirely within the letter and spirit of the law and respecting all social distancing guidelines, even after a couple of glasses of champagne. Hmm

Oh that's lovely, user. Smile

Glad to hear he got out and you are pork products outdoors unmolested by feathery thieves. Grin

countrygirl99 · 06/06/2020 19:14

Well we had a murderous 2 hour drive to Nottingham today. All I have to say is the "all back to normal" crew clearly don't live there. Driving through the city just before lunchtime it was like an early Sunday morning before the shops open, say 9/9.30ish.

RubberDinghyRapids · 06/06/2020 19:15

Happy Birthday @rosettesforjill 🥳

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 06/06/2020 19:15

I had a fringe cut in just before lockdown. That was poor timing! Have trimmed it a few times on my own, not brilliant but no disasters yet. Haven't attempted to cut the rest though.

CruCru · 06/06/2020 19:40

Happy birthday rosettesforjill!

user1480092643 · 06/06/2020 19:51

Thanks @Nihiloxica. I forgotten how nice it is to be out and about on a Saturday doing normal stuff

rosettesforjill · 06/06/2020 20:02

Thanks all Smile

I have a high maintenance hair style - it's my one indulgence on my appearance that I get the roots bleached every month religiously and coloured streaks through the front of it - it's also one of those very very swept over to one side short styles clippered in at the back (any shorter and we'd be into 1980s student activist territory). You can imagine how shit it looks now with white blonde ends, manky black roots about an inch and a half long (it grows bloody fast which is why I go so often) and faded as fuck streaks through it.

BarkandCheese · 06/06/2020 20:22

DD’s musical theatre group were rehearsing for Joseph when lockdown started, they were meant to be doing the actual performance over the Easter holidays. They’ve carried on rehearsals via zoom bless them, they’re going to be the best rehearsed cast ever. The leader of the group is also DDs singing teacher and during DDs (FaceTime) lesson this evening she told me she’s found an open air amphitheater and they’re making plans to finally put the show on there in August. I’m so pleased for DD, she loves performing and finding out they’ll actually be doing the show has given her a real boost.

Grin mine is long, straight and my natural colour (dark brown). I have it trimmed annually. My mum usually has hers cut every 4 weeks and highlighted every 8, she’s been looking at buying wigs to cover it Grin

I really feel depressed tonight.

Just feels like this will never end.

And even when it does "end" dementors will never be happy.

I know relationships I've had with friends for over a decade is gone, because I cannot take them seriously anymore with their paranoid, anxious, dementor ways.

I'm so sad.

Drivingdownthe101 · 06/06/2020 20:34

I feel the same tonight SpnBaby1967. I think in the week I’m so busy trying to keep all the plates spinning that it doesn’t feel so bad. Weekends just highlight how shit it all is.
On the plus side 2 of my more dementor-y friends seem to be turning to the dark side... questioning why if 1 in 1000 people are infected we’re still fucking stuck where we are.
