Can share why if you want or just share the song name. Or add a link so we can listen.

Attended an online funeral today and they played Highland Cathedral and realised it is always one that gets me. I was at this Proms in the Park that's seen on the video and I cried then and cried today when I heard it.

‘Bring him home’ from Les Miserables

Honeybee85 · 23/05/2020 12:04

Dreaming with a Broken heart ~John Mayer

If I can listen to this song without crying then it means I'm completely over my ex

Yodabrussel · 23/05/2020 12:04

Loads of these are wonderful but can I also add :

Secret Garden - Bruce Springsteen
I can't make you love me - Bonnie Raitt

If either of these come on, they just make me stop whatever I'm doing

PuppyMonkey · 23/05/2020 12:05

Stardust by Nat King Cole. It’s so exquisitely perfect, it’s almost like it’s from another universe.

Friedbluetomatoes · 23/05/2020 12:05

Slipping through my fingers - ABBA mega sobs especially now my dd growing up
Landslide - Fleetwood MAC
Sunshine on Leith - The Proclaimers
In the Arms of an Angel - Sarah McLachlan
The Beatles- Blackbird and In my Life
Home away from Home - James Galway - This always makes me sob
The theme tune from The Thornbirds always gets me too 😥

megrichardson · 23/05/2020 12:07

Showing my age here.. It's unsophisticated and overly sentimental but it gives me chills. At the end when Lionel Ritchie pauses and just says 'still' my eyes well up.

The Commodores - still

Fleamaker123 · 23/05/2020 12:14

All out of Love by Air Supply (I wish you could come back and carry me home)

Theme tune to the Onedin Line makes me very emotional too
Black Beauty as well

MsTSwift · 23/05/2020 12:15

At the moment Luke Combs Six Feet Apart - Spotify it - it’s quite a cheerful song but had me in floods yesterday

RavenT · 23/05/2020 12:16

Be Still - The Killers

LittleGoose000 · 23/05/2020 12:29

Bakerofcakes · 23/05/2020 12:34

The Sound Of Silence - Disturbed
Parking Lot - Mineral

WildCherryBlossom · 23/05/2020 12:36

Agree with a lot of these:

Songbird, Fleetwood Mac
Hallelujah, Jeff Buckley
Feeling Good, Nina Simone

A couple of covers which are even more haunting than the original:
Mad World, Damien Rice
You do Something To Me, Skunk Anansie

Also Squander by Skunk Anansie

And has no-one mentioned Perfect Day, Lou Reed?

herecomesgeralt · 23/05/2020 12:57

Nessun Dorma
You Raise Me Up
The Phantom of the Opera
Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again
Defying Gravity
One Day More
Who Am I
Bring Him Home
My Man
Don't Rain On My Parade

Can you tell I'm a musical theatre fan Grin

GuyFawkesDay · 23/05/2020 13:07

Lippy Kids (Elbow) about lost youth. Beautiful.

Treeballarae · 23/05/2020 13:27

Oh yes OP definitely Highland Cathedral, played on the bagpipes. It was played at FIL's funeral last year on the organ and thankfully was not as sob-inducing as I don't think I could have coped.

Some other songs are
Sunshine on Leith
Machines by Biffy Clyro
Tori Amos Winter
Good Riddance by Green Day

AuntMasha · 23/05/2020 13:40

Purple Rain by Prince.

@HollysBush just this morning I was wrapping my sons birthday presents thinking about how he is growing up so quickly and then ABBA’s slipping through my fingers came on (was listening to Mamma Mia soundtrack Grin) serious sobbing out of nowhere Blush

dazzlingdeborahrose · 23/05/2020 14:16

Sand and water - Beth Neilson
Supermarket Flowers - Ed Sheeran
Both really get me as they make me think of my parents who both died far too young. I never make it through Sand and Water without being reduced to a wet mess.

IntoTheUnknown89 · 23/05/2020 14:26

You Take My Breath Away by Queen.

Blush whispers and Idina Menzels "Show Yourself" from Frozen 2 - I know I know!!

30daysoflight · 23/05/2020 14:27

O Lord is it mine, by Roger Hodgson. So beautiful I cry every time.

Different Corner - George Michael

Stay - East 17. I didn't realise this song was about the suicide of Tony Mortimer's brother at first. Always makes me sad for anyone who has experienced this.

Rollercoasteride · 23/05/2020 14:32

Mum had Fleetwood Mac Albertros at her funeral. It's the video that gets me x

Honeybee85 · 23/05/2020 14:37

Also :

Gypsy by Fleetwood Mac. It reminds me of how I feel sometimes - someone who follows her heart and let it leads her though it's scary sometimes not knowing where I might end up.

Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac. This also has to do with the video - it reminds me of a pure kind of romantic love, something I'm not sure of if it really exists.

thatgingergirl · 23/05/2020 15:07

Invisible - Hunter Hayes
Let it be Me - Ray LaMontagne
Delicate - Damien Rice

brimstonebaritone · 23/05/2020 15:26

Pearl Jam, Black
Fleetwood Mac, Songbird
Dixie Chicks, Travellin' Soldier
Arcade Fire, The Suburbs
