Can share why if you want or just share the song name. Or add a link so we can listen.

Attended an online funeral today and they played Highland Cathedral and realised it is always one that gets me. I was at this Proms in the Park that's seen on the video and I cried then and cried today when I heard it.

Don't give up by peter Gabriel
Simple gifts by the tabernacle choir even though I'm an atheist

Sunbeam18 · 29/05/2020 01:15

Whisky in the Jar

Strokethefurrywall · 29/05/2020 01:21

Bring Him Home - from Les Mis
Time To Say Goodbye - Andrea Boccelli
A Piece of Sky - Barbra Streisand
Fix You - Coldplay

I'm a singer and I can't sing any of the above without my voice hitching.

Strokethefurrywall · 29/05/2020 01:47

From Now On - The Greatest Showman

Forgot that one!

feelingverylazytoday · 29/05/2020 01:55

Something inside so strong by Labi Siffre
Schubert's Ave Maria.

wanderings · 01/06/2020 22:01
I especially love the line near the beginning "underneath their blankets go all the girls and boys". , Joni Mitchell.
Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/06/2020 22:28

Fast car.
Hello from the other side
Because you loved.
My Grandfather's clock
We'll meet again
Some Where over the rainbow.

Ginandbearit1 · 01/06/2020 22:28

Against all odds - Phil Collins
Never Love Again - Lady Gaga

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/06/2020 22:29

*Because you loved me

Henio · 01/06/2020 22:35

Boyce Avenue's version of 'Wanted'
His voice gets me every time

Miljea · 01/06/2020 22:42

Fascinating. Almost nothing more than 20 years ago.

Guess Elgar's Nimrod from the Enigma Variations would be a no....

Miljea · 01/06/2020 22:45

And most offerings from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir! Battle Hymn of the Republic, anyone?

Miljea · 01/06/2020 22:48

intotheunknown89

Yes, 'Oh Holy Night' (I admit the first time I heard it was on Home Alone!)

I also like *Carol of the bells'.

Louise2490 · 01/06/2020 22:55

James Morrison - You make it real

First song I heard when I found out I was pregnant after IVF, came on the radio when DH was driving us and our beautiful DD home from hospital 9 months later, and on DD's first birthday we asked Alexa to shuffle... first song she played Smile gives me lots of happy tears

Louise2490 · 01/06/2020 23:00

Hymns - Abide with Me and The Day Thou Gavest Lord is Ended. Both remind me of my Grandad who we lost in January of this year

Christmas carols - O Holy Night like others have said - I watch Home Alone and get goosebumps! And Away in a Manger

LadyGAgain · 01/06/2020 23:33

He ain't heavy, he's my brother

Chariots of fire

LadyGAgain · 01/06/2020 23:35

I made it through the rain

And yes, O Holy Night!

IntoTheUnknown89 · 04/06/2020 00:20

@Miljea Ah yes! Carol of the bells! I love it when Irish singers perform it ❤️

flouncymcflouncerson · 04/06/2020 00:53

@pinkrocker I lost my DH in 2017. Your song choices are beautiful. I cried listening to them.

For me it’s Dancing in the Sky by Dani and Lizzy. My sister suggested it to me for my husbands funeral and it was perfect.

AlrightBabby · 04/06/2020 01:43

Love and Affection - Joan Armatrading. Just floors me every time I hear it

And someones already said Nimrod

The80sweregreat · 04/06/2020 08:12

Nimrod
I try ( Macy Gray)
Bridge over troubled waters , Simon and Gurfunkel
My way

spikyplants · 04/06/2020 08:34

I didn't know The Cat Carol, and have just googled the lyrics Sad

Ave Maria - Mum loved this and it was played at her funeral. I almost passed out from stifling what was going to be a huge roaring sob Sad

Any classic Dusty Springfield song as they remind me so much of Mum. But If You Go Away in particular.

Walking in the Air. It's only as an adult I cry at The Snowman. Reminds me of lost childhood innocence and the people I've lost. Hurts more at Christmas.

Last Christmas - Wham. Poor George. Was such a shock when he died.

Decades - Joy Division. Beautiful and bleak.

All Cats Are Grey - The Cure. In fact, the entire album Faith.

Live To Tell - Madonna. Reminds me of a tough time in childhood.

Tchaikovsky - Hymn of the Cherubim. I'm not religious, but this is very moving.

Gregorio Allegri - Miserere. As above.

However, Leonid Kharitinov's version of Song of the Volga Boatmen lifts me right up when I'm feeling bad.

derxa · 04/06/2020 08:49
Caledonia Yes I'm a greetin' mess.
Dontsayyouloveme · 04/06/2020 08:58

No More I Love Yous - Annie Lenox 😭😭😭😭

derxa · 04/06/2020 09:05
You'll never walk alone at Celtic Park. They will sing again together when this horror is over
