Can share why if you want or just share the song name. Or add a link so we can listen.

Attended an online funeral today and they played Highland Cathedral and realised it is always one that gets me. I was at this Proms in the Park that's seen on the video and I cried then and cried today when I heard it.

I love MeatLoaf's version of It's All Coming Back To Me.

Zaphodsotherhead · 25/05/2020 21:09

Ultravox - Vienna.

I named my daughter after that song and it always makes me cry (even though she's now a strapping 30 year old not a tiny baby any more...)

I Just Called To Say I Love You - I remember dancing round my dnans kitchen with her to this as a child. It was our song. She died 2 months ago and I miss her so much.

Slipping Through My Fingers - makes me think of my stepdaughter. We haven't seen her for a year. Her choice sadly after years of parental alienation. I really loved her and I hope one day she comes back.

Just Haven't Met You Yet - Michael Buble. Reminds me of being pregnant with ds9. I was so scared when I was having him, convinced I was going to be a terrible mother and these lyrics comforted me "well someday I know it will all turn out, you'll make me work and we can work to work it out, and I promise you kid, I'll give so much more than I get.. I just haven't met you yet" 😊

What's Going On - Marvin Gaye. My dmums favourite song and reminds me of my childhood as she was always playing it.

Finally, Lifelines by a-ha. This song helped me get through a nervous breakdown a few years ago.

Just glanced through the thread and I see that someone already mentioned Bruce Springsteen 'The River'. The emotion that he pours into that song... 'now those memories come back to haunt me, they haunt me like a curse... though I know the river is dry' ... Sad

Willie Nelson and his daughter Paula, singing 'Have you ever seen the rain'?

I could list dozens more Smile

IntoTheUnknown89 · 25/05/2020 23:18

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER I'm like that with "O holy night" I cannot hear it withoyt bursting into tears.

"A ray of hope, the weary world rejoices, through yonder breaks a new and glorious morn. Fall on your knees, oh hear the angel voices. O night divine. O night that Christ was born"

Coincidentally, my much longed for, premature son was born on Christmas day after months of me being very poorly.

When she loved me (Jessie's song) from Toy story 2
Erik's opera, from Happy feet 2
Coney Island baby, by Lou Reed
Sister morphine by Marianne Faithfull.

Fleetwood mac- Dreams, it played in the helicopter as we flew across the Grand Canyon, I had been suffering with severe depression and anxiety prior to that trip, and I felt like it signalled a fresh start, which it did as things were and got much much better during and after this trip and I’ve not suffered from depression since

The Smiths- There is a light that never goes out, I just love this song, reminds me of an ex as we used to listen to it together

Sia- Breath me, I used to listen to this a lot when I was depressed

Coldplay- Fix you, I can’t listen to this song, it was on the radio a lot when my grandad was dying from end stage dementia

feelingverylazytoday · 25/05/2020 23:31

And Pictures of you by The Cure.

Elvis - Wise men say only fools rush in

longtompot · 28/05/2020 15:02

I Want To Break Free - Queen. Especially the key change bit
"But life still goes on
I can't get used to living without, living without
Living without you by my side
I don't want to live alone, hey
God knows, got to make it on my own"

Many of the others mentioned make me cry too, along with Johnny Cash - Hurt, Coldplay - The Scientist, Nick Cave - Into Your Arms, Arcade Fire - In The Backseat.

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 28/05/2020 15:18

The Living Years - Mike & The Mechanics
Who Knows Where the Time Goes, Sandy Denny
I Think I'm Going Back, Dusty Springfield
Abide with Me, played at my Dad's funeral and I can't listen to it without sobbing, even after 28 years.
