I mean it’s not Oscar worry for the acting, but for some feel good lovin’ and some mega inner dancing, it’s pretty good!

It's not supposed to.be fantastic acting ,it's supposed to be a feel.good film ,anyway I like it ,Nobody puts baby in the.corner!

Amortentia · 17/05/2020 21:12

It’s awful and that’s mostly down to the whole premise of the film, It’s bloody grim.

user764329056 · 17/05/2020 21:13

Agree, Amortentia

OculusThrift · 17/05/2020 21:16

It's awful, makes my skin crawl.

MrsPresley · 17/05/2020 21:17

I'm with you OP, like the music but that's about it!
My eldest 2, now in their 30s used to watch it almost constantly on video, they loved it! And still do, so this film always reminds me of them Smile

This is what I don’t get, how is feel good?

Women falls for lying scumbag, needs illegal abortion that goes wrong. Her pals, to save their own jobs take advantage of a naive numpty. She gives up her holiday to help them out and gets treated like dirt by grumpy dance instructor, but it’s all ok because underneath his dickhead exterior beats a heart of gold 🙄. Her dad was total on the ball and she should have been kept in that fucking corner until she grew up.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 17/05/2020 21:18

Yeah it's shite. In the same bracket as Grease.

IhateBoswell · 17/05/2020 21:22

Shock How very dare you! Masterpiece it is.

Likethebattle · 17/05/2020 21:23

I love it. I used to know the exact time on my video that the end dance starts and I would rewind again and again and again. If i wasn’t fat and a shit dancer I could recreate the final scene step for step!

JunoJigglewick · 17/05/2020 21:27

It's awful. I like the music but get creeper out by Johnny. And Baby is an idiot.

I hated it when one as younger, thought I'd maybe just misjudged it so watched d it again a few weeks ago and hated it more.

TheCanterburyWhales · 17/05/2020 21:28

It's definitely creepy and Mr Baby should have punched Johnny with his shiny Topman trousers and his heels into the corner tbf.
Didn't it only cost about £4.50 to make and everyone was ever so shocked when we all fell for it?
I'm with Witch- first saw it in Nov 89 and was pissed and in lurve at the time so rewatches take me back there.

Sparklingbrook · 17/05/2020 21:31

YY Mr Baby should have punched Johnny's lights out. Johnny also walks funny and is a bit slimey and sleazy.

My teenage self quite liked it. Blush

TwatCat · 17/05/2020 21:32

I can't stand it!!!

NaviSprite · 17/05/2020 21:32

I used to hope I'd grow up to be like Baby. I'm rapidly realising I'm actually channelling Mrs Schumacher. Never mind. Patrick Swayze is the most beautiful man to have ever lived. The end.

Sparklingbrook · 17/05/2020 21:38

Quite a few films from the 80s don't really stand up to close scrutiny. Many of my favourites are awful when you give them some thought.

I commented to my DH earlier that I thought it was such a feel good film.
Love it.
