YouJustDoYou · 18/05/2020 10:05

Nate it. Always have. Even as a teen I was like, she's 16 and shagging this older man? Urgh. Shudder.

YouJustDoYou · 18/05/2020 10:11

*hate

EngagedAgain · 18/05/2020 10:25

I thoroughly enjoyed it first time round. Second time I watched was a bit meh, saw it was on last night and didn't want to watch any of it. I don't usually watch films twice anyway. Maybe one I regarded as special with a very long gap between. Although I'm not a great reader, I would probably be the same with books. The best bit is the end, although all said and done PS's a great mover! Feel the same about Saturday Night Fever, and Grease. JT's a fab dancer.

Never watched it , no plans in the future.

KuckFnows · 18/05/2020 10:36

Love this film

nomorequilton · 18/05/2020 12:33

@Iamthewombat what an unpleasant person you are.

Iamthewombat · 18/05/2020 13:47

Oh bore off and learn to deal with not everybody liking the same things as you.

Sparklingbrook · 18/05/2020 13:52

Are we really having a bun fight over a mediocre 80s film? Wine

x2boys · 18/05/2020 14:59

Indeed Sparkling ,I have watched it a million and one times ( slight exaggeration) I like it ,but only because IMO it's a feel good film I don't expect to be intellectually stretched by it😂

swashbucklecheer · 18/05/2020 15:01

I didn't really get the hype either

Sparklingbrook · 18/05/2020 15:28

@x2boys I got told off on another Dirt Dancing thread for pondering whether or not Baby and Johnny used contraception as it wasn’t mentioned. That’s not the point of the film apparently. Sad Grin

Oldraver · 18/05/2020 19:00

Nope never got it

x2boys · 18/05/2020 19:13

Well ,now ,I'm wondering too @Sparklingbrook , you would hope they would knowing what Penny went through ,plus Baby,s Dad was a Dr ,but where would they have got Condom,s from in the middle of the Catskills in the 60,s ? DO you think they sold them in the toilets a t Kellermans 🤔

MitziK · 18/05/2020 19:19

YABU. He'd have found himself on a Register these days.

x2boys · 18/05/2020 19:31

He was 25 she was 17 whilst it would certainly raise eyebrows, these days it wouldn't be illegal , things were different in 60,sand actually the 80,s when the film was made teenagers did go out with men in their 20,s not suggesting that's right but it certainly happened.

Overseasmom100 · 18/05/2020 19:42
