Will you go out when lockdown is eased?

so say when coffee shops and restaurants are allowed to reopen, will you be going? I can’t see myself being comfortable going out to eat for quite some time

I would love a cappuccino made by someone else in a cafe! What small joy!

yogz1976 · 04/05/2020 18:19

YES, YES and YES!!!! I refuse to be scared of this virus, and I refuse to allow the UK news media to terrorise me into thinking I will die from a virus which is now known to be LESS fatal in younger people than the seasonal flu.

decktheballss · 04/05/2020 18:20

Yes of course

Mimilamore · 04/05/2020 18:24

No, I don't really feel I want to jump straight into old ways. Like to think this has changed me for the better. Will support local businesses on line and long to go to the woods or beach but shops and cafes ...no way

Lemonysherbet · 04/05/2020 18:26

Depends on the timing as I'm 36 weeks pregnant

DurhamDurham · 04/05/2020 18:26

I can't wait to get my hair trimmed and dyed.
I'm looking forward to meeting up with our daughter who doesn't live with us for a coffee and with my sister for an afternoon of cocktails. I imagine I'll be off to the local pub for a drink with my husband when it reopens.

Onlyherefortheconspiracies · 04/05/2020 18:40

Yes of course. I'm a healthy 40 something who had a full, busy live. I want it back. I don't do nature etc, I'm a city girl so that's what I enjoy.

I run my own business normally but took supermarket work at the start of this to get me out so I've been mixing with people all along.

Bathroom12345 · 04/05/2020 18:43

I will of course be going out. See, I don’t understand people who want this lockdown to continue. I would like to see restaurants open. Fed up of endless shopping for food, cooking and cleaning up. It’s not just me doing it but honestly, our dishwasher is on 4 times a day!

Need a cut and blow dry too!

yearinyearout · 04/05/2020 18:45

I will, but I think I'll be careful. So maybe go to a coffee shop but only if it's not too crowded, go to the pub but sit outside etc.

MinkowskisButterfly · 04/05/2020 18:50

Nope, unless necessary for school (and take dd1 to her support groups if they are open). DH is still working ooh and I am vulnerable (asthma). So until a vaccine or a medication plan that will work is available then no (and yes we all have flu jab every year before anyone says anything along those lines 🙄).

fourpeasinapod · 04/05/2020 18:51

@Jeeperscreepers69 how do I sound weird?

Millie2013 · 04/05/2020 18:57

Planning to spend much of the summer outdoors, as we usually do. Looking forward to trips to the park for picnics and play. We will go out to cafes, but will probably sit outside at first (as per usual for the summer)

Dontjumptoconclusions · 04/05/2020 18:59

Nope, I'm waiting.

No doubt the death rate will spike again once everyone goes running go bars, parks, gyms and hair salons.

So I'll just wait and see what happens and base my own decision on what the stats are.

Jeeperscreepers69 · 04/05/2020 18:59

@fourpeasinapod. I thought everyone would be chomping at the bit to be out not wimping in a corner. Stop letting this virus rule you.

AgentCooper · 04/05/2020 19:05

I would love to get on a bus and read a book. And go to work and the gym. Those things are my freedom. After an initial wobble I was doing really well until week 6, at home with my two year old, furloughed. I had the most horrendous week with anxiety and depression. Probably not completely out of the woods yet but fingers crossed. I can’t wait till this ends.

timeforawine · 04/05/2020 19:07

As soon as hairdressers are open I'm there 😄😄😄
I rarely eat out so wouldn't rush to a restaurant or cafe, would happily go to my local pub though.
I just want to go to my friends for a BBQ and for our children to play

LindainLockdown · 04/05/2020 19:25

Absolutely, when cafes etc are opened it is because they will be safe to do so and they need our support to survive.

Vintagevixen · 04/05/2020 19:27

Definitely. All of life is balancing risk, you can't live life scared all the time in my opinion, particularly if you have no health concerns. And I am an ITU nurse so VERY aware of all health related worst case scenarios and the potential for a second peak.

I will be the first down the hairdressers to get my fringe done, can't wait to have a coffee in a cafe either.

But everyone must make their own risk assessments and decisions, it's very personal.

Bertucci · 04/05/2020 19:31

Like. A. Shot.

fourpeasinapod · 04/05/2020 19:31

@Jeeperscreepers69 I’m not “wimping in a corner”

I have stated that I don’t think I’d feel comfortable for a while. That’s pretty natural considering we are in the middle of a global pandemic.

That’s not say I don’t want out. Of course I do. I don’t like this anymore than you do

I love love love this thread! I was under the impression that everyone on mumsnet thought that opening your window during lockdown was irresponsible.

So relief to know that there a good chunk that are going to trust that when lockdown is eases and cafes etc start to open - they can do just that. And bloody enjoy it!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 04/05/2020 21:12

@Sodamncold there's a few of us around, come join us on the Dementors thread! Grin

HerRoyalNotness · 04/05/2020 21:19

No. They have eased where we are but we will do stay at home for another 2 weeks and see what happens. People are already being complacent.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 04/05/2020 22:03

No, shall still be really cautious. Can’t imagine wandering around the shops or eating out for quite some time. Would like a holiday but it’s not essential and it can wait.

Horehound · 04/05/2020 22:05

I'm not going anywhere until the people who are excited to go out go do their thing and calm the fuck down. Pubs are going to be packed...there's no way I'm going anywhere near them.
I will visit close family at their houses/our houses but that's it.
