Will you go out when lockdown is eased?

so say when coffee shops and restaurants are allowed to reopen, will you be going? I can’t see myself being comfortable going out to eat for quite some time

I wonder how many people commenting on this thread will die from it. Because the likelihood is...some will. :(

HollyBollyBooBoo · 04/05/2020 22:11

I will.

I feel like there are some very odd scenario plans going on. My workplace will be limiting the number of people in the building because we'll have to use every other desk to stay apart, but surely as it's an air conditioned building the air system will just blow all the germs around anyway? Doesn't seem logical to me.

I wonder how many people commenting on this thread will die from it. Because the likelihood is...some will. :(

And some might die when they get into their cars and have an accident. Some might die in an accident in their home. From cancer, a fall, a fire, a heart attack, sepsis, a brain haemorrhage etc. The list goes on. Life is risk. Death is effectively hovering over us every second of the day, Covid 19 or not. That's just life.

TinRoofRusty · 04/05/2020 22:19

Something is going to kill all of us.

userxx · 04/05/2020 22:19

Hell yeeesssss. I'm going to stay out for 24 hours wandering the streets and drinking in bars. Can't wait.

SpratsOnParade · 04/05/2020 22:21

I'm not going to spend my time flapping and fretting over any of them.

Besides, most people do not die from Covid-19. So the odds are that people on this thread won't.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 04/05/2020 22:33

I'll catch up with friends but in the open air.

YeOldeTrout · 04/05/2020 22:37

Yes.
Pubs, Cafes & restaurants: I don't habitually go to those places anyway. So expensive. I'm not a recreational shopper, either. Right now my job is insecure (crisis related) so I won't pick up a new habit of going often. But if it's legal to go & someone invites me, then yes, sure, I'll go, presuming the price isn't 30x higher than now as only viable business model.

RunningNinja79 · 04/05/2020 22:37

Yes, can't wait. However, I will probably wait to let the crowds die down a bit. Not because I'm scared of coronavirus, but because I just can't be doing with large crowds. This is nothing new for me. Nothing worse than trying to go somewhere and its full of people and you can't hardly move. That's the only reason why I'd wait.

Really looking forward to being able travel within the UK, hopefully get away to the coast. We've got a holiday cottage booked for the end of June but I'm not sure if we'll make it by then. Or a day out in the country would be nice.

I don't think I'd feel comfortable going into restaurants, pubs or travelling on public transport though.

I'm thinking of a life more like when I grew up in the 1970's and it wasn't the norm to eat out all the time, a day out meant a picnic and deck chairs and takeaway fish and chips was your holiday treat.

I have a few friends and family members I'd like to meet up with but will start with outdoor meet ups and chairs at a distance.

I'm currently working from home, and would expect to remain that way for the next few months but if we did need to return earlier then I would want to wear a mask when coming into contact with others. I would still be able to WFH some days anyway.

I do most of my shopping online anyway, and am only doing the weekly supermarket shop in person because there aren't many deliveries

pinkkoala · 04/05/2020 22:45

Yes, i will be meeting my friend for coffee and an evening in my local pub.
But i have been working throughout lockdown as i am health care worker and my dp has been working throughout as he is hgv driver, my dd has been off school.

shinynewapple2020 · 04/05/2020 23:02

@JeepersCreepers69 no one I know is champing at the bit to be let out! Well, no-one older than DS and his friends . I know a lot of people who wish there was no virus and things were as they were last year but nobody who is in a hurry to get out there in the current climate.

coronabeer23 · 04/05/2020 23:03

I’ll be at the hairdressers and nail bar the moment I can be but other than that I’ll take it slowly. I’m looking forward to meeting a friend for a coffee but I don’t think I’ll be rushing to restaurants, won’t be taking public transport but do plan to meet woth friends in our homes, I’m also looking forward to my teens being able to meet with their friends

BubblesBuddy · 04/05/2020 23:19

I’m in my 60s and I need to live! I’m in a hurry to fit everything in before I die anyway! I’m not expecting it for 15 years. However the clock seems to tick faster now. Younger people have time to achieve what they want. I don’t feel I do. I wouldn’t break the law but I’m not scared at all. My needs outweigh any thoughts of being scared. If I thought I was remotely ill, I wouldn’t go out.

BubblesBuddy · 04/05/2020 23:20

Bring on the nail bar!!!

SpaceCadet4000 · 04/05/2020 23:22

I'm in the US Midwest and our lockdown was eased today. My rather unglamorous firsts were a trip to the mulch site to get rid of garden weeds we pulled (didn't want to burn) and I'll be going for a routine blood test to check my thyroid levels later this week. Needs trumped wants haha.

In all seriousness though, most places are only open at 25% capacity which makes it difficult to do much of anything. The hairdressers are booked for weeks, many of the restaurants will still struggle to survive with reduced capacity and there are some crazy lines outside of stores today.

I can't wait to go to an outdoor festival, our city did a great annual Earth Day event.

CrowCat · 04/05/2020 23:30

Of course!

PeppersYellow · 04/05/2020 23:31

No. Simply because life is more precious than going for a coffee, to the nail bar or having my hair done but if looking nice is more important than that then you all crack on.

seahawk · 05/05/2020 00:03

Yes, as soon as we're able to. I'm more interested in museums, galleries and the theatre though, which might take longer to open. Although the experience might not be worth the wait if it involves long queues and other restrictions. I'm looking forward to going to restaurants, but I don't use cafes or pubs much. I don't use hairdressers, nail bars or do much shopping in stores either. I'll be using public transport when it's possible to again, to be able to travel further outside of the local area. And swimming classes, stay and play and playgrounds for DD.

LennyPugGoat · 05/05/2020 00:11

No, I can’t imagine ever going back to anything again.cant think bout school runs, work or anything social.

We have no family to miss which has been a plus side, I can’t see myself recovering from where we are now to be brutally honest.

StuckBetweenDarknessAndLight · 05/05/2020 00:41

No. I wasn't too fazed by lockdown but the thought of a second phase really worries me. I take my dogs out for a walk every day and it's been getting busier and harder to avoid people in the last couple of weeks and I worry about SD once lockdown starts to lift. And I can't even think about how bad the supermarket will be, it's been bad enough already.

JigsawsAreCool · 05/05/2020 00:50

No way. I'm terrified.

I want to give them as long as possible to learn as much as they can about it and what might help.

But then I have bad asthma and autoimmune diseases.

WaktiWapnasi · 05/05/2020 01:04

Yes because we've all had it so no danger to anyone anymore.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 05/05/2020 03:14

I'm looking forward to seeing my 86 year old mother, who told my daughter today that she has been locked down for 7 weeks and is going out next week and doesn't care if she gets arrested!

I will be seeing her, and my son and his GF, as soon as it fits the rules because we have all isolated so risk is minimal.

I would love pub lunches and theatres and cinemas and restaurants but can very happily manage without if I can see friends and family.

HandfulOfFlowers · 05/05/2020 04:14

Yes, I will be doing everything allowed as soon as possible. All my household is low risk and our concerns about catching it are far outweighed by the current prolonged crapness of being in lockdown.
