Will you go out when lockdown is eased?

so say when coffee shops and restaurants are allowed to reopen, will you be going? I can’t see myself being comfortable going out to eat for quite some time

I think the poster above may be right. Those of us who have carried on coming out to work and who's children and carried on going to school may have a different take on things?

Well personally for me we spent 2 weeks in complete self isolation at the beginning due to symptoms, since then (well before then actually as his very large office closed early) DH has been working from home, I work freelance from home and my children are at home, yet we will still be getting out and about as soon as we’re permitted. We haven’t been sitting at home anxiously or panicking about leaving the house, we’ve just been following the guidance for our particular circumstances. I am definitely on the more relaxed side of the fence.

ElephantLover · 04/05/2020 16:55

Nope, if anything it will be even more risky than going to shops now.

Drivingdownthe101 · 04/05/2020 16:56

Well I’m happy to go to the shops now.

Dowser · 04/05/2020 16:59

I’ve been out most days. Most days.
Been to town today to do some banking.
Was nice to feel it was almost normal, despite only a handful of shops open.
Always have a laugh with the girls in the health store.
It has given my mh a boost
Even though we went out yesterday, I find Sunday’s hardest
Sunday’s are the days we go out for Sunday dinner...somthat very hard to recreate

CurlyEndive · 04/05/2020 17:03

Yes!

And we haven't been out to work / school as a pp suggested - just food shopping and exercise.

CoronaIsComing · 04/05/2020 17:06

Yes but we won’t be going to restaurants, cinemas, swimming pools, Chill Factor etc i.e. indoor places.

We will see close friends and family and focus on our outdoor hobbies like mountain biking (currently only riding up and down the prom and even that’s getting too busy so we might have to stop), paddle boarding and BMXing/ skateboarding for DS.

zafferana · 04/05/2020 17:08

Hell, yeah! Can't wait.

No

SomewhereEast · 04/05/2020 17:14

Fuck yes! As physically fit thirty-something with less than brilliant mental health I worry far more about losing all the things that make life worthwhile than I do about catching a virus which poses a statistically minute risk to someone like me.

ChavvySexPond · 04/05/2020 17:20

Nope. I'll let you guys build the second wave without me cheers. The current plateau of hundreds dying every day is quite enough for me. I don't want to be a link in the chain of transmission that causes someone's death.

BubblesBuddy · 04/05/2020 17:23

As I’m over 60 I guess I’m a bigger risk but I really cannot wait to do something! Everything I cherish has gone. Family are safe and I need to have something to look forward to. I should have been in Uzbekistan right now. Argentina and then the Antarctic this winter. My love is theatre and ballet and I belong to several self learning/teaching groups. I love horse racing and we go to premier football a lot. All gone.

I enjoy wonderful food produced by talented chefs. Never mind the seating - how can they manage social distancing in kitchens? How long will it take to embark and disembark when flying? It’s seems that my future will be ultra dull. I’m getting older and so is DH. We feel very disheartened and cannot wait to do something we formerly enjoyed!

daisychain01 · 04/05/2020 17:26

People can post anything they like on here, it doesn't mean it will happen. Lots of Yes responses, people saying they'll rush out to a cafe on Day 1 should not influence others on what they should personally do.

Each person needs to do their own personal risk assessment based on their age, health, density of population where they live, family circumstances etc etc.

For goodness sake don't just mindlessly leap off the nearest cliff like lemmings just because everyone else says they will. That's shockingly bad. It creates a feeling of safety when it isn't necessarily so, in all cases.

Ain't nooooomway I'm rushing out, and I live in a very rural community!

daisychain01 · 04/05/2020 17:29

I'll let you guys build the second wave without me cheers

An eminent Professor from Imperial College, I didn't catch his name ( not Ferguson ) was on LBC on Sunday, talking about the fact that the Spanish flu epidemic Wave 2 of infection/death toll was significantly more severe than Wave 1.

That's not scare-mongering, look it up and decide for yourselves, but it was enough to make me want to continue to be in lockdown a lot longer.

TheFluffiestCat · 04/05/2020 17:32

Yes, as long as it's a pleasant experience. I'll drive to a country park the moment it's allowed. I wouldn't want to go to a restaurant for pleasure if tables were miles apart, so there's no atmosphere, or the waiter is wearing a mask and looking like he'd rather we weren't there. If I was late for work and forgot my sandwiches I'd go to a cafe at lunchtime without hesitation.

billycorn · 04/05/2020 17:33

Yes, can't wait. I need some culture pronto!

TowerRingInferno · 04/05/2020 17:34

Yes. Can’t wait.

BubblesBuddy · 04/05/2020 17:35

If you don’t have much to do or you don’t need to earn money, Lockdown is ok. If your life was full and/or you need to work, then going out is different and you might value it highly. At some stage jobs will be lost. If people don’t get back to work or buying anything much the economy will tank. If you are already on a nice pension and have low outgoings you can bob along. If you need money and you need your job, locking down for more months might be impossible. If people stay away from work, there might be an argument to say their jobs are not needed. Then what?

Kingjarvis · 04/05/2020 17:35

I’ll be straight out. I can’t wait.

SodaSloth · 04/05/2020 17:37

Can't wait to go on a cafe and get a latte so I can complain about paying a ridiculous amount for it 😉

user1487194234 · 04/05/2020 17:38

Yes

Scruffyoak · 04/05/2020 17:39

Yep. Hair dressers, beach, country park

Fantasisa · 04/05/2020 17:39

Hard YES from me

billycorn · 04/05/2020 17:39

Daisy Chain- Imperial College always work on the worse case scenarios. The are renowned for it and there are plenty of scientists who disagree with their modelling.
Who's to say we're not going through a second wave now, China clearly lied as to when the virus started there. I'm also very confident a therapy will be found very soon to prevent or deal with a devastating second wave (if that were to happen).

Jeeperscreepers69 · 04/05/2020 17:46

Errr thats the general plan to go out. Dont be daft you sound weird.
