How long is your daily jaunt outdoors lasting?

I've been taking my 2 kids on a 1 hour bike ride each day - they are 3 and 6 so it's a slow ride but we go round the whole outside of the village once and back in from the back way then straight home. Sometimes we stay in one little area (there's a small green with a circular path in the middle they like to whizz round) - but only for a few minutes and if there's no one else around. My friend thinks this is excessive and it should be 10 minutes max! What is every else doing?

To add we see maybe 3 or 4 other families on our walk and keep well away

Is your friend very fat? She must be if she thinks 10 mins is exercise 😂

dementedma · 05/04/2020 20:06

I do about an hour walking

GlummyMcGlummerson · 05/04/2020 20:06

Gro no she's one of those annoyingly skinny people who can eat a Dominoes pizza every day then burn it off by walking across the living room 🤣

An hour is fine.

MiniatureRed · 05/04/2020 20:07

We walk/cycle/scoot round our local park for about half an hour.

PigInASlanket · 05/04/2020 20:08

An hour for a walk, half an hour for a run because I can't run for an hour

ratspeaker · 05/04/2020 20:09

50 mins to an hour walking

Taswama · 05/04/2020 20:10

It varies. On 4 days last week it was a ‘daily mile’ run with my DC (9 and 12). That takes between 12 and 14 minutes. Another day I went for a lunchtime walk with colleagues (on the phone) for 45 mins, another day I did a 4.5 mile run on my own, also about 45 mins. Today we had a family walk that lasted 3 hours but hardly saw anyone.

babychange12 · 05/04/2020 20:10

About an hour as well

An hour or so on work days, if time permits. A beautiful two hour walk today ( before the ranting starts - private land with permission, didn’t meet another soul apart from my husband, didn’t walk through a farmyard, didn’t drive, didn’t climb any stiles, no closer than half a mile from houses).

Certainly blew the cobwebs away and we enjoyed the sun enormously.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 05/04/2020 20:14

Phew! I shall tell her Grin

I've seen online too people saying 20-40 minutes has been recommended by Matt Hancock (it hasn't). Honestly this pandemic is a busybody's paradise isn't it

Gardened for most of the day, in between sitting enjoying the sun and chasing the dog around with a ball. Lucky enough to have a garden so no need to go further.

LargeGinOnTap · 05/04/2020 20:14

45-1hr walking so far

Butwhhhyyyyyyy · 05/04/2020 20:16

My 1st one with the DC today and the last, 2 lots of people not anywhere near social distancing and we moved and they just stayed close, it's bad and DC want to stay home now.

Butwhhhyyyyyyy · 05/04/2020 20:17

This was all in a 15 min walk, would have been about 30 mins really but home early

Floobydoodoo · 05/04/2020 20:18

Between 30-90 minutes, depending on if running or walking & if dc have come too.

georgialondon · 05/04/2020 20:18

About an hour

DameHannahRelf · 05/04/2020 20:19

Walking for about 20 minutes, up to an hour and a half, depending on the day/weather/who else is about/which way we go.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/04/2020 20:23

About an hour usually. Yesterday we didn't go out, today we found a path we didn't know about and ended up doing 2 - but only saw one other couple across a field. The sort of walk that's not particularly attractive even to locals, but pleasant.

Usually we'd be doing a proper walk at the weekend - several hours on hills rather than the flat.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/04/2020 20:25

About an hour - today was a bit longer. We're doing a mixture of pavement pounding and parks - everyone being very good about distancing and nowhere has been very busy.

carlywurly · 05/04/2020 20:28

We're aiming for an hour - 2 minutes over today! Enough to stop us feeling too cooped up.

Ghostlyglow · 05/04/2020 21:16

Lots of people seem to think it can only be an hour. Gove is to blame for that, apparently.
About an hour and a half. More if we have time

ParkheadParadise · 05/04/2020 21:28

Mines usually 10mins
A walk round the cul-de-sac with dd. Today she insisted she had to take a bloody walking talking doll with us, only probably is it is running out of batteries so it was walking and talking in slow motion so took us 30mins to walk round. 🤣🤣
We have a large garden so she is out there all day.
