Which would you buy?

I would probably go for this one:

I like the arched front and huge backyard.

You can spend less than the £1 million but no more. Go, go, go...

Hey, I only broke the budget a little, Queen, you've blown it out of the water!

SudokuQueen · 05/04/2020 21:49

OK maybe a little.. But as an equestrian, that is heaven! Sod the house, I'm only looking at the facilities and it has EVERYTHING bar an indoor arena, which if I was that rich, I'd build one. Grin

£1m is about $1.7m CA.

If I moved out of Calgary I'd go to Canmore which is about an hour west and buy something like this with a view of the mountains 😍

If I stayed in the city then something like this. I don't love the decor of this one but I love the location, this is a gorgeous neighbourhood: www.remaxcentral.ab.ca/listing/C4286165-21-discovery-ridge-ld-sw-calgary-alberta-t3h-5h7/

This one is a little bit out west of the city, not far from my current neighbourhood, and has 5.5 acres so I could get a pony (or three) 😄

Love the mountains but hate the house - why are the ceilings all at wonky angles??? Stop it!!

VetOnCall · 05/04/2020 22:11

I have no idea 😄 I just adore Canmore, it's the most gorgeous little mountain town. I'd put up with wonky ceilings to live there with those views!

I guess I'll need a mortgage for the rest....

I reckon I could see myself in this one...

makingmiracles · 05/04/2020 22:21

A tad over budget but it has come down in price and may come down further, this would suit me down to the ground here

OhTheRoses · 05/04/2020 22:31

@midsomermurderess - glances right at Monet print. Yes, it is a bit naff but I bougjt it when I owned my first flat, so circa 1983. It has sentimental value and actually I don't hate it.

CoffeeandPainting · 05/04/2020 22:41

Nice 4 bedroom...

Big front room and kitchen and a nice size garden .... Ooh, with a utility room

bettybattenburg · 05/04/2020 22:43

this would be acceptable but needs a lot of work doing on it so I'd prefer this and get a house built.

Line that Vet, wobbly ceilings and all

They need to fire their estate agent. Who the hell put all of that writing over the pictures so that you can't see anything? Confused Hopefully it's just my phone doing that. But even that aside, they are lying too, the living room doesn't really have floor to ceiling windows, there's two sets of windows and neither reach the floor or the ceiling. Still a lot of light coming in, but not accurate.

Cherrysoup · 06/04/2020 00:07

@SudokuQueen. Good god, woman, you’ve gone insane! 🤣 My cousin lives in that village and Twyford is my parents’ old stamping ground. I was born in Reading, lived in Caversham. Loving the arena. You could just put fencing round it to support a roof.

SudokuQueen · 06/04/2020 00:29

@Cherrysoup I know! 😂 But it's so awesome, all those stables, a polo field (which would obviously get turned into a mini cross country/hunter/show jumping field), a long track for hacking/canter work, the arena.. It's heaven 😁

DumpedByText · 06/04/2020 01:32

This is my dream home, I'd use the leftover money to change the bathrooms and carpets. It's not too far from your dream home either, waves at OP! www.rightmove.co.uk/s6p/89972885

AlexCrowe84 · 06/04/2020 01:56

Mine is a bargain - actually affordable for me! Just a shame it's so far away. I'm not a religious person at all, but love the beauty of old churches and chapels.

astropoodle · 06/04/2020 11:29

That former church is lovely, I could live there as long as there wasn't a grave yard still.

CheriLittlebottom · 06/04/2020 11:50

That converted church is a bargain! Beautiful. I would happily have the graveyard too.

This one. Lovely house.

bananaskinsnomnom · 06/04/2020 12:36

Bloody hell this thread is making me seriously want to pack up my life and move area!!!! When I look at the slightly larger than average 3 bed semis around here that go for half a million......houses that are a million still have hardly any land......it’s painful! But that what you get with a 40 minute commute to London I guess

bananaskinsnomnom · 06/04/2020 12:37

I’m honestly not sure how I would feel about living in a house that was a church....I think I would feel like God was always watching!

Then again I like to think that if there is a God, he would have a sense of humour and wouldn’t mind us converting a baptismal font into a hot tub.....
