You have £1 million to spend on a house..

Which would you buy?

I would probably go for this one:

I like the arched front and huge backyard.

You can spend less than the £1 million but no more. Go, go, go...

That's a beautiful house that has been butchered by awful decor - I'd have to rip that kitchen out - looks like a grey morgue.

phivephatphish · 02/04/2020 21:06

I wouldn’t buy any house right now. Give it six months and you’ll snap that up for £500k

Gingerkittykat · 02/04/2020 21:13

I'm moving here

LesLavandes · 02/04/2020 21:16

Love it, Gingerkat

Litthefirealready · 02/04/2020 21:17

It’s gorgeous Gingerkittykat

Fiddlersgreen · 02/04/2020 21:26

It’s gorgeous. £1 million wouldn’t get you anything like that round here.
So with that budget I’d go for this:

MadameJosephine · 02/04/2020 21:30

I’m torn between these two

www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-63759609.html

Love the first one but the decor is a bit too dark so I’d spend the remaining £50k on re
decorating

Nanalisa60 · 02/04/2020 21:37

MadameJosephine

I just love the second one just lovely!!

I don’t think I would need to change a thing, do u think they will leave me the furniture if I offer near the fall asking price (well one can dream)

Flummingbird · 02/04/2020 21:44

This would do for me...

Growingboys · 02/04/2020 21:45

Don't get much near me for £1m so I'd buy this as a holiday home instead and spend the change doing it up.

CheriLittlebottom · 02/04/2020 21:45

Growingboys · 02/04/2020 21:47

Ooh @cheri that house in Leyburn is nice!

Needs the decor ripped out then would be lovely. Excellent neck of the woods.

Gammeldragz · 02/04/2020 21:48

Oooh, house porn! I love this game...

www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/53249681

Has a gym and sauna too!

TitianaTitsling · 02/04/2020 21:50

www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-83473391.html. I like the idea of being able to play croquet or pitch and putt.

Gammeldragz · 02/04/2020 21:51

Agree the first house posted has a horrific kitchen but you could film a good horror movie in it.

MgihtaswellbeAkon · 02/04/2020 21:52

Oh @CheriLittlebottom you little rule breaker Grin

@Gammeldragz, you’re going to have a bidding war with me on that one Wink

I would most definitely redecorate my selection, hence why I didn’t spend the full million!

OP posts:
Gammeldragz · 02/04/2020 21:52

@TitianaTitsling yours is amazing! So much house for the same price as my 4 bed local to me (the one I posted, I don't own a house!). Couldn't imagine living in it though.

Gammeldragz · 02/04/2020 21:54

@Gingerkittykat ooh I like yours, jacuzzi with a view!

midsomermurderess · 02/04/2020 22:01

Some expensive houses with very cheap-looking furniture and fittings. And do people really spend about a million on a house and put up Klimt and Monet prints?

Cherrysoup · 02/04/2020 22:03

This one, please and thank you.

www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-85100348.html

APurpleSquirrel · 02/04/2020 22:06

This one - love the size of master bedroom & that all the rooms look out on to the garden. www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-76283143.html

TitianaTitsling · 02/04/2020 22:14

gammel it's lovely, if you like solitude, a tad in arse end of not a lot, but would do for summering I suppose! Grin

Inthemuckheap · 02/04/2020 22:29

@Cherrysoup great choice but would use the left over money to change the kitchen tiles.

workshyfop · 02/04/2020 22:44

This one - I could be very happy here.

www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-69227253.html

lakeswimmer · 02/04/2020 22:50

workshyfop the cathedral view is lovely from that one.

This my choice - lots of space without being too big and a gorgeous garden www.themodernhouse.com/sales-list/scythe-barn
