You have £1 million to spend on a house..

Which would you buy?

I would probably go for this one:

I like the arched front and huge backyard.

You can spend less than the £1 million but no more. Go, go, go...

Ditto @bananaskinsnomnom

£1m would get you a 2 or possibly 3 bed apartment in the new development up the road from me or you could get a 3 bed detached 70s build house at the moment.

Although I think it's overpriced.

MulticolourMophead · 06/04/2020 13:31

There's a house near me that's up for £470,000. I'd offer less, but I'd be having a new kitchen there, and re-decorating throughout.

Ther's only one house in my town on the market with a tag over £1m, but I think it's over-priced for the area. It's already been reduced by £200,000.

LuluJakey1 · 06/04/2020 13:38

Oh this one?

TheSandman · 06/04/2020 13:46

I don't think I would buy a new house. I live in a ramshackle Victorian school and other family lives in the house next door. I'd happily spend a million on building a 2 storey glass structure that bridges the two converting it into one building with a shedload of passive heat gain.

It'll need some fixing up but this will do for me.

Or this one with a bit of modernisation

This'll do me as well

Fabulous treehouse and a real Good Life type of house but I wonder how easy it would be to get up and down to that beach?

I really could go down a rabbit hole on Right Move with this.

GnomeDePlume · 07/04/2020 05:50

@AlexCrowe84

I love the description for the old church FORMER CHURCH really! I would never have guessed!

Wouldnt you worry about people trotting up trying to arrange weddings?

Still not found my ideal home. All I want is about 10 acres of agricultural land (for my lottery dream farm), 4 or more bedrooms, a walled kitchen garden, facilities near by.

Is it so much to ask?

PineappleDanish · 07/04/2020 09:21

@ElGuardiandenoche that one in Looe is just gorgeous. I could spend HOURS sitting on that balcony with a glass of wine while the kids are (locked) in the treehouse.

Such a lovely part of the world. Maybe next year we'll get back down to Cornwall.

MrsCollinssettled · 07/04/2020 10:07

Can I have this please?

TattiePants · 07/04/2020 11:32

@MrsPworkingmummy you must live round the corner from me. DH remembers drinking in the Carlton Bar (the kitchen of your first property) when it was owned by Sunderland Uni. The DCs went to school at SHS although not on that site. I really hope someone buys Langham Tower, it’ll be such a shame if it’s left empty much longer.

MrsPworkingmummy · 07/04/2020 13:30

@TattiePants it's a small world Smile. It's a real shame SHS closed down. Apartments next to me also used to be part of it too. We really hope Langham Tower will be turned into a Jesmond Dene House style hotel and restaurant. The only problem is, all of the gardens have been sold off and retirement apartments built on them so that might be off putting? What we don't want is more apartments as it would be a real shame in such a stunning building. Lots of interesting builds happening in our area at the moment. I'm waiting with interest see what happens with the Backhouse Park Hall regeneration too.

mklanch · 07/04/2020 16:23

MrsCollinssettled - thank you :)

CheriLittlebottom · 07/04/2020 17:33

Oooh mklanch that is actually my favourite so far!

forkfun · 07/04/2020 17:49

I need a lot more than a million here, but I do love this one. www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-66940581.html

Animum2 · 07/04/2020 19:12

Love this one

Cloudhopping · 07/04/2020 19:25

animum2 that is such a pretty house!!! I could just stare at the outside all day.

ElGuardiandenoche · 07/04/2020 23:16

@forkfun that's an interesting house but I really want to look at the one opposite it as seen in picture 24.

MrsPworkingmummy · 09/04/2020 08:11

@LuluJakey1 that last house you've posted is AMAZING!

mochojoes · 09/04/2020 08:31

This thread is depressing as I need a much bigger budget

www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-88401020.html

& it needs redecorating

The first house is gorgeous (interiors not so much) & the castle. Roll on remote working!

QueenofLouisiana · 09/04/2020 08:32

I’ll be here: www.rightmove.co.uk/overseas-property/property-89520215.html?currencyCode=GBP
Some of the decor isn’t quite to my taste, but I love the area and exterior. I could earn money from the two rentals.

mochojoes · 09/04/2020 08:34

@animum2 that house is beautiful, so light.

mochojoes · 09/04/2020 08:35

@QueenofLouisiana I dream of a chateau but the upkeep must be £££££

Verily1 · 09/04/2020 08:49

Ponjos- that Bakewell one is my favourite so far. It has the feel of a celebrity house. Wonder who? It’s got so many artistic touches. I’d definitely move in there!
