When you were 18 and going Out Out, what was your favourite outfit?

Mum has just sent me a photo of me going Out Out approximately 10 years ago.

I had a giant windswept fringe that took a whole can of hairspray, a H&M floral skater dress with a tiny belt and cardigan, bare legs, Converse and a cross body bag.

Underneath the fringe there's rings of eyeliner and Maybelline Great Lash

I think at this point I thought I looked like Alexa Chung

Floral rara skirt, cowboy boots and a lacy top.

I thankfully have no photos. Others may. Shit.

My absolute favourite outfit was a pair of hipster style shimmery grey trousers, silver high heels and a sequin backless lace up top worn with a diamanté choker. Plus with roll on body glitter over the shoulders.

Sounds like I could be some sort of Christmas decoration all written down.

Short dress- probably a slip style or halter neck. Posh nights: block heeled sling backs, student nights: black DM boots. Back combed hair, chocker necklace- probably a sliver cross. Amarige or Miss Dior perfume. Velvet blazer (charity shop) or boyfriend’s denim jack on the way home.

Ooh yes, perfume! I doused myself in Marc Jacob's Daisy. I thought it was the height of sophistication.

My nana bought it for me until she passed away last year, god bless her.

A skintight grey vest top with a cherub print on it and scousers (black trousers with a fake skirt over the top) platform trainers hair in twists sparkly eyeshadow and body glitter. It was the late 90s can you tell

Saturdays were shorts (sparkly grey ones were my fave) thick thights platform high heels and a sparkly top...

A black micro mini with thick black tights, DMs and a body with a black jacket over the top. The palest foundation and bright red lips. Mostly from charity shops.

Thankfully it was the time before mobile phones.

My fav outfit was usually a bodysuit of some kind with a short lycra skirt and a smart jacket. Or a clingy mini dress. Always wore the blackest tights I could....2 pairs if necessary. And velvet platforms.

Well I was an 80’s girl, so white stilettos, a pencil skirt and a blouson type blouse!

Black velvet dress with ancient leather jacket, tights, boots, big crosses and and cross earrings. Goth make up and long hair. Two packets of consulate, make up, purse and lighter in my purple paisley bag.

Baggy cords 2 sizes too big so they hung on my hips, tight kids t shirt with no bra so that it hung over my boobs but stuck out at the waist a la Pamela Anderson, worn with skater trainers, a furry cow print choker, a stick on bindi and my favourite Shaun the Sheep bag which had had a punk makeover 😂

Ooh I had a pair of dark red flock trousers with a matching sheer black blouse with red flock trim. With black platform boots.
Bought from a trip to Amsterdam. Loved that outfit.

Also, denim mini dress worn with spice girl trainers, mini butterfly clips and silver eye liner.

Cargo trousers with a sheer camouflage shirt.

Multiple spaghetti strap cami dresses worn with trainers, or knee high lace up boots.

Late 90's early 00's. Teeny tiny shiny skirts, with thick shiny nude tights. Very high heels and skimpy top. (£20 for a big night out, including 20 Marlborough lights, club fee, copious alcohol, kebab and taxi home 🤣 Ahhhh those were the days

White stilettos a puffball skirt and a vest top with a HUGE curly perm gelled back at the sides just above my ears. This was in the 80s. In the 90s it was super tight leggings with a cropped top or I wore a catsuit. Oh how I long to have that body back again....

Late 90's, 16, cropped Adidas white and black jacket, shiny black hot pants, knees high boots- loads of black eyeliner, bleached hair- basically every parents worst nightmare!

(I see the cropped sports jackets are back in now...)....I was well ahead of my time..)!

Black stretch jersey sleeveless short dress, black velvet with gold swirly piping waistcoat, black pumps, bare legs (all the better to show off my yin’s yang ankle tattoo), large daisy shaped pendant on a long black cord, dangly ying yang earrings, big hair, spidery lashes, pale pink lipstick, squirt of Anais Anais and bottle of archers under my arm. Early 90s.

I was 18 in 2004 and still in my emo phase 😂 we used to make our own fishnet tops out of fishnet tights (just cut the feet and crotch out and put the on upside down over your head) worn with a white wonder bra (shows up better under UV light), super low slung combat pants, a diamanté thong hand ticking out over the top and Vans skate shoes. Bonus points for UV face/ body paint 🙈.

Either that or a really short kilt style skirt, knee socks and a Playboy bunny zip up top, undone enough to reveal plenty of cleavage 😂

Long blonde hair straightened to within an inch of its life and LOTS of black eye liner. No wonder everyone called me Avril 😂
