When you were 18 and going Out Out, what was your favourite outfit?

Mum has just sent me a photo of me going Out Out approximately 10 years ago.

I had a giant windswept fringe that took a whole can of hairspray, a H&M floral skater dress with a tiny belt and cardigan, bare legs, Converse and a cross body bag.

Underneath the fringe there's rings of eyeliner and Maybelline Great Lash Grin

I think at this point I thought I looked like Alexa Chung Grin

Late 197Os. In my defence, I was very thin and confident, with long, black hair.
So, think Kate Bush, in translucent cotton. Ankle bells, purple eyeshadow, no bra.

vampirethriller · 28/03/2020 18:15

21 years ago: PVC mini skirt, tiger print tight top, gold heels, a lot of black eyeliner. Trashy. I loved it.

MrsNoah2020 · 28/03/2020 18:17

80s/90s cusp: shiny shocking pink trousers & matching top, accessorised with pink 'pearls', frosted pink lipstick and wild curls (natural but looked like a perm). Thank god I predated phones with cameras Grin

I am not telling. I also destroyed any evidence I could get hold of.

Dozer · 28/03/2020 18:22

A low cut black “body”, pale jeans (Would prob be called “girlfriend” now?) with v tight belt, chunky heel patent black boots, long black coat, lashings of “smokey” eyeshadow and dark lipstick, and Escape perfume.

Good times!

Allaboardthemagicbus2020 · 28/03/2020 18:22

ra ra skirts. Grin

Thank goodness, there are no photos. Black lace in hair a la Madonna Like a Virgin phase. Tutus and DMs until I discovered Kensington Mkt and secondhand suede jackets a la Johnny Marr (musical tastes also improved).

Is this Out Out as in Mickey Flanagan parlance?

lowlandLucky · 28/03/2020 18:24

Long black pencil skirt, red and white check dolman sleeved shirt, wide soft red leather belt, black plastic earrings and necklace, red clutchie and red tarts trotters, i was bloody gorgeous in my own eyesGrin

Taddda · 28/03/2020 18:24

I've just had a real 'check yourself' moment...

It appears that my 'go to' outfit in the late 90's was near exactly the same as what I wore a few weeks ago Blush

Exchange the cropped Adidas jacket for a cropped nike jumper, the shiny black hot pants for shiny black leggings and the black knee high boots for, well, black knee high boots! (I've one upped to flat Uggs on that...and not Topshop 'break your ankle' over the knees....)!

It appears I never got off the Vengabus..Confused

Is this Out Out as in Mickey Flanagan parlance?

Out Out, on the hunt for boys with equally huge fringes, a plaid shirt and a hoodie to buy me a jelly shot... be still my heart!

1998- faux leather boob tube and skirt, knee high boots or bright pink mules.
Chin length permed hair that I used to back comb, thin 90's eyebrows

ALemonyPea · 28/03/2020 18:29

Late 90s for me. Loved my tight fitting knee length black pencil skirt and tight red top that revealed far too much boobage. Teamed with a pair of High heeled babydoll shoes from Topshop that were all the rage.

And as a northern lass, never wore a coat, whatever the weather.

HelloCanYouHearMe · 28/03/2020 18:34

18 years ago, i'd have been in either a handkerchief top, low rise bootcut jeans and a pair of trainers (very All Saints) or a knee length skirt with side split, boob tube and a pair of strappy sandals

StarShapedWindow · 28/03/2020 18:38

Early 2000s: micro mini worn over natural tan tights and wide hole fishnets, with a tight black French Connection halter neck and black heals. Classy😂

Reginabambina · 28/03/2020 18:43

I had a black cocktail dress in a 1950s style (similar to Maralyn Munroe in the pickture with that white dress) with nude/sheer black tights (sometimes with a back seam) and black heels.

Kenworthington · 28/03/2020 18:56

@TidaQuel 👊🏼

Lauren83 · 28/03/2020 19:57

Miss sixty jeans
'Nice' kookai top
Rimmel sun shimmer tan
Lancôme juicy tubes lip gloss

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 28/03/2020 20:09

No matter what I wore I would complete my outfit with some glitter body spray and an arm bracelet.

TheCunkOfPhilomena · 28/03/2020 20:11

Fake leather trousers.
A red satin shirt.
Hair styled a la Ricky Lake.

LadyLovelyLockz · 28/03/2020 20:18

I had a purple pleather pencil skirt and a black corset top. Clompy black platform sandals. Loved them. Glitter gel eyeliner, some Rimmel heather shimmer and a dusting of Boots 17 Angel dust (which I still have, and it smells EXACTLY the same as it did 20 years ago). Maybe some glitter hairspray for good measure!

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 28/03/2020 20:22

Fake bake fake tan. My hands looked like they had been henna'd 🙈.
Black miniskirts, denim miniskirts, denim hotpants. Barbie pink low cut vest top from River Island. Pink high heels or my treasured Morgan silver stiletto sandals.
Lots of Jane Norman.
Gold name necklace, diamante hoop earrings. Plus a few extra gold studs for good measure.
I looked a right chav 😂
Perfume was Stella McCartney or Prada.
2005

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 28/03/2020 20:25

And as a northern lass, never wore a coat, whatever the weather.

Same! I remember at the taxi rank queue one winter night i was wearing next to nothing and there was an aussie couple bundled up in hats scarf the lot just gobsmacked that i wasnt cold 😂

Yellredder · 28/03/2020 20:26

Secondhand dress shirt and waistcoat, long circle skirt, thick tights and DMs.

Or, black velvet shorts, lacy shirt, thick tights and DMs.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 28/03/2020 20:27

@Lauren83

Omg remember rimmel sunshimmer my legs were drowned in it! I knew a girl who used it as face foundation ha. That was back when people used to iron their hair.

FourTeaFallOut · 28/03/2020 20:28

Shiny black skirt and a metallic coloured bodice, glitter make up. Grin

FourTeaFallOut · 28/03/2020 20:29

Oh yeah, no coat... Northern.
