When you were 18 and going Out Out, what was your favourite outfit?

Mum has just sent me a photo of me going Out Out approximately 10 years ago.

I had a giant windswept fringe that took a whole can of hairspray, a H&M floral skater dress with a tiny belt and cardigan, bare legs, Converse and a cross body bag.

Underneath the fringe there's rings of eyeliner and Maybelline Great Lash

I think at this point I thought I looked like Alexa Chung

Long black chiffon floaty skirt, white silk blouse with ruffles, embroidered waistcoat, platform shoes with ankle straps, velvet bucket hat with a rose on the brim. Heather shimmer lippy, lots of eyeliner.

I had two main outfits... the first was bootcut jeans/trousers teamed with a one shoulder top and strappy sandals. The other was mini skirt with some sort of shiny animal print top and knee high boots.

Lots of roll on glitter and glitter eyeshadow. Sometimes glitter lip balm too. And for really big nights - hair jewels or hair mascara. I used to find bits of glitter on my face and hands for days afterwards!

@Wavescrashingonthebeach you could never get the shit off your hands for days either, and if it rained you turned green!

30 years ago... over the knee suede boots held up by tying silk scarves round them above the knee, microscopic black skirt, purple velvet waistcoat, purple wonderbra. Ankle length black brocade vintage coat, or pilots jacket and a trilby with a very long scarf tied round it and streaming behind me. Lashings of black eyeliner, scarlet lipstick, and an armful of thin silver coloured bangles

Jeans and a nice top - classic

Purple mini skirt, black mesh top and ankle boots. I thought I looked fabulous.

Mid 90s: baby pink ribbed skintight v neck T-shirt, silver bias cut slip mini dress, knee length socks and vans. Pigtails, no makeup and lashings of my boyf’s JPG Le Male or Cool Water.

Tiered skirt in diffferent fabrics and patterns (blues, lilacs, beige)
Cap sleeved t shirt
Cheesecloth shawl with little silver circles sewn on, knotted at front
Clogs

I was 18 in 1985. I wore a tight black dress with fussy chiffon attached at the waist, black fishnets, black suede stilettos and big hair and big earrings. I wanted to look like Cher, but was more like Robert Smith

My weekly ritual was Thursday Night Fake Tan Night - spend an hour soaking it all off in the tub then put the fake bake on and my sheets literally looked like I'd rolled in gravy.

Im just too lazy to be high maintenance any more haha

It’s 1994. I’m wearing a body top with black jodhpurs trousers and platform heels wearing a furs collared coat. My hair’s just falling naturally.

It's bad but I'm jealous of some people's outfits. I always wanted to do the chunky belt with tiny skirt but thought I didn't have the figure. Youth really is wasted on the young.

Mine was skater trainers, baggy, baggy, baggy jeans usually with some boxers showing and a short top

Staggeringly, I got lots of male attention - my face was lovely then (didn't realise at the time, or care, I was all about the music )

black velvet hotpants. halterneck top. thick black tights. DM boots. very short cropped hair. red lippy. no bra, no mascara. if winter, and walking home, possibly a 60s fake fur swing coat.
1991. those were the days.

Massive flares, cropped top. I used to go to raves so lots of neon and tiny clothes. Usually a hat and shades. I used to be very skinny because of all the drugs and would buy kids clothes to wear as cropped tops, Once I wore an age 4 barbie tee-shirt. I also had a vest top with muttley on it which I wore on my 18th birthday

Handkerchief top, denim skirt, wedges and loads and loads of bangles.

It would be 1987 so a Chelsea Girl short flared blue dress with zip up the front, black boots..
Great decade.. Lots of different styles, so basically you could just put your own look together. Most 18 year olds look the same now.

Ah, 2002, the year of the goth. Thought I was so sexy in my back velvet skirt, steel toe cap boots, stripey tights and mesh top over a red vest and bra combo. Or one of my faux corsets. Teamed with purple lippy and copious eyeliner.

Or the days when I was feeling perky. My baggy neon pink or blue baggy cords with my platform trainers and crop top. Teamed with sparkling dog collar and fingerless rainbow gloves.

If I was going somewhere nice, it was either my low slung jeans and ruffled top, or black trousers and a nice top. Usually satin.

Black trouser, black strappy shoes, nice top. Big curly hair. It was the 90’s.

I had a second teenage life ( ok mid life crisis), just as i divorced in my late 30s. Bootleg jeans and short (ish) tops but my worst crime was going to the Sgts Mess Summer ball in a layered chiffon dress that was split on the side right up to my hip with chains keeping it in place ! If my DD even thought about going out like that i would lock her in and rip the dress to shreds

I had a black and white tartan style mini skirt which I wore with a back vest top and the most amazing knee high boots, which had metal stiletto heels. Absolutely no idea how I managed to walk in them. I can only just about manage a small wedge heel nowadays!

I went to raves. I had tiny stretchy neon miniskirts and tops as nd looked great in them. Went with my now DH!

Now we are in frumpsvillle 😭
