If there's total lockdown, can I order takeaway food?

I don't think takeaways would be open would they?

DNAwrangler · 23/03/2020 18:19

No, delivery drivers won’t be allowed out either.

JigsawsAreInPieces · 23/03/2020 18:20

I doubt it very much.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 23/03/2020 18:20

We are in "lock down" in France and take aways are still permitted, but most restaurants are closed including most McDonald's.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 23/03/2020 18:23

That's what I would have thought!

No delivery drivers????

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 23/03/2020 18:34

You're allowed to go to work when you're on lock down.

Well, some delivery drivers are key workers, aren't they?

PlomBear · 23/03/2020 18:36

Dominos is still delivering so far.

EasterEggz · 23/03/2020 18:42

Deliveroo is operating fully with a covid-19 option - so they leave it on your door step, knock and walk away. Don't forget to wipe down handles / packaging and wash hands before eating.

Pishposhpashy · 23/03/2020 18:42

Erm in locked down countries delivery drivers most certainly are allowed out.

TheCanterburyWhales · 23/03/2020 18:44

In Italy and we are having a pizza delivery tonight.
Takeaway places here are not allowed to be open for public walk-ins and have to have their shutters down etc. But they are on the list of food providers and can therefore continue to operate.

DartmoorChef · 23/03/2020 18:44

I was in lanzarote last week during lock down and takeaways were open. Collection was ok if one person goes, as going out to get food is permitted. I would d imagine it will be the same here.

TheCanterburyWhales · 23/03/2020 18:45

All couriers also still working. Contactless signing obvs.

ZandathePanda · 23/03/2020 18:51

I would be concerned who’s hurred on my food

UnfinishedSymphon · 23/03/2020 18:54

All the restaurants where I am are doing takeaway now they are closed to eating in. We have an app which all the restaurants have signed up to, where you order and pay online and it's delivered and left on your doorstep

cornishdreams1 · 23/03/2020 18:55

Good question, we will find out soon.

I hope they keep delivery drivers on the road, with precautions to protect them. This will go a long way to helping the economy and those isolated in homes. People will still need toys, birthday presents etc maybe now more than ever. So I hope delivery drivers are the exception. We can always ship in chocolate for tea

cornishdreams1 · 23/03/2020 18:56

Our local post office seem to think they will be continuing to work whatever, but that is not especially safe if you have to queue, but maybe they can work that out with distancing...

GrumpyHoonMain · 23/03/2020 18:56

Yes I imagine they would be allowed. There are a lot of people who are alone and elderly who physically can’t cook and rely on takeaways. Some Indian / Chinese elderly for example would starve without as they won’t eat western food.

Selenaw · 23/03/2020 18:58

They're still delivering in Belgium. Contactless delivery so you pay online and don't get close to the driver. Lots of restaurants actively asking people to order to tide them over while they're not allowed to open.

VegetableMunge · 23/03/2020 19:00

Israel is on lockdown and I think they're still allowing food delivery.

ScarlettBlaize · 23/03/2020 19:00

We really need to know the answer to this too. We are self-isolating for at least another week and will be relying on takeaways by the end of the week as we don't have enough fresh food to see us through.

We won't starve otherwise, but we'll be living on rice, lentils and frozen veg Hmm

TangoWhisky · 23/03/2020 19:01

People are dying...

This is nothing... Wait till 2 weeks time.

Take away is not important

This virus can be passed in the packaging / people cooking it can have the virus

Christ sake

Pishposhpashy · 23/03/2020 19:05

WHO have said deliveries are safe so I dont know why people on here are so determined to say they aren't
