Sometimes in life it’s not a case of could, but should instead.

There’s a book called the take always secret for recipes or the internet will have free recipes for fakeaways.

GrumpyHoonMain · 23/03/2020 19:06

@ TangoWhisky - You should always take out food from the takeaway containers into your own. Hygiene 101

Lianepl · 23/03/2020 19:08

Seriously? Get a grip.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 23/03/2020 19:10

People are dying...

This is nothing... Wait till 2 weeks time.

Take away is not important

This virus can be passed in the packaging / people cooking it can have the virus

Christ sake

There's always one (or more these days). You're right, takeaways aren't important but what's wrong with having something to look forward to?

ArialAnna · 23/03/2020 19:11

Same for food you buy at the supermarket. We have to eat and we can't eliminate all risk unfortunately. You could make the case that it is less risky than a trip to the supermarket with the current crowds...

meonekton · 23/03/2020 19:12

Some people are just so unimaginable. Take away? Who is coking and delivering them to you?
Maybe it's a good time to learn to cook from what's available at home.
I think the ignorance like this will take this country down in crisis like this.

Queenoftheashes · 23/03/2020 19:13

Ok Mr Hammond

TangoWhisky · 23/03/2020 19:14

@PinkSparklyPussyCat

Always one......
Charming

Takeaway is just another way to catch coronvirus

Iv lost a love one this week
My partner has lost a loved one this week

They wont be able to have proper funerals

My sibling has got it.

None of these people had contact with each other.

Something to look forward to.

We aren't in a war, not on rations.... Just stay in and cook ffs

wishesmadeonstars · 23/03/2020 19:14

I work at a busy Domino’s pizza and there’s still a good 10-15 of us in-store staff on a busy night, working in quite a cramped and close environment (and that’s not including the steady stream of drivers in and out the door) we definitely can’t keep the recommended distance away from each other and it’s not exactly ‘essential work’ in the same way supermarkets are. I’d assume in lockdown I wouldn’t be going to work 🤷‍♀️

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 23/03/2020 19:15

meonekton so all countries already on lockdown and allowing takeaways are ignorant are they or does that just apply to the British?

Marieo · 23/03/2020 19:15

Seen as this will go on in varying forms of restrictions for a loooong time, it seems reasonable people might want a takeaway! It keeps their businesses running too. I would imagine if it becomes problematic they would stop or enforce strict rules.

TangoWhisky · 23/03/2020 19:15

Take the risk if you so wish

But it can be transferred on packaging and boxes and money...

So the risk is in your hands....

Flavabobble · 23/03/2020 19:16

Unless you're living off grid, producing your own food, there's always going to be someone else involved in the handling of it.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 23/03/2020 19:17

I'm genuinely sorry for your losses @TangoWhisky but we're going to have to agree to disagree on takeaways I'm afraid.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 23/03/2020 19:18

Erm in locked down countries delivery drivers most certainly are allowed out.

Erm, except for the ones where they can?

Why do people put 'erm' it automatically makes me think 'twat' no matter what follows it.

Anyway, I read that Boris is doing a speech at 8.30 so I've ordered the food now.

But it can be transferred on packaging and boxes and money...

Including the packaging and boxes from the supermarkets!

Lipz · 23/03/2020 19:18

We're not on full lock down in Ireland and most of the take aways are closed a week already. We've one chipper open on just eat the rest are closed. You can't get a Chinese at all :( all our restaurants are closed, mc Donald's etc.

You know when you get that feeling of jesus I couldn't eat another take away, well we have it with cooking, it's jesus I'm sick of cooking and couldn't eat another pork chop.. as that is what seems to be loads if in the supermarkets. If you do get some chicken you can't even make a curry as people have bought all the nice curry sauces. Oh and there's not a screed of rice to be found, unless of course you buy the microwave rice at nearly 5 euro a bag.

ScarlettBlaize · 23/03/2020 19:19

I can cook, you absolute tool. I'm not allowed to go to the shops because we're self-isolating since my daughter and I both came down with a temperature yesterday. And there are no online delivery slots for three weeks.

We never, ever get takeaways, but are now expected to go two weeks without fresh food.

You patronising tit.

speakout · 23/03/2020 19:19

I have have a drop and go account with the post office.

I don't have to queue - I drop my bag at the counter, nod to a member of staff and walk out.

Herpesfreesince03 · 23/03/2020 19:20

Does anyone know if there’ll still be any public transport? There’s still a lot of people who need to get to work. My supermarkets a bus ride away and I have no other way of getting there

meonekton · 23/03/2020 19:21

PinkSparkly, as a matter of fact, my native country isn't in lock down, since they have acted quick enough and it's not as bad as England.
I never said allowing take away is ignorant, I think trying to get take away at this stage of crisis is ignorant. Why would you want to have food cooked and delivered by others who may have virus?

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 23/03/2020 19:24

Why would you want to have food cooked and delivered by others who may have virus?

Jesus Christ, I might get Coronavirus from the packaging from the supermarket but no one is saying don't go! I may get it from the Ocado delivery driver or the supermarket worker!

TangoWhisky · 23/03/2020 19:24

Yes the same as the stuff from the supermarkets and the post as well....

Gloves and mask in the supermarket and dettol / sprayed every item before putting it away.

Each to their own....

Hope everyone stays safe

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 23/03/2020 19:25

Please don't Dettol anything you buy for your pets or that they may touch as it's highly toxic!

TangoWhisky · 23/03/2020 19:26

I know about pet care. Thank you
