Post some general boring, everyday, normal shit going on on your life/home. Amusing stories welcome to.

Only rule = no mention of CV, there is a whole topic for that.

I'll start. I used a different washing powder. Pro - it smells nice and must be same one as someone I'm friendly with as reminds me of them! Con - it's made my nose all allergenic. Back to the supermarket own brand one for me.

Am lying lengthway on my sofa, sipping a choice Welsh whisky. A peaty one and very nice too.

LordGarmadon · 14/03/2020 23:20

No one answered my incredible dull thread about net curtains so I'm here to offer up a mundane topic for Saturday night...

Net curtains: yes or no? What's the alternative?

Shannith · 14/03/2020 23:35

Horse photo. It's her where are the carrots you waste of space face.

Shannith · 14/03/2020 23:38

Never works on the app.

Sofrano · 14/03/2020 23:41

No to net curtains.
Let people see in. If whatever you’re doing requires privacy then close the curtains.
I like to live in a goldfish bowl and see out, see what’s going on.
If you must get nets then I like French linen ones rather than polyester .
You could always frost your windows but then you can’t see out and that’s he point of windows surely?
I have very strong opinions on net curtains and I’m sad I didn’t see you’re original thread;)

SheilaHammond · 14/03/2020 23:45

This is a lovely thread. I’ve walked the dog twice and done a bit of tidying up. Then did the laundry and went to the shops for some milk. People were going in especially to take selfies in the empty loo roll aisle. Crazy. Groomed the dog. Drank lots of tea. Rang MIL for a chat, and then my two grown up children too. A nice quiet mundane day. Tomorrow we’re moving DC3 into his newly decorated bigger bedroom, he’s been in the baby room for 13 years so he deserves it.

eyesbiggerthanstomach · 14/03/2020 23:51

My DS who is 2 threw a massive tantrum because I hadn't fluffed up his beanbag chair to his liking!

I kept trying but it wasn't good enough for the little diva.

marmiteloversunite · 15/03/2020 00:03

Today I put a coat stand together. My DD is very impressed. The last one broke so I will limit the coat action on this one.

Beautiful horse, @Shannith My dp bought me a load of riding lessons for Christmas as I've been wanting to start again after a long break, but now I'm pregnant and can't use them Sad I'll have to try again after the baby!

@phonetwattery ooh pls link to thread? I want to watch some music videos!

My plans for today include making a banana and peanut butter smoothie for breakfast, darning my dh's jumpers, and starting to clear out the attic.

Wilding · 15/03/2020 07:42

Oh and I'm also a no to net curtains, but that's because I don't mind people looking in! If I had to have more privacy I'd probably go for thin voile blinds.

PenguinsOnParade · 15/03/2020 07:52

Definite no to net curtains here too. Voile or blinds instead. Zebra blinds are great to still let in lots of light but allow some privacy too.

HeronLanyon · 15/03/2020 07:56

I’m in central London and overlooked at front. I have a flat panel of cotton curtailing (think it’s metro from John Lewis) just on bottom panel of sashes. Slightly thicker than net but doesn’t instruct light.

HeronLanyon · 15/03/2020 07:56

Instruct. ?! I meant ‘obstruct’.

LefttoherownDevizes · 15/03/2020 08:02

I woke up so determined to be day one of eating healthily and then remembered I have 2/3 of a loaf of Tiger bread. Monday seems a better day to start these things, neater.

Have decided to bunk off Church and instead go for a walk and the gym before the heavens open for the day

Debating cup of tea number three but a bit sloshy

Allsloppy · 15/03/2020 08:19

I do not like net curtains but have these magic roller blinds where you can see out but you can not seen in. A modern take on nets.

toria658 · 15/03/2020 08:29

My dog threw up all over the backseat of the car on the way to the groomers... groomer very concerned and offered paper towels etc etc then happily hinted he got car sick due to my driving.... it has nothing to do with the fact the greedy springer spaniel has obviously snaffled something revolting on his morning walk.... am certain his lovely groomer gave him even more cuddles and treats than usual.. whilst I was left with the upholstery cleaner, rubber gloves and a revolting smell...

LordGarmadon · 15/03/2020 08:36

Thank you @sofrano... I also dislike net curtains but probably not as strongly.

We've just moved the living room to the front and now people can see our tv! We live very rurally and only have 4 neighbours + the postman ... but you know that's the worst for people gossiping about your programme choices GrinGrinGrin

I need to google what all these types of blinds are: voile, zebra and the magic roller blinds mentioned by @allsloppy

The front room is a gorgeous sun trap so I don't want to block the light.

LordGarmadon · 15/03/2020 08:38

@Shannith gorgeous horse.

Our 4 & 3 year olds have just started riding. They're picking it up surprisingly quickly with so much confidence.

dementedma · 15/03/2020 08:48

What a nice thread. Today dh and I are being "allowed" to meet Dd's new boyfriend. She should have been getting married next weekend..to the previous one but broke it off. This is going to be awkward. Have been told to wear something nice and behave!!!

Dowser · 15/03/2020 09:00

Today is our last day of freedom before lockdown
I intend to go the beach, natter with English friends, then look for a nice meal somewhere.
Sun is up. It’s a new dawn, a new day ...and I’m feee- e—- eeeling gooood!

Dowser · 15/03/2020 09:02

Big no to nets from me by the way.
I have none in my home or static caravan . I’d much rather see out than worry about people seeing in..and I live in a bungalow.

Doginahat · 15/03/2020 09:30

Yesterday I got a beautiful kingsize duvet set from Matalan. It was meant to be £35, but because the packet was missing it was £10.50. Totally perfect despite this!

PhoneTwattery · 15/03/2020 09:49

@Wilding

Prepare to lose a day!
