Post some general boring, everyday, normal shit going on on your life/home. Amusing stories welcome to.

Only rule = no mention of CV, there is a whole topic for that.

I'll start. I used a different washing powder. Pro - it smells nice and must be same one as someone I'm friendly with as reminds me of them! Con - it's made my nose all allergenic. Back to the supermarket own brand one for me.

I’ve had a really satisfying day- five loads of washing done and dried outside, potted up 24 plug plants for hanging baskets, cleaned the house from top to bottom and I have lovely crisp clean bedding that has been dried in the sunshine and wind.
Just had a lovely hot bath, now enjoying a glass of wine 🍷 cheers!

Wauden · 21/03/2020 20:26

Actually hung some washing up on the line today. I do like the fresh smell.

Wauden · 21/03/2020 20:37

SomethingOnce Jamie Oliver is a good start for naan bread.
It's also fun to make pizza dough.

Well, I caved and made the cornflake cakes... Actually to be more accurate it was one ginormous cornflake cake and I ate 75% of it in one go while it was still warm Blush

Just had fun this morning planning a massive order of vegetable seeds, hoping to grow my own this year. Normally I work abroad in the summer but I'll be too pregnant this time so I should be able to look after the garden properly, can't wait! I hope we get some more nice weather soon.

Bluetrews25 · 22/03/2020 09:39

Yes, get veggie growing! My seeds are just starting to come up - going to go and check on them in a minute.
And the Aldi multipack flower seeds are coming up good style. Don't normally 'do' flowers as devote so much energy and space to veggies, but thought I'd go for it this year.
Have just made a lovely veggie dhansak (batch cooked) to see me through the next few days.

Honeyned · 22/03/2020 10:58

I have clean sheets and my eldest son with asd tried a new food and liked it!

Honeyned · 22/03/2020 11:04

@Zaphodsotherhead 😂

SomethingOnce · 22/03/2020 12:24

Thanks, Wauden.

I ate 75% of it in one go while it was still warm

That’s the best way, Wilding Smile

Well done to your DS, Honeyned. My little DS (NT as far as I know, but a fussy little bugger food-wise) has decided scones are edible, though he will not countenance clotted cream.

PenguinsOnParade · 22/03/2020 12:43

I've decided to spoil myself today, currently eating the only packet of chicken SuperNoodles in the house. I'm enjoying every single mouthful.

DH for some reason stocked up on the BBQ beef ones despite knowing I will only eat the chicken ones so I grabbed the last packet when I saw it in Home Bargains last week.

I consider it my Mother's Day gift to myself. Grin

Katinski Maybe the ginger-haired man really is the father of the ginger-haired boy...
I may have been watching too many YouTube vids about paternity, children growing up in different families...

SomethingOnce · 23/03/2020 13:46

I’m going to make the legendary flapjack recipe shared by our own dear @SoupDragon as soon as I can get my mitts on some golden syrup. Cheers, Soupy!

Zaphodsotherhead · 23/03/2020 14:37

I'm making Nigella's Clementine cake today before work. Makes the house smell lovely then when I get home! It's gluten free so I don't have to worry about flour, the eggs come from the farm down the road. I have plenty of sugar, as I don't take it in anything, so it's only for baking and the only other ingredient is ground almonds, which we had loads of in the shop. Looking forward to lovely orangey moist cake to eat for...ooh, at least half an hour.

Maybe less if I'm hungry.

CruCru · 23/03/2020 16:21

The kids and I cleared our herb / vegetable patch of weeds and some good news:

  • my children have decided that they like chives, as I got them to taste some new ones emerging (this is real progress, particularly fore the boy who doesn't like green stuff);
  • the garlic that I'd thought hadn't survived last year seems to still be there; and
  • my thyme plants have survived.

A friend who cooks a lunch daily for her elderly mum delivered a roast beef/yorkshire pud dinner to her mum today - delivered through the cat flapGrin

When I get in from work I’m rewatching Parks and Recreation and still trying to figure out why I have a crush on both Ben Wyatt and Ron Swanson (the characters!)

sockittome123 · 24/03/2020 21:02

The thread's been quiet today! I've been catching up with some work, trying to drink lots of fluids (for no reason other than I'm terrible at it) and trying to minimise my food usage due to The Thing. I'm desperate to do some baking but I don't want to do it in case I need the flour I have for other things. I will have to venture out tomorrow to get some shopping for DGM... maybe they'll have some flour in the shops!

SomethingOnce · 24/03/2020 21:15

My oven has half died and only heats to 160degs.

I pruned buddleia and it was great therapy. More to do tomorrow. Wild birdies must be fed. 🎉🐣🐤🐥🐦🕊🦅🦆🦉

@Zaphodsotherhead If you have problems finishing your cake, I could help you 🍰

springydaff · 24/03/2020 23:25

I had THE most gruesome dreams last night, all trauma stuff from my past.

Realised this morning I'd left my nicotine patch on (had a fag or 2 at my mums funeral : like THAT I was back to smoking again. That stuff is sooo addictive)

Sir Walter Raleigh, he was such a stupid get.

Wilding · 25/03/2020 07:21

After the chocolate cornflake incident at the weekend I'm on a health kick now. Exercise every day and no snacking allowed! Another beautiful morning here so I'm going out for a run before it starts to get busy.

Did a virtual pub quiz last night with some friends on conference video call - was hilarious and very silly. Have to say my social life has improved massively since it's moved online!

@springydaff I keep having weird dreams too - woke up my DH twice by screaming in my sleep the other night. Lord knows what's going on in my subconscious Grin

TheGirlFromStoryville · 25/03/2020 07:27

What's everyone up to today?
Getting Ds up at 8 for breakfast /shower /dressed and schoolwork from 9am (I'm being very optimistic with this!)
I'm then changing the beds and tidying upstairs. Debating whether to iron the bedding first or just put it on creased. Dilemmas! 😂

purpleme12 · 25/03/2020 08:41

I'm on the settee under the quilt with my little girl the other end
