Post some general boring, everyday, normal shit going on on your life/home. Amusing stories welcome to.

Only rule = no mention of CV, there is a whole topic for that.

I'll start. I used a different washing powder. Pro - it smells nice and must be same one as someone I'm friendly with as reminds me of them! Con - it's made my nose all allergenic. Back to the supermarket own brand one for me.

(Stranger things added to my playlist should I need one).
Tree facts - Apols ‘my great tree of London is only 175 years old. I need to rethink decades of me imagining civil war type dressed bods sheltering under it. Grin
Still an amazing tree.

@InTheShadowOfTheMushroomCloud ! You have just reminded me to go and pick up my new glasses. I was sat on settee reading mn, ages to go before a evening shift.
Bit miffed with SpecSavers. The assistant had put her arm out and pointed from right to left while saying, "Cheapest here, more expensive there." Chose the cheapest I could manage. Turned down coating saying I couldn't afford it. After I paid and was leaving I saw right by the door a selection of Free with full NHS voucher frames. Naturally, being British, I said and did nothing! If they send me a customer survey I shall be brave then.

I am am WFH today. Just had porridge with frozen raspberries and manuka honey.

I have some hand cream which smells of grapefruit Smile

Tulipstulips · 18/03/2020 10:06

I’ve just rediscovered strawberry sherbet boiled sweets. I found them in a local garden centre. They’re so nice but I’m sucking them so hard that they’re slicing the roof of my mouth up! I remember that from eating boiled sweets as a child....

Just subscribed to STARZ for 99p per month for the first 3 months and am binging on so-bad-they’re-good historical fiction shows.

Lovelydovey · 18/03/2020 10:11

I’ve hung washing outside and looks like it is drying!

InTheShadowOfTheMushroomCloud · 18/03/2020 10:23

Just had a minor panic....car needs MOT by end of month and we had forgotten due to the crappola going on.

Hopefully booked in for next Tuesday 🤞

Zaphodsotherhead · 18/03/2020 10:27

I've just had a lovely shouted conversation out of my bedroom window with my friend who was riding her horse past my house. My upper windows are practically level with the head of someone riding on the green opposite on a big horse. Which is a nice discovery, although I'll have to keep the curtains drawn if people start riding Shire horses round here.

AnuvvaMuvva · 18/03/2020 12:55

I was 10stone 9 this morning. I've been doing WW and I've now lost 40lbs! 10 to go till my first goal.

If we have to live on my prepped storecupboard, though, I'll be fat again within a week. Fray Bentos, tinned casserole, custard and syrup sponges...

purpleme12 · 18/03/2020 13:07

Watching this Morning with a cute doggy wishing I was there with the dog!

wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 18/03/2020 13:26

My cat has been sick on my rug. I wish she'd do it on the laminate instead.

springydaff · 18/03/2020 13:38

Half watching The Saint on itv4 - because anything goes, right? - and so many big stars in it. Or went on to be big stars. Even Donald Sutherland is in it.

Someone called in earlier to mend my sink out of the goodness of his heart. Charged me £12 - £7 for the part and £5 for the labour.

Duchessofblandings · 18/03/2020 14:23

A courting couple have moved into the tree right in our bedroom window eye line. Looking forward to hearing the lovely wood pigeon coos this evening and seeing the chicks in a few weeks.
(If pigeon babies are called chicks?)

PenguinsOnParade · 18/03/2020 14:29

Baby pigeons are called squabs. Smile Chicks still sounds cuter though.

PenguinsOnParade · 18/03/2020 14:29

I ran out of fruit to turn into jam so I'm making peanut butter today.

Duchessofblandings · 18/03/2020 14:36

Thank you, Penguins. Thought it was something different but couldn’t remember.

PenguinsOnParade · 18/03/2020 16:00

Think I just broke my food processor trying to make the peanut butter, motor just totally cut out. I'm hoping it's just overheated and will be fine when it cools down but I have no idea and the annoying thing is that the peanut butter is almost there. It just needs another minute or so.

Zaphodsotherhead · 18/03/2020 17:36

Any update, Penguins? I may be slightly overinvested in your peanut butter escapade.

PenguinsOnParade · 18/03/2020 18:11

Definitely seem to have broken the food processor. Got a smaller one in storage which I'm going to go find in the loft after dinner. It's so close though, imagine the taste of peanut butter but with the texture of a stiff cookie dough instead. This should be the stage before it goes nice and smooth and oily, I've put what I have in a sealed jar and I just hope the break in mixing doesn't affect it. I've only added a small dash of oil and a few teaspoons of honey to sweeten it so it's fascinating to see how the peanuts change with this process. Just need to hope I don't break the other machine as I don't have a third one. Grin

PenguinsOnParade · 18/03/2020 19:37

Had to add another dash of oil but I have peanut butter. Grin

N0ManJan · 18/03/2020 19:54

That peanut butter looks so good @PenguinsOnParade

I’ve been working from home for the first time ever today! Haven’t been issued a work laptop or phone as our IT department didn’t have time sort it (WFH with immediate effect from Monday evening due to being 33 weeks pregnant and yesterday I was on annual leave) so have been making do with my own for now. Only been able to do half of my usual duties but I’ve managed to do two huge loads of baby clothes and it’s been lovely to see all the tiny things drying around the kitchen. Smile

Wilding · 18/03/2020 20:46

Impressive peanut butter! My plan for this week was bagels but I haven't been able to find any white bread flour so might make cornflake cakes instead Grin

Just lying in a nice warm bath at the moment listening to the frogs croaking away in the pond outside, I'm glad someone's enjoying the rain!

powkin · 18/03/2020 21:37

Just pulled back the duvet to find a maraca in the bed. Very normal day with a 13 month old Smile

powkin · 18/03/2020 21:38

@Wilding mmm I need to find mars bars so I can make some rice crispie cakes.

springydaff · 18/03/2020 21:51

Look, I can't be on this thread if it veers too much towards food. PROMISE it won't end up being food based?

More mascara in the bed please (if you get my drift). Cheers.

I got some paracetamol today. One pack appeared on the shelf at 8pm. I've got a bad shoulder, needed that paracetamol.

springydaff · 18/03/2020 21:54

On the shelf at the (empty) supermarket. It wasn't an Act of God, appearing in my house voila.
